The place was cute and rather empty for lunch on a weekday. The décor was bright and welcoming. The service was great and super friendly. I ordered a spanakopita, chicken gyro sandwich, and falafel which I shared with a friend. The serving size was great very hearty but I was SO underwhelmed with taste. Everything was so bland and the falafel was so dry. The consistency of the spanakopita was great but there was NO flavor. Not what I was expecting at all to be honest. I probably wouldn’t come back.

The inside décor is cute, it’s made to look like santorini with blue and white accents. I haven’t had Greek in a while but my favorite thing to order is a spinokapita, which is what I got as my appetizer. The app was flaky and tasted authentic. My problem lies with the falafel and chicken souvlaki that I shared with my friend. Both were very bland. I ordered the falafel thinking it would be somewhat similar to the falafel carts In the city… But yea no. Lol

Disgusting customer service!!! I will not, cannot give this business my money anymore!!! They do not accommodate customers! I called in for a pick up order. Chicken gyro w fries. $ 11 dollars… Okay… I was told I CANNOTPAY with my DEBIT(bank card). Why??? Well they have a minimum of $ 20 for purchase?? Unbelievable!!! Excuse me for not having cash but shall I excuse them for having such idiotic card purchase minimum!!! They obviously don’t care for me as a customer and for their business!

There’s a large disconnect between its popularity on Unilocal and its popularity in reality. The primarily competition, Lefteris Gyro in Yonkers(and throughout Westchester) and Christos Gyro down the hill in Kingsbridge, outclasses Greek Express in quality of the food, portion size, speed of service, and, most glaringly, price.

I go to school in the area and every time I come back, I love this place more and more. You are always greeted in the sweetest way by the men working inside. The gyro meat really is the perfect blend of spices. And is always so moist. The bifteki is a cool greek style burger. Have it with a side of fries. The fries here are PHENOMENAL. Weird at a Greek place, I know, but they are seasoned perfectly and always so crisp. The calamari is the best I’ve ever had. Light and not too heavily seasoned. The moussaka is such a comforting dish with the perfect nutmeg taste. It also comes with greek salad with a nice piece of feta and pita slices. The Mesogiaki salad is out of this world. The tart vinaigrette is perfect with the sweet apples, crunchy walnuts and salty haloumi cheese. The haloumi cheese is pan fried, crispy and addictive. Enjoy this salad!

Extremely rude and absolutely NO customer service skills!!! I walked in for the first time thinking about ordering a gyro. I hadn’t had one in a long time. When it was my turn to be helped, I needed to ask if their pita contained egg, as my breastfed daughter has a severe egg allergy. Both gentleman at the counter said they didn’t know. I said, would you please check for me, I have an egg allergy. Without even looking at me, he said I’m not sure, continuing to take care of other things he had in front of him. I stood there for a few moments thinking that they were going to look at the bag ingredients of the pita or find out from someone who knew. They didn’t. I was left standing there and they completely ignored me. I said, «I’ll guess I’ll get food from somewhere else.» Nothing… I walked out. I will never go in there again.

HORRIBLE service! i ordered take out at 620pm and it came at 8pm!!! i’ve never had take out take over an 1HOUR and 30 minutes to arrive. fire the driver or this place will lose customers. of course, it came cold and disgusting and the food is not cheap. if ur going to charge manhattan prices than act like a manhattan restaurant. portions are small too. I’m going to try the Greek restaurant in Riverdale. … Christos Gyro on Kingsbridge Ave. Heard it’s good.

Just had a chicken souvlaki sandwich. It was delicious. Very delicious. The guy behind the counter seemed really helpful with people in the phone.

Only tried them for take-out, but they were fast and efficient and the Gyro sandwich was fantastic. It was made with lamb, as it should be. It filled the whole car with a wonderful aroma that made everyone wish they were eating that Gyro. All the food coming out of the kitchen looked fresh and delicious. The ambiance was very nice and cozy.

I think this place is a great small Greek restaurant. It is not huge(maybe about 15 tables) but it has a good selection, great flavor, and offers take out. We brought my mother in law(who is Greek I might add) down to Riverdale to check out the neighborhood and we figured this was or best option for lunch. We had lemon chicken soup, zucchini fritters, spinach pie, gyro, and Greek chicken. Everyone was super happy with their meal(including my mother in law, which should be a testament all on its own.) I found the food nice and light(not to oily) and with a great balance of flavors. I will say that we only got the Greek dishes. The owners are from a Greek island and so clearly their wheelhouse is Greek island cuisine. In general, I was very happy with the meal and the prices so I will be back. It’s not the best Greek restaurant I have been to, but I think this is a really great option on the north side of town when you don’t want to go all way to Astoria.

I have been going to this place since it has opened, which has been a few yrs now and I don’t know what happened to this restaurant??? I drove down from Westchester to grab a quick bite and I have to say, I’m extremely disappointed. I ordered a lentil soup, absolutely bland! Like it was just beans and water with carrots. Also ordered a chicken on a stick and pork stick and they too, were both dry and bland. No flavor at all. This place made pretty good food in the beginning and now it completely fell off. There are plenty of places to eat in Riverdale and this just isn’t one of them. Their competitor down by Broadway, is far superior than this place. If you want authentic Greek food made by a mother and not by someone other than a Greek cook, then check them out. Unfortunately, I had to post this review to give others an opportunity to decide where to really go. And their policy of minimum $ 20 credit card charge? Really?! Either step up your game, or you’ll keep losing customers like myself, because I cannot return after the meal I had this evening. They don’t even deserve the one star.

I know how to press«X» on an English language keyboard, but I would have no idea how to do a «Greek X-Press.» I can try and figure it out though if you want me to. In the meantime, journey up to the Bronx and try this little unassuming adorable restaurant way up in the North part not far from the very top of Manhattan and S & S Cheesecake and so on, and try one of the best Gyros in New York City. What to get: Gyro. What else: Just a city boy, born and raised in South Bronx, took a midnight train going anywhere. Would I date my Turkish ex again? No. Greek ex? Yes. My favourite Gyro in NYC(not including the real pork Gyro at BZ Grill in Queens) is at Gyro World not too far from here, also in Bronx. However their inconsistency led me to seek out other Gyros in the town, and my word, I found a very good one named«Greek Express.» If you have a former lover in East Greece and another in Western Greece, then this place would be more suited to your«Greek Ex — West.» As you can see from my picture, it’s a cheap, saucy, hefty, delicious Gyro with perfect Gyro meat, with fresh crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes and sauce, and of course soft fluffy yummy pita bread. All of the elements of this Gyro are perfect, so while it’s not as good as Gyro World when Gyro World is «on», it’s consistently fantastic and I never come to the Bronx without getting a Gyro from here. The service is nice, the prices are low(I think it’s under $ 6 for a Gyro), it’s a generous portion, in other words you won’t get a much better Gyro than this anywhere in the country. If your former flame from Athens is bothering you, that’s «Greek Ex Stress» and if the girl you used to date from Thessaloniki left some of her clothing with you, that’s your«Greek Ex’s Dress.» I have a few«Greek Exs» myself, and no, I didn’t focus on Greek style sex with them, thank you very much. Not that I’m opposed to it. But you know. It’s just not the focus. Anyway. Get a Gyro here. Thank me later.

One of the worst take out meals I have had in a long time. First, they messed up our order. My lamb pita platter was sent with the salad it was supposed to have. Second, the falafels and fries in my wife’s platter were deep fried what must have been very old oil. She spent the next sick at home. Thus is one place I will never go back to.

I enjoyed my lamb chops so there is nothing I can complain about. The rice was meeh. But I am not a fan of rice so don’t take my opinion of it. The fried zucchini were yummy.

The view of this joint from the street kinda gets you questioning the name, as it seems entirely designed for dine-in(which no one was doing on my visit). The amount of time it took to get a chicken souvlaki as the sole patron also had me skeptical of the nomenclature*, as I waited while the staffers gathered around a phone at a table in the dining area with its volume blasting. Forked over $ 7.60 from the warm older fella(a younger guy had handed me a laminated menu after I was straining to read the handwritten one way up on the wall — I’m tall and still found this completely impractical and a waste of their effort). Enjoyed the food, but not sure I can justify another 5-star review for the joint. *Also, the credit card minimum is the highest I’ve seen in a very long time — not exactly conducive to takeout.

I love this place! Such a great addition to Riverdale. I’ve been here a few times either with family for casual lunch, and with my fiancé for date night. All I can say is YUM! I’ve tasted pretty much every single appetizer on the menu and haven’t found one I didn’t like. Good portion sizes for a great price, and you can’t beat the desserts!
