First visit was wonderful! Thanks to Unilocal for steering me toward another great restaurant.
The fish was fresh and the waitress was very attentive. I had the yellowtail roll, salmon roll, and shrimp tempura roll. When I asked for a side of spicy mayo she brought some without any questioning looks. It was a yummy lunch and I’ll be back again soon!

Yum. Yum. Yum. Don’t be fooled by their basic exterior and standard sushi pictures on the window. They have a huge selection of specialty rolls as well as the basics. We ordered 4 rolls and 2 small appetizers and couldn’t be happier with our experience. The platter came to the table full, fresh and beautiful– and turned out to be delicious. Personally, I enjoyed it all and will most definitely return!
They do a booming takeout business based on how many folks we saw waiting for take out or coming in for pick ups. We might have to try it sometime.

peoples are super nice and always friendly and concern about your food! theyi ve recommendation. good pricing along with the fact that I always get gadzilla and my husband get the combo3A! love how they say welcome in Japanese! the downside they are so unique not like other restaurants! don’t have rice dishes just sushi and sashimi. they close 3 – 430 to prepare for switch for lunch that got me confuse at first! but love it!

Possibly the freshest fish in the NOVA area. Much fresher than Tachibana (McLean) and Yoshi (Vienna).
I have been to all many many times. this place wins in freshness.

Best sushi in the area hands down! They have all types of fun sushi rolls to try out… can seem pricey for the fancier ones but they give you a big portion! The service is always friendly and prompt. As far as the sashimi and nigiri… it’s the freshest and superior taste!
I would highly recommend AKA to update their website & take out menu with all the fun rolls they make. I know some of these are specials and they might not always have them but I feel like most of them they have year round. I know many novice sushi eaters aren’t big on sashimi but love rolls so that might help bring in more customers!

The service was decent, and the food was okay. Speed in which they served us was good. They also gave us a small taste of various pickles for free, which was nice of them (Thus the extra star instead of the two I really think this deserved).
However, I don’t plan on going to them again.
As a huge sushi fan, I’ve been to many different places, and understand some level of pricing when it comes to sushi.
We ordered the Sashimi boat, which was $ 80.95. The beet flower was fancy, but we thought the experience was overall… well, «Meh, I’ve experienced better.» The amount of fish we got wasn’t much. The fish was fresh-​tasting, and we did enjoy them for what they were; but if they weren’t good quality at that price, I’d feel very angry.
I guess I’ll just be making my trip back up to Germantown for sushi that’s worth the price and well, even better service.

Simply WOW! This place treats me like a valued customer. Besides how great the sushi is, the service is awesome and very personal. They make you feel welcome and their appreciation shows. I’m a regular, and they continue to impress me every time I go.

Meh. When we arrived, we wondered why the restaurant was practically empty on a Saturday night. After our meal, we no longer wondered. It was far from the freshest or most flavorful sushi I’ve ever eaten. Taste and quality was similar to grocery store sushi. Fine for a plastic tray of sushi from the grocery store; not so much for a restaurant. The specials were a bit confusing as there were two specials menus delivered with the regular menu, but also a specials board at the sushi bar. The board couldn’t be seen from our table, so we had to get up and stand in front of the sushi bar to read it. Fortunately, the restaurant not being crowded meant we weren’t disturbing other customers while standing there. The waitstaff was very attentive and the sushi chefs were delightful. Kudos to them for their service, but I’m certainly not compelled to return.

We got the B special which was three rolls for about 40 dollars. It was awesome. The first and the third roll was the best. I wish that I knew the names of the different rolls but I forget! Either way the first roll had avacado on top of it and it was delicious. It also included a tuna roll and I believe a California roll. Whatever just get everything because the sushi is amazing. I just came back from San Francisco where sushi is amazing and this place is on par with the best places in San Fran.

This is my go to for sushi by my house. I love the 007, dynamite, black diamond, and captain crunch rolls. Very friendly staff and quick. This is a smaller restaurant so it is quaint. Warning it does have a deep fried odor in the air.

Aka Sushi was a great find. My husband and I were driving around and decided we were in the mood for sushi. We went in at 2pm so it wasn’t busy at all. In fact we were the only table. We were greeted right away. The restaurant is small so I would get there early if your going out for dinner.
We ordered Salmon, Spicy combo, the New Volcano Roll, and the Captain Crunch. The sushi was fresh and the presentation was great. I would highly recommend the Captain Crunch roll. I read a review that recommended it and it did not disappoint. Great choice! If we are in the area again we will defiantly stop by.

They have some creative rolls here and a wide selection. Their sashimi was well cut and had wasabi under the fish, a trademark of a good sushi place. We ordered a ton of sushi and it was reasonably priced — $ 85 for 3 people. We thought they messed up a couple of the rolls based on what was served, but it was all good. I’m taking a star off because we sat next to the bathroom and there were several strong whiffs of flatulence that couldn’t be avoided. Sit near the entrance to be safe.

Aka sushi is the best sushi place I’ve been. Especially the special rolls that Kenny makes are amazing. My favorite is the Kenny Roll. I cannot say enough how awesome this place is!!!
