This place is great. Conveniently located by Manhattan College, so I always see a bunch of familiar faces. They food is really good, I always order the chicken fettuccine alfredo and it is amazing! The pizza here is really good too. The service is decent, I always get treated nicely. The ravioli is good as well. Will definitely be returning. Also cool that they give you a discount on frozen yogurt in yo-burger.

Came here on a Wednesday night for dinner. It was a super cute casual spot and it wasn’t busy at all around 6 pm on a Wednesday. I wish they served liquor but I’m sure he byob is great if you actually take advantage of it. I ordered the chicken parm and it came with a side of linguini. The chicken parm was good. Nothing spectacular just a good hearty serving of chicken parm. The serving size was huge for me and I couldn’t finish. The service was super super slow. They did not even refill our water and it took forever to get the bill. Not sure if I’ll come back specifically to go here but if I’m in the area and craving Italian then I probably will.

This is a solid spot for old-school Italian food in a no-frills atmosphere. The thin-crust pizza, pasta dishes and Italian specialties are all mouthwatering. It’s BYOB and there is a wine shop close-by. My husband and I particularly enjoy visiting in the warm weather because we can sit outside. The menu includes white pizza and Sicilian. I’m a fan of the Chicken Francese. The desserts are okay. The service is on the ball and as far as I’m concerned it’s the best Italian food in Riverdale.

I get hungry every time I think of their calamari tomato pasta and chicken parmesan. Their tomato sauce is fresh and delicious. Good homemade style Italian cuisine place! It is a small sized restaurant and they don’t serve any alcohol. I live in Manhattan, but I make a trip quite many times to eat here.

Mario rejuvenate the block when he placed Sals on the corner. Food tastes amazing. Solid choice for pizza, pasta and just about all. Plus, the most Beautiful ladies stop by from Manhattan College so you can also enjoy the great view.

First time(nov 2015), loved it. Reasons: ‘A’ rating sign on the door, clean, friendly and attentive staff, meatball parm and chicken parm entrees with salad were cheesy good. Next time: pizza.

Visited on two separate occasions. First time was during the week for lunch and it was delicious, service was pretty good and fast. Second time was on a Friday for dinner, service was not all that great. Had to get the waitress’ attention for minimal things like more water and another set of utensils. She let out a gentle sigh each time as if we were asking for something out of this world. She also somewhat threw the plate down of mozzarella sticks, surprised they didn’t slide off the plate and onto the table and she stormed off to her next table. The food was delicious, I guess she was just in a bad mood or tired. Either way, I’ll still give it another try for dinner.

I’m from Riverdale and was happy that my husband wanted to venture out from his neighborhood in Queens to come experience the richness of what Riverdale has to offer. We both really enjoyed our spur of the moment dinner. The Penne alla Vodka was one of the best we have had in a long time. We loved the family atmosphere and that it seemed as if it was being run by the entire family, which my husband has never seen before. We also liked that they were able to give us a discount for dessert at Yo-Burger. The Frozen yogurt was good but I still prefer red mango. otherwise the place was great and I know we will definitely be returning!

MANAGEMENTISONTOPOFTHINGS I had a big issue with the wait staff today, basically they ignored me in an empty restaurant, so after fifteen minutes of no service we(my two daughters and I) walked out. I was not happy that I had to do this because my seven year old was really looking forward to ordering chicken fingers, and this is her favorite place for lunch. Well, the manager got wind of this pretty quickly and actually approached me next door at Yo-burger(which I believe is also owned by Salvatore’s) and apologized and advised me that he it would never happen again. He then left(to reprimand the wait staff) and then returned with chicken nuggets for my seven year old. The manager was very polite and acted in a very professional manner(something which is very lacking these days), so kudos to him for taking action and doing the right thing.

Guys. This is the worst pizza. I have no idea how so many«true» New Yorkers have accepted this as GREAT for so long. The crust is cheap, bland, chalky, almost sour tasting. It reminds me of the funky smell a dish rag has after laying in the sink for days. Foul, bro. Fresh pizza manages to come out of their oven looking like it’s been under a hot lamp for hours. How is that possible? I’m a Pizza Princess– I know quality in taste, texture, freshness, and appearance, and will not be argued with. This is the worst thing you could do to your tastebuds; I’d rather lick the street. They get two stars because the staff was kind. Bless their little hearts.

My bf is a very picky customer when comes to food and service. We like the pizza from this place and have always ordered deliveries — they are pretty good. And today we decided to go in and eat. We got shrimp scampi and white pie with meatballs. The pizza is great as usual. But the shrimp scampi is very ordinary — several shrimp scattered around in the butter sauce — nothing special, you can easily make it at home. But on the bright side — the shrimp is very fresh at least. The waitress forgot my bf’s water and never came back to check on us. If only for pizza, I’d rate 4 stars. But based on the whole dine-in experience, we give 3 stars.

Salvatores is a recent discovery right in my own backyard. Never knew about this place, but I have been there twice now in the last 2 weeks and both times the food was delicious. It has outdoor seating, which on a beautiful night is much more preferable than the crowded intimate setting inside, but don’t let the size fool you, the food and service are both very good. I will be back.

Service was good, friendly waitress. The small house salad was very good, packed with cucumbers, red onion, tomatoes and the best vinegar blend salad dressing. The plain slice was not a favorite. The crust was limp, and lacked that special oven flavor or crispness I was hoping to bite into. The ambiance is good, but not enough to draw me back. Sorry

Old school classic Italian restaurant. As a newbie to the area, I must piggyback on co-workers and work peers for local good eats, good libations, and how-to in my new found role. Party of two for sit down lunch was very brief one hour session due to time restraints. My co-worker order one meat ball Parmesan hero sandwich while I ordered the lunch special Penne a la Vodka. Service is attentive and my pasta was very tasting and filling. Staff warmly greet regulars who often patronize them and welcomes new visitors like myself. Price is moderate to spendy as it varies by the platter and the entrée ordered.

Great food and nice service. Super fresh, tasty Italian, lots of options so you’re bound to getting more than one meal like I did. Their complimentary Garlic bread is one of the best, I had to limit myself to 1 before eating the entire basket– definitely took the rest to go. So far I will order Lentil Soup, Italian and Brocolli Rabe again, and if you need extra veggies, grilled veggies are the perfect side. Side note, I was trying to eat a healthier meal, so even if its considered too healthy for some still delicious and super satiating.

This is an old family style Italian restaurant the way I knew many years ago that New York City and New Jersey used to serve. The menu is old school but well done version. It is definitely better than the ones I’ve had where tourists go in midtown. You can order the specials or from their menu. The portions are large. Although I ate all the mollusk in my dish, I took home the left over pasta for future dinner next two days. That’s because I liked the flavor of my spicy Diavolo sauce which replaced the marinara sauce my Salvatore seafood pasta was going to have. The cheese is not imported Parmesan I think; buy the sauce was good. I prefer freshly grated cheese. The thin garlic bread is good.

Salvatore’s is a nice spot with above average pizza and Italian food. There is a friendly local feel here and the pizzeria is in the dining room so it is not a linen table cloth experience but definitely a nice one overall. Nice in the summer for outdoor seating.
