Giovanni’s Pizza

I use to love this place. I’ve been eating here since my school days; when this restaurant was across the street down the hill in a bigger space. The slice has gone from really good, to «okay.» But the reason for only 3 stars, is the customer service. Today they made my friend and I have a very awkward experience. We almost felt as if we were being frowned upon for only spending $ 5. We just wanted 2 slices after a long day working. :/​I feel bad because I recommended this place to my friend and she was given attitude by the man behind the counter. We were kind and did not behave in a manner that called for that type of response. I should give 2 stars now that I think about it, but I guess that I don’t want to give up on the place yet. –_–

I placed an order on the phone and it took 1hr and change to get to me. I ordered 2 burger deluxe and x both were completely burnt that the edges were hard .i ordered a BBQ GRILLED CHIKEN and it had the worst after taste ever.

I just received a call from them after placing an online order. My delivery instructions were to bring the food up to my apartment. They said they never bring food to the apartment because they can’t risk a parking ticket. Note to anyone ordering delivery online — watch how much you tip because they won’t be coming up to your door. I appreciate the call from them, but definitely won’t be ordering as frequently. With that said, their pizza and pasta is good and generally delivered in a timely fashion.

The food here is ok. Not the best. But the worst part about it, is that it jacks up your stomach. I have given them 3 chances. Maybe the day I ordered the cheese was not fresh… But 3 times and 5 other friends having the same «internal issue»… Never again. I love pizza, cheese and pasta… But this place destroyed my belly. HUNGRY BUYER BEWARE…

I’ve been eating at Giovanni’s Restaurant for more than a decade. They’re awesome guys and they’re food is good. They’re pizza is great and so are they’re burgers. They also have a shrimp dish that my wife likes.

Bland, almost sterile atmosphere, if the tables were clean. It’s just ok. Moderate to slightly high prices. Food is again just ok. Pizza is mediocre. Sauce has no particular flavor or distinction. Crust is not good, balance is off. Born and raised in NYC, I prefer a crispy, thin crust. This is not that. Italian dishes are not big, moderate to slightly high for what you get. Nothing special about anything on the menu. I will note, they do accept credit cards (rare in many mom/​pop places in the Bronx).

Oh my god. New York pizza is completely overrated and so is this place. Everyone I know claims this to be the best. I understand, I felt the same way about Barrow Pizza in Phoenix. When in actually, it sucks. Doesn’t live up to my childhood memories before they went public and got cheap ingredients. This place either did the same or has been sucking since day 1. Not very tasty unless you add your own condiments.
There is a place on the other side of grand concourse which kills this place.

I order from here for the first time and didn’t learn. I order everything was fine till it came to getting it delivery the man said he called me but I never had any miss called. The second time I order like the first time everything was good until it came to delivery omg the man call said he was out side so I went out side with no jacket no one was out side I called the man started to fight n yell and yes I did as will because my food was paid for and never got my food I can’t stand this place when it comes down to delivery when they fire him I’ll buy again they got 2 stars because it was easy to order and I got my money back

Horrible customer service!!! The old folks who run this place should already retire. They are nothing but rude & grumpy. I called to place an order & when I say I want to order a pie, before I even finish the old man says «Can you be more specific?» So I ignore his sarcastic remark and once he finished taking my order he hung up without giving me the total. I decently called back to ask for the total and when I began to say I had just placed an order the man said «I know who you are.» I then said I wanted the total please so he provided it but then said «Call me once again please» and hung up. I’ve eaten several times there before but their customer service is getting worse & worse. I will definitely not be a returning or ordering from there. The pizza is not worth going back to deal with their horrible customer service.

I had food delivered on the 4^th of July bc we really didn’t have many options. First of all, I set up a delivery time online for 8.30 pm-​they arrived over and hour early and luckily we were JUST getting home. I wasn’t impressed with the food at all. I ordered chicken with pasta in pesto sauce. My chicken was over cooked-​actually I’m being nice-​it was pretty much burnt. My friend ordered the veal and he said his meat was also over cooked. I ordered from here bx they were delivering on a holiday, but next time we’re just going to drive over to Arthur ave and pick up the real deal-​for pretty much the same price!

I teach after-​school across the street and my fifth graders had the opportunity to interview Giovanni’s in learning about their community. I popped in last minute and they were so wonderfully accommodating to the kids. Being new to the neighborhood I didn’t know a lot about the restaurants but this has become a new favorite. We had a party at the school and ordered from Giovanni’s. The kids had big smiles on their faces. Truth be told, I pop in there pretty often after class to grab a giant slice. The kids still want to know what’s in the secret sauce. It’s yummy!!! Here’s a little video the students took of the guys at Giovanni’s as well as a testimonial to the Bronx community.

I love the pizza here! A must stop for us when we travel to the Bronx! NY style pizza at its best :)

worst experience ever. Satisfactory pizza and terrible customer service. unbelievably rude. they all need an attitude adjustment including the delivery man who wanted to continue arguing with me at my door.

Good pizza, good food and friendly staff. The food is always ready pretty fast too. The stuffed shells are delicious, the pizza. …yummy. Their pepperoni slices are the best. I love that they have a delivery service too.

Love their paste dishes. Eggplant Parmesan, Chicken Parmesan, Shrimp Alfredo are the best

One of the worst slices of pizza I ever had all dough no sauce. Just tasteless. The Salad pizza was brown very disappointed.

The food here is great. The garlic knots are so good. The pizza is amazing. And the chicken cutlet sandwich is great! I’d like to try the burger here but i get nervous about trying burgers at new places… But i’m willing!

SALAD PIZZA!!! They stole my heart at Salad Pizza! Salad Pizza is my ALL TIME Favorite Pizza & Extremely Hard to come by. They deliver are close to my home & the Salad Pizza is always AMAZING!!! Delivery tends to take a while which sucks if you ordered mozzarella sticks, but I love the salad pizza. =)

I heard so many good things about this place before I ordered. The reality is that both my Dad and I think it’s really not worth all the hype. It’s open late and that is cool but it does not make a good gourmet pizza. I ordered a marinara pizza, the description said plum tomatoes, basil, garlic. When I received the pizza over an hour later, the driver refused to deliver to my door, what is the fcken point to delivery if not to deliver to the door, right, anyway, the pizza was huge beefsteak flavorless tomatoes and no cheese, yuck. Finally, the pizza was flavorless, sweet in the base and not worth the hype.
Sorry but this is not the best pizza in the Bronx.
