I loved this place! I say«loved» because as I had a severe craving for a gyro and Christos was the only place I wanted to go to, I discovered that it’s now closed. CLOSED! Man I was bummed out. The food is great and the owner, Christos is a class act. If you’re eating to stay, he personally does his best to ensure the you have a great dining experience, despite the small setting. I’m going to sorely miss this place.

I’ve always loved this place, which has been there for quite a long time. But tonight I was disappointed to find it permanently closed, at least according to the sign on the door. I’m curious as to what led to its closing.

They have a simple menu that they execute perfectly. Their prices are low and their service is quick. They don’t pretend to be anything that they’re not. A great choice for a quick dinner after work. Try the hummus.

Pretty tasty gyro for $ 6.53 from a kinda very nice yet simultaneously kinda very standoff-ish proprietor. Worth a walk from the train, but there are better options closer.

This place is just ok… Certainly not amazing if you’re used to eating at fine establishments in Manhattan as I am. Everything is done just fine, but the ingredients are not of the greatest quality, which is probably my main issue, BUT given the price point, you can’t complain too much. I’ve gotten take-out from here twice since the prices are so reasonable, and I’ve decided to sample an array of things(most recently today) and came away with the same feeling… Fine for a take-out place given the price point, but certainly not 5 stars. Sorry, but the people giving this place 5 stars clearly aren’t used to eating at high-end establishments or know what natural or organic food tastes like, so I’m led to believe that the person that made two reviews about how amazing the burgers are probably thinks McDonald’s is amazing too. I had a bacon cheeseburger from here since that’s what I was really craving. The burger was just fine, but it was obvious that the beef that they use was likely just some frozen patties that had been cooked, and the beef itself was not of the highest quality. The bacon was cooked nicely and was actually the highlight ingredient on the burger… Crisp and tasty… The cheese used was tolerable, but quality wise I’ve had MUCH better. Certainly wasn’t what I was expecting, but it dealt with my craving until I can get to one of my regular spots in the city that make real burgers using fresh ground beef. The food I had today reminded me of eating at a grease spoon place as a kid… In other words, there’s a cheeseburger and there’s a cheeseburger… Fries done that can be amazing and then there’s fries that are just okay… I will say that the baklava was AMAZING… One of the best that I’ve tasted, and I’ve eaten at Greek places in Astoria and this certainly ranks up there. Their gyro despite their claims while good, is not the best gyro around either, but again for the price point it’s certainly not bad. In short for the prices they charge the food is good, but not over the top good, but you can always expect a decent meal, so from time-to-time, I will certainly continue to order from here. My other pet peeve and why I don’t order from here more often is that I wish they stepped into 2015 and got a website that you could place orders on. I spent almost 10 minutes placing an order over the phone. The guy who I dealt with while friendly and patient, clearly doesn’t speak English well because I had to repeat EVERYTHING at least three or four times, and I only ordered three items from the menu. Pain in the ass to say the least…

I love eating at Mom and Pop Restaurants, and Christos is the BEST Greek M&P i’ve ever been to. Not to mention the fantastic food and super friendly service. Order from here often and everything they send is excellent and reasonably priced and the food is FRESH. Try everything on the Menu, you can’t go wrong with the Avgolemono or the Gyros but it’s all worth trying!

Top-notch gyro and avgolemono(chicken lemon soup). The gyro was tasty and constructed well so as to get meat, veg, bread and sauce in every bite without making a mess. The avgolemono, the proprietor informed me was made to order. This soup was superb, world-class. Friendly people. Clean, bright place. I will return at the next opportunity.

I’ve been ordering from this place since I moved to this neighborhood about three years ago. Everything I’ve had from here is the best, really not kidding. I went up to the other greek place nearby and was so dissapointed I had wished I went here instead. They have burgers here too and they are some of the best burgers I’ve had. The cook — grill man cooks them perfectly everytime and he cares enough to make little hole on the top of your container so your food is never soggy when it gets to you. The gyros are the best in this area by far. The falafels are delicious, and they come with a really good nutty sauce. All their vegetables and salads are fresh and their tomatoes are tasty and ripe always.

I’ve been eating here since the place opened up! Gyros are A M A Z I N G! I grew up in the area and moved to the city a few years ago and still make sure I hit this place up every time I come and see my mom. Got even luckier since the place I get my hair salon is right next to it(Brazilian day spa salon, mimi is great!) I made my bf try the food here and after he was done eating asked if I had hyped it up, he gave it a big thumbs up and is just as obsessed now.

I am legendary here, like Dracula. They call me the Count of Monte Christos Gyros. Seriously. Actually I was disappointed by this place. Comparing it to two of the best Gyros in the USA which are mere blocks away… Greek Express and my favourite, Gyro World on Fordham… it just doesn’t come close. However if we forget about those two succulent, amazing, perfect Gyros and focus only on this Gyro on its own merits, it’s a good Gyro. It’s well worth a try. A solid 4-star Gyro, but definitely not an out-of-this-world 5. And who the heck is saying this is the best Gyro in NYC? The Daily News? I’m going to have to deduct a star for that, and file it under the«overrated» column. Ridiculous. And they weren’t too friendly either, compared to Greek Express down the road. I also got the lemon soup because everyone raved about it, and it didn’t really do anything for me. If I ever come back, I’d get the Gyro, but with 2 of the best Gyros in the country right here in The Bronx, it’s hard to imagine coming back. Maybe to try something different. However if you’re a Gyro fanatic and want to try all the good and great Gyros in town, then make sure you give this one a try. It’s in the«good» pile, for me. For you, it might be different. But for people saying this is the best Gyro in town? Jesus Christos! Christos on a Bike! I’ve Chrossedos Christos off my list of «Gyros to try» and I’m done like a Prom Queen.

I was having one of the worst days of my life until I came to this place and had a gyro! Not only was the gyro delicious, especially the tzatziki, but the staff were friendly, kind, and accommodating. This is a great, affordable place with very nice people and a friendly atmosphere. Definitely would recommend.

Greek Gyro galore! My new found role + an unknown terrain have me piggy backing with co-workers to learn to cultivate way. Sit down lunch for party of two was quick and simple with Gyros. Since departing civilization of commercialize Manhattan island food options has been limited in my new terrain but I now know about Greek Gyro. I may be unique… I was never a fan of Falafel, but I am highly addicted to Gyros. I like all genres of Gyro: pork, lamb, beef or chicken and Tzatziki sauce(white creamy sauce). I prefer authentic and traditional methods turning back time to once was to cultivate the way. I did not see any broiler rotisserie hanging from the ceiling where thin shards of meat are hand craved. However, it was served fresh, piping hot and snugly foil and wax wrapped to prevent the pita from spillage when bitten into. The pita bread is fresh. Price is very reasonable compared to Manhattan as the outer boroughs are slightly less. Sit down dinning is available and service is attentive. Since my co-worker is a regular at Christos Gyro I was treated with professionalism courtesy. Staff make regulars feel very welcomed and make mockery jokes to you. They have a private parking lot. Atmospheric conditions are not glamorous but they sure have GOODQUALITYEATS! They also have rice pudding as I miss having one of my favorite Mediterranean dessert so much. Sadly, I forgot to order before departure of Christos… oh man! Note: Free delivery to DABRONX! No alcohol.

The food is alright, the attitude of the people that work there however leaves a lot to be desired. I called one evening and although my order met the minimum delivery requirement, I’m in their delivery radius and the weather was fare. They refused to deliver because it wasn’t a «big enough» order. GOTOGREEKEXPRESS instead where they at least treat you like they want your business.

My favorite gyro in the Bronx! Great people and awesome service. They were listed as the one of the best in New York City. Now I know why.

I get the falafel plate with rice and a side of grape leaves. For a place known for the shaved meat, the vegetarian eats are very very good!

If you’re craving greek this is the place to go. Fresh flavors and super friendly service. Not a 5 star sit down place but more of a local gem. They don’t do a great job of explaining the dishes– so if you don’t know greek food do your research before hand. Visited with 4 people and the bill averaged about $ 10 per person.

The food is excellent. Lamb gyro is lean yet succulent., the pita fresh and fluffy yet crisp and the the scratch baklava and lemon soup are sublime. Craveable. I’ve never been to Greece, but this is exceptionally consistent and fresh quality by any reasonable standards for a neighborhood joint.

There is a homely feel to this restaurant. Anyone who knows me knows I love a little hole-in-the-wall. My aunt lives down the street from this place and recommended it to me because I told her I love gyros. The gyro I had was cheaper than usual(I live in Miami and Mediterranean food is amongst the most expensive cuisines down there) and larger than usual. I couldn’t finish it. My pita was so fresh. And the tzatziki sauce was nice and thick! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone… Plus they deliver!

If you want to go somewhere to eat and feel like«family» then Christos is the place to go. The gyros are really good and probably the least expensive you will find in any restaurant anywhere. Chris is always ready with one of his dumb jokes, and often gives away extras for free. I love the lamb gyros, and while not huge, they will definitely fill you up. For desert try the Baklava. It is deliciously sweet and flaky and I’m pretty sure his wife makes it from scratch. My dad demands that we eat here every time he’s in town, and my son feels the same way. I highly recommend Christos for a great time, and a great meal!
