$ 18 well-spent. Been buzzing my own hair for years but I grew it out and it looked ridiculous. Mike«made it look good.» Small shop, no appointments. I just became a loyal customer.

Michael is fantastic! Definitely the best haircut I’ve had in the US! I have been looking for a good barbershop since I moved to the US last year. I have tried a couple of them, and every one of them left me with terrible haircuts. Gradually I developed a barber-phobia and tried to avoid getting a haircut as long as I could. Now, this is not coming from someone who has nice, straight, easy-to-cut hair. My hair is a mix of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern, so it is thick and hard to deal with. And it was a couple of months since I had my last haircut, so you can guess the mess. When I sat in the chair, Michael very nicely explained what he would do. I am terrible at explaining what I want at barbershops, so it was a blessing that he got me without a word from me. Unlike some people trying to get you done in five minutes so he can get as many customers as he can, Michael really paid attention to my hair and took his time to get everything right. The result is very nice! I am really happy I have finally found somewhere I can go without slightest hesitation. As Michael said, try him if you can handle looking good!

I walked in with really long hair, since I hadn’t gotten a cut in about a year. I was nervous that the barber would screw it up because it’s hard to deal with hair that long. He told me not to worry and he would take care of it, and he sure did! This is one of the best haircuts i’ve ever received, and he definitely has a loyal customer for as long as I live in Brighton. He was able to cut and style the hair without simply«buzzing» it, which is what would have happened if I had gone somewhere else. Seriously, 40+ years of experience does not lie.

Always friendly, always responsive. Everything you want in a barber and in a sole proprietor. I have sworn by Michael’s as long as I have lived in Brighton.

Went here last summer, writing a review now so I don’t forget where this place was for the next time I’m in Boston. I got my hair cut at a few places in the Boston area, and was never satisfied. Michael was phenomenal. Super knowledgeable, very skilled, friendly, and respectful. All for a fair price. If you are a guy getting a standard haircut, come here, no questions.

I’ve been getting haircuts in this area for six years now. Supercuts was the convenient place for me to go when I was an undergrad at BC, until I’d finally had it with sloppy hair cuts for $ 20. Michael was a breath of fresh air. I don’t know how he does it. He just started cutting without really asking me what I wanted, got it done in 5 minutes, and it came out great. The downside: cash only and somewhat irregular hours.

A few years ago as I went to sit in the chair at Michael’s I started giving a lot of specifics as to what I wanted done, and he basically said ‘shut up, I’ll make you look good.’ He didn’t actually say«shut up,» but whatever he really said was more polite and was basically that friendly way of fake-waving people off. Granted I was terrified at first, because for all of Mike’s merits as a barber, I wouldn’t want the hair style he wears, but then, you know what? He made me look good. He also stocks cycling magazines and Outside, which is a nice change of pace from the crap you get while waiting at most of the barber shops I’ve been to in the past… except for the one I went to when I lived in Silver Spring, MD that was owned and run by a really nice woman from(former Soviet) Georgia – she actually had Playboys out for us!

Been coming here for six years, and would not go anyplace else for a haircut. If you are looking for a fancy men’s salon, this is not your place. The place is old, and a little messy, but the barber seems to have an innate sense of what your haircut should be. He is very fast, has a good sense of humor, and is very appreciative of the business. I have never gotten a bad cut here.(Closed on Wednesday)

Good haircut for $ 20 including tip. Michael’s a good guy– friendly and funny with just the right amount of small talk. I’ll be going back

Walked into this place on a whim, not too bad. I was about to get a decent hair cut for $ 16, cash. I would say if it had close razor shave on the neck, that would give it another star. The barber isn’t too bad, he is a friendly guy with all sorts of interesting nick nacks on the wall and articles. Pretty entertaining. I can’t complain, I think he gave me a good hair cut. I wish he gave the razor shave on the back of the neck, but other than that… pretty standard barber shop, I was spoiled with my last barbershop experience so that is why it is 3 stars.

This place was great. The atmosphere has and old school barber type of feel. Michael is a funny guy and the people who drop in are hilarious. Its like getting a haircut in Jerry Seinfeld’s house. Now on to the cut. I began to tell him how I wanted my haircut. I usually have to explain to a new barber how I want my haircut. He told me to shut up and let him work his magic. Well it turned out great for the most part. He left my hair a little more even then I’m used to but at the same time he hit everything else perfectly. For $ 15 I would highly recommend this barber for anyone living in the Brighton area.

Awesome guy, fast and good with the scissors. He jokes that he could take out your appendix and I think he probably could. Also very handy with tips on pool, cars, and real estate, should you be in the market. There are some negative reviews, occasionally he’s got another guy in there about whom I have no information, maybe that’s the issue…

I have said in other reviews of barbershops that my cut is pretty difficult to frack up, but it can be done. This place proved the latter. I had to go get a second haircut 4 hours later when I got into better lighting and saw how uneven my half bald head was. FTR? might be due to lack of customers.
