Good food and quick mostly friendly service. Their ensalada de pulpo is fresh and they serve big portions. My only negative experience was today as the woman who sat us was rude and disrespectful. Normally, this ain’t the case.

I have eaten here a few times and had many of the dishes and appetizers… as follows: Pernil is great!!! Alcapurrias are great!!! Pasteles are good Chicken mofongo is different… usually restaurants will stew the chicken and put it on top of the mofongo. Brisas chops up the chicken and mashes it all together with the plantains. It wasn’t bad, just different and a little dry. For some reason they gave me beef stew sauce to pour on top on the Mofongo. Garlic shrimp was great and the beans they serve with rice are VERY good! Chicken stew is to die for! Unfortunately I had to minus two stars because the place doesn’t appear to be very clean. The floor was sticky and the bathroom is something out of a horror movie, if they cleaned the place up a little it would be a lot more appealing. But I will definitely eat here again because the food is great!

Always great food here. The décor leaves something to be desired but if you’re coming here it’s to eat, not to hang out or anything. Its usually very busy and sometimes the service can really lack for that but I feel the quality of the food makes up for it. The portion sizes for every entrée are always enough for two people to split and the prices are great for what you’re getting. The staff doesn’t all speak English, or speak it well, so that’s an issue if you don’t know Spanish.

I was in the East Coast a few weeks ago and stopped by my old stomping ground. This restraurant has a special place in heart, growing up when you wanted that one homemade meal that made you feel warm inside. This is the place you must go! This place is a hole in the wall in the middle block of Castle Hill but it’s alway spilling out with people placing orders or trying to get an available table. There bake chicken is the best in the Bronx… with tender red or black beans to accompany the yellow or white rice. The pepper steak is so tender and moist with large portions of red and black peppers. The food is truly amazing. It’s made to order so it’s always fresh. The waitress are shaped like coke bottles so this is a favorite place for the guys to catch a quick look when their girlfriends or wives aren’t looking. Everything is $ 15 or less so you can take the entire family out for a great meal and still have money left over to head to the movies. Boy, I do miss this place! Until next time East Coast…

Been here many times over the years and decided its about time I wrote a review. I simply love this place. The chicken soup is great. You get a whole pics of chicken in the soup along with potatoes, carrots and Noddle’s. The broth is exceptional! I usual get the chicken with rice and beans lunch special $ 5.50 It’s so worth it. My husbands usually is the stewed beef lunch special for $ 6.00 They have a large choice and everything is really tasty! Stop reading and get there NOW!

This place is as authentic as it gets… some of the best spanish food I’ve ever had! Brings back memories of my PR neighbors in FL who used to cook for me. This is a must stop place if you’re in the city, HUGE portions, delicious food. I’ve had the chicken, rice & beans, and the platanos, so so good. I cant wait until I’m in NY again to visit this gem.

I used to come to Brisas often but over time the place has gotten progressively worse!!! The first thing we noticed is that there was homeless man sleeping on the floor right in front of where you get seated. Next, The customer service is horrible. 20 minutes before a waitress even looked our way. When we tried to get a waitress attention, she looked right at us and get walking not even an acknowledgement or a «un momento por favor». We got more attention from the Chinese man selling the counterfeit DVDs. At least he acknowledged us. After, 35 minutes a waitress finally did a favor and took our order and waited for another 30 min from food from the steam trays in front. Not even from the kitchen. The food was meh… if that. Save yourself a trip and go further down on Castle Hill. There’s a hole in the wall Spanish spot that serves better food for takeout.

One of the best places that I have been to for Spanish food. The pernil is off the hook as well as the rotisserrie chicken. The habichuela and rice are good. I have also had the chicharron de pollo and that was also great. You cant beat the prices either. They have fast and friendly service. They do have a B rating. I’VENEVERGOTTENSICK.

Unenthused. Maybe it was just my meal… the oxtail for start was too fatty… tender and tasty meat for sure, but too much fat to pick through. The plantains were OK, pretty standard. Rice and gandules were pretty good, but even my bf makes them better. The pastelito(ground beef) had a strange, almost gamey taste. I noticed that they were out of a lot of their menu items(i had 2 alternatives i would have rather eaten than oxtail, but they were out). Service kinda sucked. Waitress not attentive, i guess cuz we didnt speak Spanish. Her English was very limited, but furthermore you could TELL she doesnt like her job. Or maybe it was a bad day but this chick was moody af. Even the other waitress who came and checked on us was more pleasant though she spoke NO english. at all lol. On one hand, i enjoyed the authenticity in that way, but on the flip side how are you providing a business to Americans and your employees can’t communicate with the patrons? Whatever. I’m from MD, so have no intention on returning next time im in NY. Maybe if the food was better. But 2 stars because the food was edible, they had a good crowd(the place got full at one point) which usually speaks well for the restaurant, ppl did seem to enjoy their meals, and prices werent bad at all.

Well went here because the other place was packed and the food was pretty good. It was confusing on how you order but once you get it it’s not bad. And the portion size is huge.

I’ve came to this place many times before and the food was delicious… over time they have gotten extremely careless. The food isn’t that great anymore(at least for take out) wouldn’t come back and wouldn’t suggest not even for a quick bite.

Great no frills Dominican(Puerto Rican, Cuban) type dishes at prices that allow you to eat, and eat, and eat. Service is generally good, the food is mouth watering, not gourmet, but who needs gourmet when what you really want to do is eat!

This place is always packed and has yet to disappoint. The pernil is always well seasoned and if you ask for a little crispy skin they are happy to oblige. Arroz con gandules will remind you of your moms cooking and the pasteles are delicious too. Aside from the wait time, this place is a little Bronx gem and the prices are great too. I highly recommend.

Visiting from Pennsylvania I try to stop at Brisas Del Caribe. The second you walk in you are greeted with salsa music and the sweet aroma of abuelitas kitchen. We were a party of 7 and waited all of 5 minutes. We order pernil con arroz gandules. The roast pork(pernil) is moist and seasoned to perfection. We also ordered carne guisada(beef stew) that was tender and well seasoned. Every bite took me back to the Caribbean with warm comforting breezes that are never ending. Another plate we ordered was the chicharron de pollo(fried chicken chunks) it comes with bone in or bone out option. We had to try both and we did. I took bone out option and was disappointed. The chicken was dry and hard to eat. I had to squeeze fresh lime, garlic dressing, and hot sauce just to eat it. But coño the bone in was delicious! The chicken had a seasoning that we had to be careful not to bite our fingers. Lastly, my mom ordered the chuletas(pork chops) with sweet plantains. She loved it! We tried to take a piece from her and she literally growled at us. So if your in the Castle Hill area of the Bronx. Brisas Del Caribe is the spot.

one of the best places in New York for Dominican food. I have not been disappointed yet. The décor does need to be modernized, Any the ladies could learn to be nicer. otherwise than that, this place make great food.

If you are looking for good latin food, then this is the place to go. I have been coming here for over ten years and the food is always spot on. My personal favorite are the pork chops aka chuleta. No other place serves them up as well as they do. The rice is fluffy and flavorful and the beans are out of this world. I have never had a bad meal here, and I say that after coming here for many years and ordering different things from the menu. Now do not expect ambiance, because thats not what you come to Brisas for, and also service is hit or miss, but that is a cultural thing. Brisas is not a first date type of joint, there are plenty of other places that have better ambiance but sub par food. If you are on the go, you can order one of their lunch specials and take it on the go. The only reason this place did not get 5 stars is because of the one star for service and ambiance.
