Great atmosphere. Cold Shiner. Ordered blackened pork chops bears and rice with house salad. Chops were excellent. Red beans needed a little spice. Sones items appeared a little pricey(6 fried shrimp w/catfish filet 21.95)

Kinda perplexed by some of the bad reviews on this place. This is the first place that my wife and I go to when we are in Brenham. The service here is as people say outstanding and I wish I could remember the waitress slash bar tender slash hostesses name because she deserves a shout out as she has been working here for a long time and still has a great attitude. The steaks here are awesome and always cooked to exact order. They season them just right IMO and are choice cuts yes a little pricey but that’s how it is in these small country towns and we gladly pay it. The building is old and historic but not run down as the décor has a true Texas feel to it as others have said. We live in Houston and if I had to choose between Saltgrass, Roadhouse or any other chain steakhouse I would choose BT Longhorn Steakhouse every time!

I gave this place 5 stars because the service was outstanding. I got takeout with the bartender and she was probably the nicest bartender I’ve come across In a while! She was very talkative, was a great sales representative for the city, and knew her history about the bar and restaurant. I had a very enjoyable experience here! BTW, I’m a food and beverage director for a large hotel in Dallas, so it’s hard to impress me. The food was average. But much more enjoyable then the fast food options that are open on a Tuesday evening in Brenham. I’d go back next time I’m in Brenham.

Very rude hostess never acknowledged us after being there for 15 minutes, but helped the patrons that came in a while after us.

This restaurant has really gone down the river in terms of service. We keep trying it just to be really really disappointed each time. Not only do they have waits for no apparent reason. They also have staff that could care less about the dining experience. Think great food with Applebee’s staff working there. They forget things. Don’t come to check on you. Or even worse all of your food comes out at the same time salads with dinner. One server said, «well girl you gotta hurry up,» I looked at her and said, «no, the problem is you didn’t time the food right.» It’s really sad because there aren’t that many good dining options here and the management clearly doesn’t care to keep their local customers returning. We just started eating elsewhere.

The best thing I can say about our experience here is that our waitress was fabulous. She was very nice and the service was excellent. We asked for recommendations at the hotel where we were staying & they highly recommended this place. We were so disappointed. Starters — crab cakes, which were recommended. They were flat, a little greasy and pan seared & swimming in a butter sauce. Salads — I ordered the wedge. The blue cheese was watery & the crumbles were kinda hard & very few. Husband ordered the Caesar, which was a house salad w/Caesar dressing Main Course — we spilt the ribeye. It was cooked to temp, but I literally had to saw it in half. The meat was very grainy & super tough! Probably one of the worst steaks I’ve ever eaten!!!

Friday, March 11 — Walked in and didn’t see many tables, but more are tucked around the back. Ordered a filet, mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. Although our waiter told me what veggies were included and asked if I only wanted one or some of the mix, which was great! I chose broccoli only. The steak and atmosphere were both wonderful! I’ll be back for sure!

This restaurant downtown is big on character and hospitality, but not on flavor. The interior is spacious with interesting Texas themed décor, a piano, and old wood tables. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. However, the food is nothing special. I ordered the chicken fried steak with gravy, fries, and green beans, being the health nut that I am. I’ve had a lot of chicken fried steak as a native Texan and unfortunately this one was just so bland and served up with a bunch of floppy fries and buttery green beans. Ah well. My dad ordered the appetizer plate, continuing our quest to try everything fried on the menu. I think we had the calamari, fried pickles, and stuffed jalapeños. I was indifferent about most everything, but Dad went nuts on the green sauce they serve with the calamari, so there you go. The place has a lot of character and would be nice for a group, but it doesn’t have much going for it by way of food.

Food was pretty good. Kind of was hoping for something a bit fancier but this waste only«non chain» restaurant open on Sunday in Brenham that I could find. Had the flank steak with asparagus which was hardly cooked but edible. Steak was cooked perfect. Service was good. Left me alone but checked on me enough to feel like if I had needed anything I could have gotten it.

As far as a steakhouse food goes is was only fair. Not terrible but not what I was expecting. The service was really good. The inside was really nice. I had the Porterhouse and honestly it was not that great. It was very thin and hard to cut. Usually when I get a great steak I don’t even have to use sauce. This one I had to use A1 to make it better. The red beans and rice tasted really bland like they rushed to put it together. One bit was all I could take. I know I know what the heck am I ordering red beans and rice at a steakhouse. Dummy me.

My husband and I both ordered ribeyes and they were inedible. They were thin and so gristly, you could hardly cut them. My husband’s was worse than mine and he sent it back only to be disappointed when the 2nd one was just like the first. The waiter did not even offer to take the first one back when my husband complained about it. All he could say was how he and his boss had marveled about how good they looked! They should be ashamed to call themselves a steakhouse and at $ 28 a piece we should have had so much better.

We loved it! 9 of us stopped Saturday evening. Service was great. Everythng was great. Kids at the side salads like it was dessert. Rave reviews about the tortilla soup. My wife loved her filet mignon. My burger was perfect: juicy with a sweet soft bun. Alex our waiter handled our table like a champ!

Overpriced for blah flavor… Cold at ALL times, and be prepared to be ignored! This places breaks my heart. First off, if you’re going to have a steakhouse in the middle of cattle country, TX, it needs to be amazing. They don’t fit that bill. Flavors are mediocre in most areas with one or two accents that carry most of the dish. For example, their burgers are really only good because of the meat itself. Now, any good burger should allow meat to shine, but don’t just skimp everything else. When I opened it, their«diced onion» was what appeared to be the smallest single piece of a red onion, cut in about 8 pieces. Don’t overwork yourselves folks. They had barely put the BBQ sauce on either, and the server looked shell shocked when I asked for more. I had accepted the offer of half/half(fries and onion rings). My mistake! 10 fries and 3, count them 3! Onion rings. Sadly these were all breading and no real onion. I WANTED to love the onion rings. I couldn’t. Drinks took forever to be refilled, and we were ignored constantly. Though the place was 80% empty, we were placed next to the soda machine backside, which was loud and kinda terrible… All in all, this«steakhouse» doesn’t represent what it should, especially out here!

Really quaint fun place. I didn’t order well. Had BBQ shrimp and calamari for a meal. Calamari was not that good but read appealing. BBQ shrimp was really shrimp and grits but shrimp was small. I blame myself for this decision. Not terrible. Just not fabulous. Others ordered the Texas cheese steak and potatoes skins. Texas cheese steak was amazing! I’m potato skins as expected.

Great little downtown secret of Brenham, TX. Great staff and strong drinks. Only had one issue and it was at no fault of the waitress or the owners at all. They fixed the issue and we had a fabulous time. We go as often as or crazy schedules allow. The Moscow Mule, Lobster Tail, Corn and Onion rings for me… Plus a starter of fried pickles and an excellent house salad. Great restaurant, friendly staff and just a good time all around.

I came here with my parents, sister and a friend, the service was ok. For our food we had to wait 45 minutes! And not only did the food take long but the food was a joke! My friends salad was not washed and had brown ends! My fish was mushy and the batter had no seasoning. My moms grilled chicken was cold and sliced thin, it wasn’t even the whole chicken breast and when she told the waiter it was cold they literally brought it back in 2 min! They obviously put it back in the microwave and gave her the same chicken she 1st had! My sisters and dad’s Alfredo pasta was watery and had no taste and their bread was hard like if they made it yesterday and reheated it today!!! A total disappointment!!! Not worth your money or drive at all!

We where a party of 6 the food was good service was good Love the look of the place the only reason didn’t give 5 stars the place was pricey total bill was 256.89. Don’t get me wrong I don’t have problem with a 257 bill but the cook wasn’t take good or service I also don’t like when restaurant adds tip to check Will go back for drinks not food

After reading the other reviews, we were not sure if we wanted to eat here. We parked nearby and could see the place. it look like a building from the cowboy days so we decided to give it a try. We love the look when we walked inside. Definitely a western look. We enjoyed the look very much and took a tour of the place. it did not smell old, it was very well maintained and have this odd feeling of being old but very up-to-date. May be a better way of saying that is we felt like the place was recently constructed and we were in 1886. Some other reviewers had trouble with the service and that every thing took too much time. I timed how long it took to be seated. It only took 3 minutes. It was lunchtime and fairly busy. Our waiter came within 4 minutes and took our order. We both both ordered hamburgers. The burgers were more along the line of Red Robin or 4 Guys. Definitely not McDonald’s. A hamburger is a hamburger so I can’t say these were the best I have ever eaten but good hamburgers nonetheless and worth what we paid for them. Two hamburgers with onion rings and fries and two teas cost $ 25. The total time spent to be seated, place our order, eat and comfortably chitchat, are you up, and walk out 42 minutes. Not bad. here is my report: we love the atmosphere of the old west days gone by. The food was good. Cole, our waiter, gave us very good and prompt service. The bathrooms were very clean and well-maintained. When I see the bathrooms are in good shape I tend to blelive the kitchen is also clean. And, to wrap it up, we received good value for what we paid. They have a full American local, style food menu. We liked the experience and definitely would eat here again. We are giving it a five star not because it is a fine dining establishment but because it’s top notch for equivalent establishments. See the pictures that I posted.

Charming atmosphere with great architectural details. Has an impressive large bar with beer wine and spirits. The calamari was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Had the baby back ribs with a side of baked potato. Ribs were juicy and had the meat come right off the bone. Good size bake potato to top it off. This place is good for groups!
