I walked in and was looked up and down immediately by both customers and employees. It was a Pretty Woman in the Beverly Hills boutique moment. I was dressed in normal Wisconsin fall attire(cardigan, scarf, jeans, etc.). Sorry, I’m not a Brookfield Betty who has all day to plan an outfit. I had money to burn and wanted some expert advice about bra styles. The associate seemed frustrated with me, even though I was one of the only customers there. I wanted to take my time before plunking down $ 80 – 100 on a bra. Alas, I did find one I liked and did receive confirmation that my size was indeed correct, but I just got an unwelcome feeling from the person at the desk/register. I’m not thin, plastic, and stylish, so I guess I should just go back to Target for bras. Oh, and this super expensive bra fitted for me by the consultant? The hooks come undone and straps fall down no matter what I do.

My whole life I have been measured up by store after store as a 34DD. But store after store was unable to rise to the challenge of finding a bra that fit. My adult life has been filled with the search for a bra that will feel good and make me feel beautiful. My search ended yesterday when I made the decision to take a trip to Allure. The store manager was in and helped me. She made me feel immediately at ease and assured me that she would help me find more than a few options that fit. Turns out I am a 34DD but not all bras are made the same and for me, I need a very special cut. AND the bras that fit were the less expensive options and she rejoiced with me in that the options that fit me were the less pricy ones. I was on verge of tears leaving the store because I found a whole new self worth. You can expect to pay $ 60 – 90 per bra, but to leave the store feeling great about my body was worth the price. I will never again waste my precious hard earned money on ill-fitting bras, I’m a new woman.
