My roommates and I came here for brunch on Sunday and really liked it! I ordered the Heath street which was an avocado toast and a matcha latte. The toast was delicious and very flavorful. The matcha latte was disappointing unfortunately. Did not taste like matcha and had a white, watery milk consistency. Would not order that again. My friends had the coconut muesli and butternut squash salad which they really enjoyed! Overall a cute neighborhood place for brunch! Also must try the kale chips!

RifRif(as my housemates and I have nicknamed the place), is a super cute local coffee shop. Their coffee is tasty(though on the expensive side). Their meals are very good(fresh and flavorful) though the portions are slightly too small. That omega cookie is Lit!

I go here all the time and the food is amazing. I have never had anything on their menu I did not like. The staff is very friendly and I always feel like they go the extra mile to get me things to go in a rush. I would highly recommend for lunch, dinner, or a simple coffee break.

The café is small, with only a communal table, 3 other tables, and a short bar area with stools. It’s a cute little setup with the 70s-style pink couch and little knickknacks decorating the intimate space. I was the first patron of the day when I arrived at 8:30am on Saturday for breakfast, and immediately chose a seat by the windows. Starting at around 9, a stream of couples and mothers with their babies came in, and the café was quickly buzzing with activity. This is definitely a popular neighborhood café for families. For breakfast, I ordered a yogurt bowl and soy matcha latte. The homemade yogurt is liquidy and rather bland; it lacks a tangy flavour. However, I was pleased with the generous fruit toppings, which consisted of fresh pomegranate seeds, banana slices, orange sections, and pineapple slivers. Their matcha latte was much too weak. The Cypress is a popular order, and is perhaps one of their better breakfast dishes. Overall, I was unimpressed with the food; but, I will definitely give it a another try. The staff here are very friendly, and it’s a lovely space to read or catch up with friends.

great place for having mocha but I can’t say so about staff. they behaved like I was unwelcome guest in their house. seriously guys if you want to run business successfully you have to be more friendly.

Super cute café! They’re mocha here is literally my favorite. I came here for the first time yesterday to try their Matcha Latte, but they had ran out. Kinda disappointed, so I got their Mocha instead and it’s really good & chocolatey. More on the sweeter side, which I love. Wish they had more outlets. I believe there’s only one accessible outlet in the seating area.

Fantastic food, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. I’ve come here several times over the last year and the food has been consistently high quality. But the counter staff are also consistently moody and unfriendly, typically treating me like I was burdening them simply by placing an order. I would think a place like this would be a little nicer to their customers to convince them to come back — not sure I will, despite the food.

Super cute local spot within walking distance from our house. All of the sandwiches we have tried are delicious — not super big but great flavors. Wonderful coffee(the iced mocha is a favorite summer treat!). So happy to have them in the neighborhood!

I got the beat sandwhich, don’t know what else was In it. The girl who was taking my order looked like she didn’t want to be there and didn’t know what she was doing. The sandwhich which was pretty small took about a hour to make… And than I saw it all ready on the counter and plate and the workers were just standing there on their phones doing nothing. So I waited another 10 minutes until I finally had to say something. This place sucks. Never again. Don’t recommend it.

Came to this hole-the-wall café in Brookline on a Saturday morning and it’s literally tucked away into this small corner on Cypress St just off of Route 9. There’s not much seating inside, but if you can find some, then it is a nice bright place to come and study or do work. They have some unique and artistic décor inside and their menu is full of all sorts of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner(or if you just want something to drink!). The morning my girlfriend and I came we got: –Yogurt Bowl: homemade, plain yogurt with fresh seasonal fruits and you can add homemade granola for $ 1.50. Very very refreshing and light for an early morning, but it was a bit pricey(~$ 5.50 without the granola). –Matcha Latte: great matcha flavor and texture, but definitely wasn’t as sweet as it could be — had to add some brown sugar cubes to sweeten it a bit, but definitely still a quality drink. Overall, very pleasant atmosphere to come and study with free wifi. I’ll definitely be back to try out some of their other menu options especially since it’s so close to me :)

A friend of mine recommended this café to me a while ago. I finally went in the beginning of summer and then again and again and again… Every visit was wonderful and different: food items tend to change up a bit so I’m always excited to see what’s new on the menu, and everything I’ve tried so far — salads, pastries, teas and espresso — was delicious; the service is always friendly no matter how slow or busy it is although I’ve never seen the café very crowded — I usually come here either in the afternoon to read or work, or in the early evening on my way to gym(for coffee). The place itself deserves a whole new review — the décor is artsy yet homey, the music makes the mood and even though the space is small there’s always enough spots to sit.

Updating … the food remains good. It’s loud, service is inefficient and inconsistent(kid behind counter barked my name out and slapped a sandwich plate down but served soup to another table). Owner Colleen Something-Something came out from behind the curtain and drilled me with a ‘do you need something’ dart. It was more of a challenge(watchoo want?) than any species of welcome. Place is like a movie set, staged up with food. Snide service has evolved to stare-down service.

I moved in around the corner from this place 6 months ago and thought«Great! Coffee shop and café 30 seconds from — I’ll be in there all the time!». However, I’ve tried and tried but it just isn’t working. A number of problems. First, this is Brookline so you expect a certain level of pretentiousness in your local restaurant but this place is on another level. If the food was out of this world they could get away with it but… it just isn’t that good. You will notice many of the reviews talk about the«atmosphere» which is certainly nice but food doesn’t match and it is not cheap either. Next the coffee. I’m very fussy about my coffee and my expectations weren’t high but even so they wee not met. You would expect a café with these pretentious to know how to make good coffee but sadly no. Lots wrong including even simple things like overheating the milk.

What is it about coffee and a good bite to eat that makes us feel at home? What is the secret to café magic? I’m not sure that I can articulate what exactly that«it» quality is, but I know it when I see it and Rifrullo has it. I ordered a chai latte, a tallegio sandwich(with caramelized onions and some kind of hearty greens) and homemade chicken soup. The sandwich bread was crispy outside soft and chewy inside, just the way a good sandwich should be. Everything was reasonably priced and I just love the light, airy rustic atmosphere and vibe of Rifrullo. I look forward to coming back again and again.

Yum yum. Paleo and low carb friendly. Food is healthy and space is bright. I do wish they had some healthier dessert alternatives but hey. It’s pricey but the quality is good. I look forward to popping in there again! Get the kale salad with bacon and you’ll be happy.

What I love about Rifrullo is that the restaurant itself is beautifully charming and inviting in a way that makes you want to order a second cup of coffee. The menu is seasonal and changes daily. The egg sandwich on brioche with avocado is divine.

Rifrullo is right around the corner from my house and looks so cute I had to try it. They definitely get five stars for ambiance/décor, but I wasn’t terribly impressed with their«plain and simple» chicken salad sandwich(for almost $ 10). I guess the name should have been an indicator because the chicken salad itself was quite bland and, well, plain. The bread it was on was good though, and when I go back I will definitely try something a little more adventurous off their menu.

I just had the most amazing lunch here. A talegio sandwich with Caramelized onions and broccoli rabi. The«just bread» is anything but. The bread is perfect crispy outside soft and chewy inside. We bought three loaves Togo for the freezer! The desserts are perfect. No shortage of quality ingredients here. I can’t wait to come back. This is not a salad buffet where you choose your ingredients based on mood. That is what you do at home when you make your own lunch. Here you choose one of the thoughtfully composed locally sourced selections and say thank you for the person who designed such a nice tribute to such quality ingredients. Bravo.

Review by J: I met my friend here a couple weeks ago. I wasn’t super hungry but felt like I should get«food food» since it was dinner time and I hadn’t eaten for awhile. I looked at the menu 3 or 4 times. Nothing stood out to me. I just wanted a salad with goat cheese, pecans, and some sort of fruit but they didn’t have anything like that. Debated between some sort of vegetable lasagna and just a bowl of butternut squash with cinnamon. I got the lasagna; wish I would have gotten the squash. It just wasn’t that tasty and the texture was kind of mushy and overcooked at the same time(yes, that’s possible). I took half of it home with me to have as leftovers the next day but didn’t even bother; I could tell it would be pretty gross heated up. I think I felt like I needed to redeem my dinner so I spontaneously bought both a slice of quinoa chocolate cake and an apple tart. Fortunately, the chocolate cake was really good. It made me not feel so bad about spending so much money at this place. G ate the apple tart for breakfast the next morning and said it was okay; not sure how impressed he was. So, I don’t like the lunch and dinner items here but it is a super cute place. Great atmosphere. And they’re open a lot later than other cafes/small restaurants. I may go again but only for the atmosphere and a hot drink, maybe some sort of pastry.

The food is great! Their bread is delicious. (I accidentally spilled my espresso also, and they unknowingly made me another one and brought it over. Brownie points.)
