Am very impressed with this location and their menu! They have a pretty good variety at very affordable prices. I went with my family of four and spent less than $ 20!!! I was nicely filled with my chili hot dog. I didn’t need fries because I had some of my wife’s fries that came with her grilled ham and cheese. I got a half grilled cheese sandwich combo for my girl 3 year old, and a corn dog for my boy 3 year old. Our waitress was very nice, pleasant to talk to and the atmosphere is very family friendly. I let my boy walk around and was going to grab him before he got himself in trouble, but our waitress informed me that they are fine with it and even said that people with kids let them walk around and management doesn’t have an issue, nor do other customers. The interior is not sophisticated but very low key but family friendly, not boring at all, if you look around at how it’s decorated(see my pictures to see what I mean). Overall, I recommend going there. You don’t need a reservation. You just walk in and seat yourself, which is great. They even have a drive-thru in case you want to bring it home. This place is awesome! When I come in I feel transported back in time. It makes me think this is what it must have been like to go to a burger joint back in the 50’s or 60’s before everything was processed and thrown together. It’s obvious they care about their food and their customer service. There is always a smiling face here to greet you. The food never disappoints the chili is the star of the show but let’s not forget the burgers hotdogs and fries. They are always fresh and delicious, classics, no fuss. And then there is the ice cream you really can’t get much better than this. Do yourself a favor and come grab some lunch here.

Went there last night for carryout, I think bc it was around(9 pm) closing time the food was horrible. The chili seemed watered down, the person taking the order was not very pleasant, and the banana splits are a lot smaller then when I remember,(which was a few months ago at a different Gertys) it only had two scoops of ice cream and it didn’t have nuts on it which I asked for.

Everything is phenomenal! Must stop by when you’re in the area. Owners are very friendly and very involved with their customers. The waitress I had was so friendly, made us feel at home here. The food is amazing but the ice cream is better! Everything is priced perfectly, very low cost food but taste like a 5 star restaurant. Play awesome music & quality TV. Plus the owner has cute stuffed animals you can buy. Come here at least every other week! Love it

Good Food. Great Desert. Bad Exhaust system!!! The burgers and chili are delicious but a little hard to truly enjoy with the smoky environment. Please upgrade, fix, turn on or add an exhaust system for the smoke.

Rip off, the specials are not what the price says, they charge extra for toppings but they don’t mention that when you order The waitress was rude, not going back Oh and their chilli, I’m typing this review from the toilet

If you want good classic food, try this place! Very good service and food! The service is not bad, when it’s busy, they go faster than you think. The waiter takes a while for a small place like this. They are still friendly and nice. They always help. The food is excellent, same as the drinks. For my drink I always have a good Green River, which is popular to my family(I’m not Irish). They go quick with the food. I had the chicken parm sandwich. The chicken was well cooked. The bun was unique for a sandwich like that. The marinara was a little messy, but still very good. The mozzarella is good too. The ice cream is rich, creamy, and fantastic. It is one of the main reasons why I come to Gerties. A s’mores sundae is what I get. Graham crackers are good. The chocolate ice cream is good. They have a small cookie, which is good. Cherry is good with the good whipped cream. Overall: Fabulous food. Ice cream and food are great! The stuffed animals are good decoration to the restaurant. I have a t-shirt for this place. It’s not the pepper one, but the one that shows Chicago. My favorite diner(and maybe restaurant) so far.

Have to give an update I ate lunch here Saturday and had a corn beef Rubin it was barely hot and the meat was very tough and hard to chew it, I didn’t send it back to the kitchen, but maybe I just won’t have this item again.

Great ice cream, great service and an old school ice cream parlor feel. I’ve never really had the food, just the ice cream.

The service here was absolutely terrible. I mean highly rude as well. When we walked into the restaurant the atmosphere was very nice actually me and my family thought it was going to be a good place to eat. We sat down because the sign said sit where you want so we did that. We waited for ten minutes to be served while everyone else around us was being served. My dad after 10 minutes got up and asked one of the workers if we can get some service and with a big attitude the older lady said the waitress will be there in a minute. We waited and still no one came to our table. So we got up and left and while we were leaving the waitress said okay with again another attitude. You have better chances going to the location on archer or Andy’s on 95th and Cicero. If your looking for a place to get good ice cream never go to this location. Try the one on archer.

Great shakes and banana splits… only thing is they need to put the banana split in the correct container. Not in a small bowl, for take out that is.

I love this place! Me and my boyfriend come here every time we want to good out for a good priced, delicious dinner. I would never hesitate to recommend this place to everyone. The prices are good for 2 people we always leave spending $ 20 or less even with ice cream. I love the staff here so nice and it is always the same people so you get to know them. This is the next best thing to eating at home. My favorite thing to get there is 2 sliders with cheese and grilled onion and to share a cheese fry. My favorite ice cream is the tin roof with carmel.

In the parking lot of a Tony’s Finer Foods in Bridgeview sits a small restaurant touting Lindy’s chili. Having been told by a friend in the area that they have hot dogs, I decided to stop by and give them a try. To my surprise this is not a typical greasy spoon diner but is in fact a restaurant with waiter/waitress service. My friend and I placed our order and in shortly thereafter a cup of chili was brought out to us as we waited for the hot dog. First off, let me go over the chili. The chili here was not particularly spicy but had a very nice well defined flavor. There was a good amount of meat in it, a lot of beans and no sign of peppers. The chili was thick and flavorful, I found this to be very good chili without being over the top with strange ingredients or weird peppers. Eventually the hot dog arrived. This was a skinless dog on a regular Chicago style poppy seed bun. It had two hamburger style pickles on it, slices of tomato, nicely chopped up onion and mustard. There was no sign of celery salt or hot peppers on this dog. The unusual pickle slices were quite a bit different than the usual long cut of a pickle found on a Chicago style hot dog. The sausage used here was skinless and by the taste I’m guessing was either a Hebrew National or a Best Kosher dog rather than a Vienna Beef or Red Hot Chicago as is commonly found throughout the area. Overall this was a solid place to try a hot dog, though a bit pricey. The hot dog came with fries and a cup of chilli for around 6.00. I’d say it was a well above average hot dog with excellent chili and would recommend visiting Lindy’s if you happen to be in the area. I’ll give this place four stars.

It was a cold winter night and I needed some chili to ward off the chills. I’ve seen Lindy’s in several areas in town and I thought I’d just stop in and give it a shot. This particular one is located in an area with several struggling strip malls in a changing neighborhood, the intersection of 87th and Harlem. Now I dabble in chili competitions and there is a characteristic flavor profile that competition chili has, and Lindy’s has captured it. I had a bowl of chili, no beans with onions. These guys kind of overdid it with the onions so I had to scoop some of it out, almost a cup of diced onion for crying out loud. Next time I just skip the onions. Chili itself was delicious, best I’ve had coming out of a restaurant. Followed it up with some Gerties Ice Cream, I kept it simple, one scoop vanilla. They make all sorts of malts and sundaes if you want that. They also have Filberts Root Beer. The restaurant would definitely be classified as «family friendly». They have all these stuffed animals on the windows which would certainly have most parents reaching for the ritalin once those kids get all hyper from the ice cream and root beer. Restaurant itself is kind of small, almost cramped. Service is a touch slow. I would definitely come back, but only for the chili.

Basically a roomier and livelier version of the Lindy’s in Mt. Greenwood. It’s decorated with a bunch of stuffed animals and shit so bring your young ones and maybe they wont scream their heads off and actually behave while I try to enjoy my peaceful meal. The food doesn’t taste any different. Which is a good thing because it means it’s consistent at each location. I opted for a greasy ¼ lb burger with a cup of chili on the side. As always, it was very satisfying. Because chili is one of the few things I know how to make at home, I don’t really choose chili when dining out. But when I do, it’s pretty much automatic. Lindy’s is where it’s at.
