Brighton Beach food shopping to me has typically meant fresh produce an great prices. Now you can add in ‘open twenty four hours’. I was quite surprised as I strolled by at 11:30 and was so curious from the great fruit and vegetable selection outside, I had to take a gander inside.
Outside was more of interest to me, as my jaw dropped due to the pricing structure. In my neighborhood of Forest Hills, you couldn’t buy rotten fruit and vegetables at these prices. Fourty nine cents a pound for a third of Mazals offerings? Unheard of in most every neighborhood regardless of ethnicity.
As I was in route to meet a my girlfriend, I only could explore for a few moments. So with an open handed upward thrust, I bagged two handfuls if pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and peanuts.
Once I was rung up my bill was $ 5.25.
