I am so disappointed — we decided to go for Sunday brunch. They advertise opening at 11am on Sunday both online and on their menu. We arrived to a closed door. One of the staff came to the door and said they were closed for another 40 minutes or so. It was 11:10am and. When I said it says you open at 11 online and in their menu, I got a shrug of the shoulder and a «I can’t help that» but you can if its on your menu. I have always been an advocate for this restaurant however I’m so turned off by the attitude and customer service. A simple «I know I’m sorry we are running behind today, I apologize» would have sufficed. Whatever happened to positive customer relations?
I won’t be so quick to return here next time!

Excellent food and service! Authentic cocktails (perfect Mojito for me and my Partner said his Margarita was the best he had outside of the Yucatan). Elegant interior that is reminiscent of the ‘real’ restaurants in the Yucatan whose patrons are all local, not ex-​pats.
Our appetizers and main course (Chorizo burrito, Guac, fajitas, etc) reminded us of our favorite restaurant near our beach home outside Merida. Outstanding!
Many thanks, Eduardo, for making our first visit to Metate memorable and perfect. Keep up the great work and see you soon!

I live in the neighborhood and go here once in a while. The service has always be good but it’s a little pricey for what they offer, although the food is decent. And it’s a small-​ish space so there’s not a lot of room between tables. OK for once in a while.

Average food. The chicken in my enchilada was dry. Even worse were the horrible deserts! The tres leches cake was stale with no flavor, swimming in a murky mess of flavorless milk. Especially horrific was the flan. It was dark, overcooked, looked and tasted like shoe leather. I was appalled that they call themselves a Mexican restaurant. The chef should hang up his chef hat… for good. Stay away!

I’ve been several times since I live around the corner and for the most part Ive been happy with the food. The burritos are consistently good. drinks are really good. I usually order the coconut margarita which is among the best drinks they serve. the mojito is good as well. They can get pretty busy during dinner time especially on the weekends. The staff is overall friendly however some are more friendly than others. I would say the drinks are better than the food but the food is ok. I would recommend this place if looking specifically for mexican food in riverdale.

Updated review from 2 stars to 1 star: That night my husband and I got totally sick. Even my nursing daughter seemed to have an upset stomach. #neveragain
The food is so bland. No spice whatsoever. The tortilla chips are good. But we recently had chicken quesadillas, chile relleno, corn and rice/​beans and all were so boring. This restaurant is just catering to the older population here. Head to the other side of Broadway for more authentic fare.

One of the best places to have a nice meal in the area. I love the ambiance. Very lively, the staff is friendly, and the food is delicious. (especially the chicken fajitas and guacamole)

Bartender Salvador is awesome. Food is delicious. Service is okay, could be better. I will need to make another visit so I will only be able to give it the 4 stars. I would have give them 5 but as I stated the waitress needs an In-​service on customer service.

The only thing Mexican about is is the tough meet. The most expensive margaritas I even encountered. Passable guacamole is the only redeeming thing.
Have eaten here several times, never impresses. However this is about the only Mexican restaurant around Riverdale, and I love Mexican food, and a slow learner.

horrible service. I came in with a groupon gift certificate for $ 30. Mind you, after ordering I show them the gift certificate. The «acting manager» comes over to inform me that the actual manager is not around («he is in Mexico») therefore he cannot honor the groupon gift certificate.
I think this is unacceptable and poor customer service.

It’s a nice place and the food is palatable but don’t get the chips. I don’t think they make them there as it tastes like low grade industrial chips. If they do make them then they need to revamp their recipe

Definitely A-​OK!
Was pleased with everything I had here. The service was quite good as well.
The nachos and other appetizers are pretty good sized, so you if you’re not overly hungry you could definitely make a meal of them. All the dishes are nicely presented and not sloppy. The quesadillas were tasty and filling. The only major issue I had was that the rice was a bit mushy.
Make sure to try a margarita!
