This review is for Public Skate. Good mix of classic and new music with a DJ! The skate guards were playing music from their phones the last time I went(2012) and it was ALL like deep underground R&B music that no one ever heard of. I didn’t try the food but you can’t really mess up what looked like grilled and fried foods; so I assume it was good. It smelled good, anyways. My wife said her skates smelled bad. I didn’t sniff mine, so I can’t judge that. The skates look like the same kind I used when I went there in high school(graduated 2002). I had to get hockey skates because the figure skates I were originally given were too tight. I recommend asking for hockey skates if your feet are wide. I went for the 2pm session, so it was regular lighting. They have some sort of DJ lighting system up top so they can get onto party mode in the evening. There are also evening sessions, which is what I’m sure I went to the last time I went. The crowd at the early session was young kids and their parents. I remember more high school aged kids and adults in the evening session. Overall fun time. $ 6 to skate, $ 4 for skate rental, $ 5 for a metal walker thing to help beginner skaters.
