Every Saturday this restaurant offers a Prime Rib dinner that is at least as good as you will find at any steak restaurant. But the price here will not hurt your wallet. Senior citizens have long known about the food here. If you want the Prime Rib plan to be in the restaurant early.

I really enjoy dinner out at the Hearth and have been going here for probably 30+ years since I was a kid. It’s one of those places that’s been around forever and I have a lot of great memories of going here with family over the years. The food is reasonable and always serve a good meal.

The Hearth serves good, basic food that is prepared well and tastes great. They serve generously sized portions that are reasonably priced. The wait staff is excellent, very courteous and easily available at all times during the meal to fill a glass with water, get more bread or any other needs diners might have. Don’t think it’s only for the«older» crowd, it’s for everyone.

Pulling into the parking lot, my younger friend was immediately wary of all the«old people cars» packed in the lot. Indeed, there was practically a line of people over 60 traipsing into the place. I saw it as a good sign! We were seated in the main hall with a clear view of the kitchen/prep area, where the lively chef was whipping up dinner and taking orders. The ambiance apart from that was rather dismal; the décor was earth-toned with an occasional sprig of fake flowers. Darkish wood paneling abounded. Every table, however, was full of people who looked like they’d been coming here for decades. I heard a waitress call a few patrons by name. We had expected diner prices and were surprised to see that nothing on the menu was«cheap.» The selection was quality, however: scrod, shrimp, and steak fried, broiled, and baked(no applebee’s frozen-fake fare here)! Luckily, we had early bird specials to pick from, which are a good third of the price of the regular meals. We both ordered shrimp and steak. Not only did we get shrimp and steak, we got a massive load of mashed sweet potatoes, a regular mashed potato, and carrots on the side. I was afraid to think of what we would have gotten without the early bird menu – the portions were huge! Neither of us were impressed with presentation – the shrimp was breaded and fried, the steak was medium well instead of medium rare – but everything tasted good. Good and comforting: home-cookin. We ate until we were stuffed, which was unfortunate because I could hear people around me thoroughly enjoying the bread pudding. Overall we felt The Hearth was an average restaurant. The food was tasty but not top-of-the-line. Portion size largely made up for any lack of mouth-watering-ness. Being there felt like being in an old town center establishment where nothing had changed for years… paint or a little tasteful modern redecoration will bring this place up a bit.
