Traveling thru this area on our way back to Oklahoma. We stopped in to grab a bite… catfish, collard greens, Mac & cheese and cornbread. Oh my! A totally awesome place with very friendly service. The folks that live around here are very lucky… I’d be eating at Eatz weekly if I lived in the area. And no matter how full you are, you MUST try the banana pudding! Home cooking at its finest!

On the road and stopped in Bristol for the night. We have never been here before so used Unilocal to locate a local place for dinner. The ratings were good and the reviews were good so we found Eatz. We were not disappointed. We had the fried catfish with collard greens, cornbread and macaroni and cheese. All were home cooked and all were excellent. The owner was very attentive and it was a pleasure visiting with him. Of course we had to try a bowl of banana pudding for dessert. It was also fantastic. I doubt we will ever be in Bristol again but you can bet that Eatz will be on our agenda if we pass through again.

Went there with my family and we had a good mix of different items and they were all excellent. We did not have the bbq and the owner Mark brought us out a sample and it gave me at least some order envy. We had the chocolate cake at the end and it was out of this world. Cannot recommend it enough. Just go you will not regret it.

I’m a little late posting but better late then never. This place is amazing! My dad is very picky and loved it! From the catfish to the fried okra, I can’t get enough. Not a good place to go when you’re watching your weight but a great place to enjoy a cheat meal. Will definitely be returning!

We had the jerk chicken quarter and fried catfish. Very tasty and fresh. My favorite side was baked macaroni. Home cooking at its finest.

This place never disappoints. I had the ribs, hush puppies, and fried okra for lunch. The ribs were outstanding, had great smoky flavor, and were very tender. The okra was very crispy, and the hush puppies were crunchy on the outside and just slightly gooey in the middle… exactly the way they should be. They do put sugar in their cornbread, which I am not used to, but it is still good anyway. There is a reason this place is always packed. I have never had a bad meal, and Mark and Lisa do it right.

Great southern food and hospitality. We didn’t see a closing time and showed up 5 mins after they closed. They asked us to come back and see them. We informed them we were just passing through on our way to New York from Phoenix. They said it wouldn’t be good southern hospitality if they didn’t serve us. This is a great little restaurant that I highly recommend if you’re in Bristol, VA.

You want to eat here. Drove all the way from Johnson city just to dine here And it was worth it. Catfish, sweet tea, and banana pudding = heaven. Get the banana pudding! Small place, but don’t be put off by the exterior. It’s the bees knees.

I walked by Eatz to go to another restaurant, which luckily was closed. After sitting down at Eatz I special ordered the barbecue beans, rice and corn bread(the combo usually comes with black beans). The BBQ beans were so tasty, as was the corn bread(crispy on the outside, moist and delicious on the inside). The server was SO nice and attentive and everyone who worked there were warm people too. I hope to return to have that good-looking banana pudding that passed by me. I’m so happy that I ate here!

I ate here not 25 minutes ago and it was the best damn bbq meal I’ve had in the U.S. I had the ribs and they were juicy, juicy, juicy. A hint of smoke. So freaking good. The side of greens was delicious and the Mac and cheese cheesy and buttery. Everyone working there was a delight, including the feller who runs the place who’d suggested I stop in(possibly after spotting my out of state plates).

I had meatloaf, beans, and potatoes. Decent enough, but the meatloaf was bland and seemed leftover from lunch. Banana pudding for desert was good. Waitress was helpful.

This is my favorite place for home cooking in Bristol. The fried catfish is crispy and delicious. BBQ is right on, but my favorite is the cornbread and beans for lunch. Then throw a few cut up fresh onions in there you’re in comfort food heaven. Just like Mama used to make. Great and friendly service. Clean and neat and a great place for a casual business guest meeting or take the family and friends. PS…don’t forget to have some nanner puddin.

I just had BBQ the past few days in Charlotte and I’m originally from Texas. Let’s just say I know BBQ pretty well. The BBQ platter had some of the most delicious BBQ pork. The BBQ sauce is homemade. The sides were also very good. I subbed out the fries for collard greens and seasoned them with vinegar. I hit the BBQ beans with a tad bit of pepper sauce and the Cole slaw was just perfect all by itself. That meal was absolutely delicious. I finished off my visit with a banana pudding that was one calorie shy of a heart attack. It was the most amazing banana pudding I’ve ever had.

This is my first time eating here. I wanted home cooking and this popped up on Unilocal so I thought I would try it. I’m soooo glad I did! They make the BEST cornbread I have ever eaten. Being from the South, I have eaten a lot of cornbread. Definitely worth a trip back!

Eatz is located in the heart of downtown Bristol, on the one way part of Moore St. As one of the other Unilocalers put it, very unassuming. The place is small, the décor is nothing special or fancy, hint of country charm seating, I think I counted maybe 8 tables. They do offer take out and catering. Check out their website. I was greeted by a pleasant, mannerly young man, he sat me and proceeded to inform me of the daily special. Salmon pattie with 2 sides and cornbread $ 8.95. I’m in on that. So I choose collard greens and cole slaw as my 2 sides. The salmon(fried of course) was slightly crisp outside and moist and flavorful inside. The collard greens had exceptional flavor and texture, not cooked to a soggy heap, nor undercooked til you couldn’t get em down(there is an art to cooking collards) The Cole slaw was amazing. Slightly creamy, sweet and bit of a tang, just the right amount of celery seed and salt. Finally, the cornbread, some of the best I’ve ever had. Moist, thick, kinda fluffy and tad bit of sweetness. Needless to say I cleaned my plate with a very happy face, and all the while reminiscent of both my grandmothers cooking. Eatz is a little hidden gem, a rarity, that is locally owned by real Bristolians. Serving up some of the best southern food I’ve had. The service was oustanding, just good old hospitality. Eatz you definitely got it going on! I’ll be back for some of that catfish and chicken!

A guilty pleasure. Try the collard greens, macaroni and cheese, the fried chicken! If banana pudding is on the special board, go for it! It is presented as a scoop of mousse-like heaven on a plate with fresh bananas and tiny vanilla wafers adorning the top. I have never had better.

Eatz is a small, unassuming place, serving up some of the best food I’ve ever tasted. Their pastas, meatloaf, and chicken are all wonderful, but my favorite by far, and what keeps me coming back, is the catfish special on Fridays. Now, I wouldn’t normally even eat catfish– who wants a bottom feeder that feasts on lake trash? Um, I do if it comes from Eatz! The only downside(if there is one) is that this is a family-owned place, so sometimes the service can be a bit slow. It is definitely worth the wait, though! Everything is homemade, and that macaroni and cheese just makes me smile!
