Seems like a nice place to have decent Italian food. Prices are good, service is very friendly and attentive. The wine list is so so. They did not have all the wines listed on the limited list and prices are just a little high based on the selection. Most were $ 38.00/bottle. The carbonara and eggplant rollatini were well prepared and very nicely sized portions. Not too heavy, not too light, just right. Next time I’ll give the pizza a try and a cannoli.

Given that we live 2 blocks away from this place — I figured it would be important for me to review this restaurant. As a disclaimer — I had been here before, when it was called«Generico» but that was 5 years ago. I didnt like the food and never went there again — until tonight. To avoid having this turn into a long, verbose review — I will list my thoughts in point form. Of note, this place has a new owner but the kitchen staff is unchanged from when it was called Generico. 1. The service was enthusiastic and friendly — although this actually happened«let me tell you about the amazing specials we have tonight… oh wait we only serve those during week nights.» 2. The live music is very enjoyable, the singers have great voices — but the music is very loud for a small venue. Too bad for the clash between the puerto rican music and italian menu — why not create a more blended atmosphere? 3. The food is average — not fresh or home made — too bad because the venue would be much more successful if the pasta and sauces were fresh — given the nice ambiance — if the food were better I would return. 4. The wine list is limited — I would not call this a wine bar. We tried the tempranillo and the Pinot Noir — both were sub par. If you want to be a wine bar — buy better wine and charge 10 – 12 $ per glass instead. Overall, I wont be coming here again. I would only recommend this place if you like the music.

I went to Truffa for the first time on a event they had sometime early in January. Service was OK, my friend and I waited a long time and they gave us a free glass of wine for the wait. We wanted to eat but were never seated, they gave us a standing table and when we told the server that we would like to seat to eat she offered no explanation for why when tables became available we could not have one. I called beforehand to make a reservation and they told me that they were not taking any reservations for the event. Tables became available throughout our time there but they gave it to the people the owner knows. The second time was better because the place was almost empty. Pros: Decent wine selection, great pizza, good music on most days. Cons: Needs better administration and service.

I’ve yet to see a wine bar with a better craft beer selection in NYC! La Trappe Quadrupel, Montauk IPA, UFO White, & a delicious Pilsner!

Live spanish musica on sat night is awsome great atmosphere. only 3 stars because. the food just isn’t good it’s ok… also the wine list needs improving if you want to be a ‘wine bar’…drop.the french fries and chicken fongas from the menu and invest in a real italian chef to improve the food and this place will have a line out the door… I hope the food gets better because I really like the place

Service was very attentive. I enjoyed a nice Cabernet. Calamari was pretty good as was the avocado salad. The space is small but inviting. They where having live music later on that evening. I will be returning!
