Dollar slice pizza joints are still popping up all over the city, more so in Manhattan, but also here in the Bronx. The competition is intense and just how much can you really make on $ 1 a slice? After paying for the flour, tomato sauce, cheese, gas & electric bill, you gotta sell a hellava lot of pizza to make the rent. If you need a buttload of pizza, fast, then this is your place. So every once in a while, I’ll order a load of pizza to deliver for school club meetings. I call up Corner Pizza, order up 6 – 8 pies and they crank them out like nobody’s business. This place is popular with the neighborhood kids, especially with the 2 large high schools within a few blocks. The slices are good sized with good cheese & sauce coverage and the crust is not ridiculously thin with a good chew. I would say taste is a little better than the 2 Bros dollar slices in Manhattan. There’s usually muni-meter parking in front on Jerome Ave. Just be careful dodging the steel columns of the elevated 4 train as you pull in or pull out of the parking lane into traffic.
