Good local joint, good pizza and other Italian dishes, not a fancy sit down place– casual eats.

OK — the owner is a great guy when he is there to supervise — always corrects a problem before it starts. Stopped by to place an order on my way to pick up groceries during the storm. Placed my order, and said that I would be back in 15 – 20 mins to pick up the pizza. Came back and the staff(there must have been 5 of them with nothing to do because of the storm) looked at me and said«Oh I didn’t know you wanted to order that pizza». If the owner had been there, he would have stepped in, and thrown in a salad or something else and made the pie right away. The girl at the counter just looked ahead confused. Come on!

My family has ordered pizza from here before and it has been pretty good. I tried the chicken parm sandwich tonight and I could not believe what I bit into… a soggy roll with cheese and sauce… When I opened my sandwich I noticed there wasn’t even a whole chicken tender spread throughout the sandwich. I called goochie brothers immediately and the young lady said the manager was too busy to handle this right now and asked for my name and phone number. I said that is unacceptable and I returned my sandwich immediately demanding my money. They obviously didn’t care when I showed them the sandwich. I went to Andre’s on Brigantine Boulevard and got a well toasted chicken parm sandwich that actually had chicken in it! Shame on you Goochie Brothers!

Good food, terrible service. Called to order two small trays of food and were told we needed to call 24 hours in advance. Offered to wait but were told no. Ordered individual meals instead(double the price) and told 45 minute wait. An hour and a half later the food was finally ready. The people behind the counter were chaotic and it was unclear who was in charge. Its unfortunately the customer service is so incredibly poor because the food is good. There is high demand in the area for the food but customers don’t need to deal with the frustration of this service while on vacation.

Ordered a pizza, take out. Hand tossed, Pepperoni, sausage, roasted peppers, hot peppers, onions, basil, and extra sauce. They put the extra sauce on top which made it look like a mess. Very salty and after a 3 minute drive down the road back to where I was staying the crust was a soggy mess. The flavor was decent, and I feel the crust WOULDHAVE been good if it wasn’t flopping around like a wet paper towel, so I gave 3 stars but my experience is more like 2. I threw a couple pieces in the oven to crisp it up which helped a little bit. I hadn’t had pizza in awhile and was looking forward to it but I was pretty disappointed to be honest. Maybe if you avoid extra sauce you will have a better experience. I just like a little extra sauce. The way it was just slapped on the top was a bit insulting. Oh well

Our go to place in Brigantine. Great food, super people and a menu that makes you smile. Not just a pizza joint(although in my opinion, the best pizza on the island) but a legit Italian restaurant. Don’t let the small strip mall location fool you, this place makes some seriously good food. Where else can you have lasagna one night and a cheeseburger with pork roll on top the next. Whether on vacation or not, give this place a try, you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve had some really great meals at local pizza shops so I probably went into Goochie Brothers a little overly ambitious. My party of four arrived a little after 7:00 on a Saturday night during the off-season and had no problem securing a table of our choice right away. Our server was prompt to open our wine(BYOB, score!) and bring us the local bread. First up with the local bread was their bruschetta, and it rocked. The tomatoes and onions were nicely soaked in oil and sitting on toasted bread. We also asked for some plain rolls which were light and crispy. Each of our entrees campaign with a salad. The salad was just a bed of lettuce with onion, tomatoes and possibly cucumber. It was pretty standard and boring. The balsamic vinaigrette was awesome. It was rich without being creamy and I probably could have sipped it straight from the dish. I wonder if it was homemade but even if it’s not, it was excellent. It’s a shame it went with a basic, boring salad. My overzealousness kicked in with my entrée. The veal all vodka sauce just sounded really good. The vodka sauce was great– rich and creamy, with nice little chunks of tomato. The veal wasn’t tender and a little tough to cut. I’ve had good experiences with veal in pizza shops, but moving forward I’ll probably avoid it here. I sampled my mom’s eggplant parm and my husband’s potato gnocchi with sausage. Both were pretty tasty and I wished I went a more classic route. The dining room wasn’t fancy but it made for an okay spot for a low-key meal out. My entire group liked it as a whole, so I foresee us coming back in the future. I’ll probably just treat it more like a pizza place and not a hidden gem for veal dishes.

I live in Brigantine & I’m lazy so I like to get my food delivered. I always order online(my fav part). When you get to checkout it gives you the option to pay online. Once you select they option, it then just tells you your order has been placed. So, you can’t actually pay online. If you have a card, you have to call them & tell them you want to pay for your order(so annoying). Anyway, on to the food. I’ve only had 4 things from there. The first were the mussels in a white wine sauce which were AWESOME. Best mussels I’ve ever had. I also had a burger which was fairly okay. Sadly, the good food stops there. I ordered the Chicken Alfredo Pasta over penne. WORSTPASTA I HAVEEVERHADINMYLIFE. First, there was no actual Alfredo sauce, the sauce was replaced with grease. I am not kidding, it made me gag. I decided to taste the chicken anyway, bad decision. It was not seasoned at all. Just grilled and thrown on top of penne with grease sauce. Ugh. I am not exaggerating. I also had onion rings from there which were terrible, they were soft & flavorless. I’ll return for the mussels, but the Alfredo was the worst thing I’d ever seen. I have no idea why they even thought that was okay to serve.

I order from here regularly. I love Chicken Parm and these guys make the best here locally. It seems a little pricey at first glance, but the amount of food you get is easily enough for 2 people, or two full meals if you order the full dinners. If you are in the restaurant, forget it, you are definitely bringing leftovers home. I have also had some of their other pasta dishes and all are very good, as is the pizza. I wouldn’t say the pizza is best on the island, but I would say it’s very close. The sicilian pizza is awesome! I definitely recommend this place as it is the best all around pizzeria on the island if you consider not only quality of food, but also selection, PLUS you can order online and have it delivered or ready for pickup… it’s very convenient considering we won’t be getting grub hub out here any time soon.

This place is best for pizza, yummy apps like the fried ravioli, and chopped salad. The food is fresh, the sauce and dressings are great and the prices are very reasonable. For those that rated Goochie’s poorly because it wasn’t fine dining or fine service, you missed the point to why Goochie’s is so good.

Great food most of the time. Service is okay. Sauce is the absolute best! One of the best local places on the island

The pizza was good. The service is atrocious. We made reservations, told they would be honored, only to show up and be told that reservations could not be guaranteed, and that we were welcome to leave if we had an issue. Whoever the blonde is that works there needs to get a lesson in customer service and manners. Will never go again. This was off season too.

Reading some of these reviews is insane… Goochie’s is one of my favorite places to get food on the island! The penne a la vodka is to die for. The salads are DELICIOUS. Not to mention the portions are super generous. I have eaten IN once or twice(typically do take out) and it is typically super packed and I do agree with someone else’s post saying it’s a glorified pizza place with tables inside. Definitely better to get take out from here!

This is our umpteenth trip to Goochi Brothers. We were not disappointed. Because of a spring snow fall the island and the restaurant we’re nearly empty. We were greeted and seated right away. We brought our own wine which was promptly opened by our very able waitress. We recognized her from our numerous times there. We had wine, looked over the menu and then ordered. Signature bruschetta arrived at the table promptly. Dinner salads came next. We each had a different entre: there was the eggplant rollatini on linguine, ravioli with meatball and sausage, eggplant parm and chicken franchese over linguini. For some reason it appeared that our dishes were extra generous tonight. After we had finished eating our food and finished our wine there was plenty on everyone’s plate for a takeout box. As usual, when the bill was presented, the total was very reasonable. We have eaten the same type of meals at the well-known Atlantic City restaurants and easily paid twice as much in the past. Their food is consistently good, seems to be very fresh and was served in a very pleasant manner. This is probably not only the best Italian restaurant on the island but one of the best restaurants on the island of Brigantine. Of course, we will go again.

We ordered a Sicilian pie. Admittedly I am a bit of a pizza snob having grown up in Brooklyn ny but this was bad. I live in pa now and this was worse then anything i have had there. There was a strange taste to the pie that i could not identify. Worse then that was a Ragu like after taste that lingered in you’re mouth long after you were finished eating. It seemed to take unusually long to get the pie sine the place was not crowded. Would not go back.

Very good italian food. We always love our meal. Especially when they put together a caprese salad for me. In the summer, service gets a little rough and sliw as the demand increases but all in all. very good. Id rather go in off seasons though. Prices are good.

Worst restaurant ever. I am sometimes desperate for a pasta meal and it makes me ill to think of this place. Roach crawled on my table last year while having pizza with my dad. Gave it another chance and ordered ziti bolognese, To Go, one night before a marathon I was running. I said I had an order to pick up and I asked the guy at the front, just confirming, if it was ziti bolognese that i ordered and he snottily pointed at the ticket and just pushed the stapled bag at me like I was an idiot. It was last order of the night I guess. I got it home to find it was a plate of Linguine Alfredo, which i dont like which is why i asked, plus that isnt good before a race! I went back the next night brought it with me and asked to speak to him. I handed it to him and said I want my $ 15 back. He opened it up and sheepishly handed me the money. He was an ass and I still was nice all 3 times I went there. Never again. Don’t make the mistake I made of even giving it a first chance.

The food is way better than you would expect when you see it/walk in. Yes, you can order pizza and it is very good; but the italian entrees are very good also. It is a very reasonable BYOB, and if you are into the company you are with and the food you are going to eat — it is a good place to go. Service does slow down a bit when it gets busy, but is always friendly.

Good is better than average. For those thinking fine Italian dining WRONG this is a typical pizza shop in a strip mall. Oh so slow, I called ahead ordered 1 Cheese Steak they told me 30 minutes yet an hour later there I stood waiting along with several others for our orders. While I waited I heard a couple tell the waitress it had been an hour and half and they still did not have thier good. One young man really did nothing a young girl busy on the phone taking orders and he would only put callers on hold for long waits to place orders. I suppose customers time is not important or really did not matter to him. This was a Wednesday night about 7:30 pm. Probably better off to find another pizza shop promoting Italian restaurant.

Went to Goochie Bros for a Friday night date and was so disappointed. This is essentially a pizza shop with tables set up. The bruschetta was nice but the rolls with dipping olive oil was so gross. The olive oil was bitter and they had dried Italian seasoning in it which had little flavor. I was thinking something simple so I ordered the turkey burger and my bf ordered the penne with sausage. He was brought a salad, which we shared. After we finished it, 10 minutes passed and they brought us another salad. We told them we already had the salad and they asked if we wanted another. No thanks. Our meal finally got to the table, but they had the wrong dish for my bf. The kitchen had screwed up I guess. The waitress had strong words with the cook. I know this because I saw the whole thing go down. Instead of copping to messing up the order she just said that the kitchen was busy and things were taking too long. Why lie to us? She was clearly upset because she kept slamming things on our table instead of taking out her frustration with the kitchen. It was very uncomfortable. I ate my burger while my boyfriend waited. My meal was so so. The burger was dry and not much flavor. After I finished, we waited for another 20 minutes and finally we got the right pasta dish. Then I sat there while watching my boyfriend eat. Not the point of date night. You would think that with such a bad experience, they would have compensated in some way, but no. Their prices for dinner were not that reasonable either. Also, their bathroom was awful. It was hot in there and there were flies. It had two doors, one to the kitchen and one to the restaurant. When I was in there, I kept worrying that someone was going to walk in on me. I have sworn to never go back here. This island is not a very big place, but I am sure there has to be better options with better service.
