The iced mocha was actually out of this world. I will be back.

I happened to see this place today and stopped by in the afternoon. I’m so glad I found it because I’d always complained about the lack of high quality local coffee shops in the Coolidge Corner area where I live. The staff are super friendly and the coffee is the best I’ve had in Boston — by far. The only thing it’s missing is comfortable places to sit. Their bench along nicely the outer wall was fine for a short sit but became less comfortable as time went on. I’ll definitely be coming back!

REALLY good coffee. Wish they were few chairs/tables to sit. The area next to the window is not enough or not«coffee cosy» at all. I only go when the weather’s nice because I can find a spot to sip my coffee outside.

I was in need of a good cup of coffee to make it through a long day. A cup of 4A coffee stays fresh even after eight hours! Keep up the great work!

I only drink espresso(and the occasional cappuccino or flat white for an extra special treat), and I have not found any place that is as good as 4A. The owners are delightful, warm, and friendly so disregard the one star reviews — they are totally off the mark. Get a gift certificate for you or others. I come here frequently enough that I just refill my gift account in case I don’t have my wallet. There’s not much in terms of seating — just some window benches and that’s it, so if you’re expecting a place to sit and work, this place isn’t it. Their focus is on the coffee and it really shows.

Another very good place for coffee in Boston. Really interesting coffee, freshly roasted, and not too expensive. One thing to watch out for is seating, which there isn’t much of. However, great place to get a cup of coffee to go and walk around Brookline for a bit

Please don’t review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you’re connected in any way to the owner or employees. My wife and I are an elderly couple who like to start off each morning with a good cup of coffee and a lively chat. Since finding this jewel of a coffee establishment, we now start off each day with a FANTASTIC cup of coffee coupled with our joint dialogue. If there is such a thing as the ‘best of the best’, this coffee establishment rates even higher than that! The owners are brilliant in their knowledge and selection of the coffee that they brew. We even had a visit, last year by the owner of a high end French bistro and café in Paris who commented that he had NEVER tasted better coffee in his life than that which he consumed at 4A. Quite the testimonial. Tasting is believing and we highly, highly recommend this place.

Boston is not a city known for its coffee. I almost gave up on finding good coffee here, but then came 4A coffee, this place is on bar with the best coffee houses around the world, the taste is just phenomenal.

4A is 4-everyone. In the special moments when I want to have a cortado after yoga, bring a coffee-loving friend to a relaxing environment, or sit in a window nook with a book sipping a coffee… 4A always seems to be the place of choice. Offerings: I’ve only ever had coffee/espresso beverages here, although they offer a wide variety of teas from Harney & Sons. The beans have an incredible quality to them, with the fresh in-house roast adding a boost of flavor only possible by the owner’s expertise and true understanding of coffee. Light pastries and other pre-packed chocolates/sweet treats, as well as takeaway cooled beverages in a fridge, are also available for your purchase. My favorite aspect of 4A(aside from the fact that they have the finest espresso I’ve ever tasted in Boston) is that it’s an actual COMMUNITY spot. You come here to sit, to chat, to bring a friend and have a face-to-face conversation… No computers, little action on the phone… It’s a refreshing new coffee spot to add to your list. P. S. A guy came in the other day ordering 30+ pounds of coffee beans to go… Needless to say, it’s that good.

My wife insists on going to this coffee shop because she likes the coffee. But we both agree that it is a very cold and unwelcoming environment. The owners — but specifically the woman — is obnoxious, abrupt and unwelcoming. Any conversation you attempt to engage them in is quickly ended by them. She looks at you like she is doing you a favor by providing you with a cup of coffee that you just paid for. But most importantly, they never say hello, welcome, thank you, or show any appreciation for visiting the coffee house. Honestly, the coffee at Starbucks is of equal quality, price, and they actually have seats to sit and enjoy your cup of coffee.

This is hands down the best coffee in Boston. By far. But I would go here even if the coffee sucks just for the delightful owners, and the warm feel. That’s how nice they are. They love what they do and meticulously craft every drink with purposeful attention. They always remember my drink, and offer great company and conversation. If I could give them six stars I would.

Coffee and owners continue to be a joy. Despite moving across town and buying an espresso machine of our own, we still treat ourselves to 4A and those are happy days

Never have I been so offended buying a coffee. My family lives on the block we spend $$$$$ here bringing 5 – 6 bags of coffee back to NYC at a time. I walked in today for a coffee and didn’t have cash — in making light conversation about the additional charges required to use a cc I said oh haha I work at a credit card company. The manager responded by saying«you rape me» «you rape me every month on fees» I said«I rape you? I don’t think I want this coffee anymore» and he grabbed it away from me and gave it to another customer. This establishment places no value on customers and has is disrespectful to women. I do not recommend that anyone in the Brookline neighborhood go to support this horrible manager /owner.

Got an iced coffee. It was a bit too strong though. No amount of milk helped. Need to go back and try an espresso drink.

What to say? Great coffee from experts. Feel free to indulge your coffee curiosities(what is a macchiato vs. expresso… etc…) by asking the barista/owner(who knows a ton) while drinking a perfectly crafted cup of joe. My family has spent considerable time(1+ year) in coffee meccas like Seattle and New York and we all agree on how fantastic 4A Coffee is.

Coffee is great, people are wonderful, I love this place:):) I usually order café latte. Coffee is kind of more expensive than other coffee shop but I’m satisfied with its quality. (Small café latte: around 4 $ Large café latte: around 5 $)

This place is great! The owners are always working here and they are super sweet. I can tell they take a lot of pride in their coffee shop. Good variety of coffees and drinks, sell high quality chocolates and other small items as well. The lattes are amazing. Btw– they have almond milk! Only complaints: prices are a little high, hours are not convenient. Not bad enough to deduct a star ;)

Perfect little coffee spot in Brookline. I overheard the barista tell a customer she recognized him from their Facebook group. She also seemed to know almost everyone’s orders. Really nice selection of beans as well. Some great painting too… woody Allen and patti smith.

4A Coffee is incredibly spartan, but they can make a solid Cortado. Due to the sheer simplicity, the service is very quick. You can sit on the ledges by the window, but otherwise there is no seating. As far as other merchandise, edibles consist of Rip Van Waffles, and some other counter sweets. They have a fridge for bottled juice/tea/water, and an assorted selection of packaged coffee beans lines the wall. Aesthetically the shop is pleasantly, but minimally, decorated and quite neat and clean. The main attraction is clearly the espresso, and they do it well. Great place to stop in for a well pulled shot.

Very nice coffee, I like how it’s all roasted in house. The staff is very nice and has the feel of a family run establishment with very nice if sparse décor. Only downside about the place is the there are no tables. There’s a bench along the windows for you to sit, but no tables. Other than that, a very welcome addition to Coolidge corner.
