My wife and I went to the farmer’s market today and it was a bit of let down. There were only 8 – 10 vendors and we were in and out in less than five minutes. Hopefully as we get into summer they will add more vendors.

The local Smart Markets Farmer’s Market that used to be in Virginia Gateway has moved twice. First they moved down to the Bristow Montessori School in Bristow, VA, now they are located in the parking lot of Piney Branch Elementary School in Bristow, VA. Until Unilocal updates the address for this listing — the new address is: Smart Markets Farmer’s Market Piney Branch Elementary School 8301 Linton Hall Rd Bristow, VA20136 Apparently when Smart Markets decided their location at the Bristow Montessori School did not offer them the kind of space they desired, the way in which they communicated the cancellation of the FM at this location to the vendors caused a rift with a number of the vendors — who formed their own independent Farmer’s Market — they are still at the Bristow Montessori School location. In any case, this is a good Farmer’s Market — two of my favorite vendors at this FM include: — Great Harvest Warrenton — Blue Dog BBQ There are also a number of fresh fruit and vegetable vendors here, providing local produce! Check ‘em out!

Great local farmers market! Two stands that are a MUST see are 1) LOTHAR’S Sausages… OMG, they are ALL fabulous… you will NOT be disappointed, and 2) the peaches from the WVa grower. They are AMAZING! I have to throw in a great kudos to Martin’s Beef as well… the skirt steaks and flank that we’ve gotten have been outstanding. Just a bit pricier, but to have beef on occasion, it’s okay. Again, visit Lothar(a very nice German man) and pick out any of his pork sausages! They are lean, but still so succulent, moist and flavorful. They do not flare up when grilled! We have SERIOUSLY been impressed with them!

The past two weekends I’ve stopped by this farmers market to see the goings on. From my recollection there’s been 3 produce stands, 2 salsa/condiment stands, kettle corn cart, fresh seafood stand, red meat, chicken stand, bar-b-q, local wine, a bread maker, and emu products. I’ve only purchased from the produce stands so far. The vendor from WV has amazing peaches
