I’ve been a customer at this duane reade location for years because it’s very convenient being just steps from the 4 train. Customers will also find it to be very clean as well as friendly, helpful customer service staff.

Selection-wise, the pharmacy is almost as good as any other Duane reades, however, I’ve noticed now twice that they don’t regularly restock on certain pharmaceuticals(specifically I overheard someone complaining about the lack of Plan B pills). When it comes to service though, it’s a hit-and-miss. More than half of the employees fool around and take their time when helping customers, and you’re in for a disappointment if you expect them to be courteous. The cashier that was at the register today, Zuleika(according to the name tag), decided to text while I was waiting for her to select a debit card payment on her screen. There is an older African-American lady who is really nice and helpful, but other than her, most employees don’t really care for their job. Plenty of better Duane reades, I only visit this one if it’s inevitable. Also note: a lot of the items’ listed prices are not the same as what will show up when it’s time to pay and no one usually says a thing about it Edit: came back again, employees still on their phones while they’re supposed to be ringing up customers

I’ve frequented this Duane Reade a lot in the last six years. Many times in the morning. Tammy was mostly responsible for that; she was so bright and friendly, you wanted to start your day of chatting with her. And pick up some orange juice and snacks in the mix. They should bring her back. The staff has always been friendly. I’ve developed photos there as well. Gotta figure out the new system now that I most take pictures with my phone, but once I get that down I’ll be back to printing again. The store has always been clean, and organized. People always know where things are. I was a bit skeptical when they renovated, but it turned out fine. Other than that, I’m grateful for the snack runs. And being an English teacher, the stationary runs as well.

Just a regular Duane Reade. Sometimes the lines get out of hand because there aren’t enough cashiers on the floor. Besides that I don’t really have any complaints.

The racial profiling in these Duane Reade stores is getting out of hand. I was a former Duane Reade employee and have seen how much profiling is actually done. This store is by far one of the worst. 2 seconds after I walk in the store, I see the cashier hit a button and then the loud speaker announces«security on the floor please». I tried not to make anything of it until I see the manager shadowing me. Then as soon as I get on the line the Cashier pressed another button then you hear«going green» on the speaker… something along those lines, seriously?! I was furious and informed the cashier I was aware of what she was doing. It’s not the first time I’ve seen these actions from Duane Reade. When I worked with this pharmacy if you were tall and black, the manager would send me to follow you until you felt so uncomfortable you left. This has to stop, not everyone who’s dark skin is trying to steal some ibuprofen.

This is just another basic, around the way Duane Reade. Service, selection and atmosphere are average, but what really caught me by surprise was the young cashier on the phone stating to a colleague that somebody dropped the ball because there was stale merchandise(February expiration date) still on the shelf. Very classy having a conversation like that with a bunch of people on the line…
