Last Sunday was there for dinner server didn’t know what he was doing, forgetting stuff had to ask him to come back to our table multiple visits. prices for eating tiny things is a joke.

food was decent but could have been better & the portions could have been more considering what my boyfriend paid for our dinner last weekend. The server that we had was nowhere to be found had to look for him to get refills of red wine, second time same situation to get the check very inattentive am positive enough to say that there boss will have a talk with him

I wasn’t impressed with the way kitchen staff made my girl & I appetizers before we got our rigatoni which tasted worse too dry & over cooked, it took too long to get menus & drinks service was moving very slow it was a lot better a few years back when Lin was there will give the res another chance but sometime in the future when the mgr speaks to the kitchen thanks.

We had a reservation for 7 pm Xmas Eve. Arrived 15min early so we had drinks at bar— bartender not very friendly– rushed and didn’t offer any cocktail napkins with drinks. Drinks were okay. We were seated promptly but that was the last positive part of our experience. There are several veal dishes on the menu but at 7:30 pm after placing our order the waiter came back to let us know no more veal was available. Our entrees were served 1 hour and 50 min. after we placed our order. No apology re; the delay from the manager or the hostess who we saw sitting and having a glass of wine at a table with some customers as we left. The chicken dish was served without a knife and no waiter came to check on status of entrees after they were served so we had to catch waiter passing by to request one. Also had to go to hostess to request a check when we were ready to leave although our plates had been removed. The restaurant was fairly busy but is small and tables are close together. Nice atmosphere and food was good once we received it but we won’t return. All three members of our party have had upset stomachs tonight after leaving Armando’s.We really wanted to like this restaurant– its in our daughters neighborhood and on a great street — we were very disappointed.

I was traveling for work and visited this restaurant at the recommendation of the hotel porter. The atmosphere/décor is totally late 1980s/early 1990s(hard for me to tell exactly) and the restaurant is fairly loud and crowded(not much space between tables) and it lacks a «warmth»(not physical warmth — more emotional warmth) that I’ve come to expect in nice Italian places. It doesn’t seem like a great place for a date, but it was fine for me & my boss to have dinner. It seemed like there were several business meetings there at the same time as us(around 8pm on a weeknight). We ordered the restaurant week menu, which we were pleasantly surprised to see have more competitive prices. The food was all good: 3 – 4 stars. Nothing that really knocked it out of the park except for their homemade ricotta cheese — totally awesome stuff right there. My meat was a bit overdone, but still good. Service was ok — a bit rushed. Wine list was good. I would return if we wanted fairly good Italian food within walking distance of the Brooklyn Marriott. However, I’m more likely to want to try something new next time I visit.

Cute little place after walking the promenade. Had veal parm, fiancé had chicken parm his sister had some pasta. Was not bad at all. Service was a little slow for not being that busy but was still ok. I would go back again.

Food. The food quality is pretty darn good. As you can read from the other reviews, you’ll get some tasty Italian food when you come here. As with any place, it won’t be perfect every single time but generally, your stomache will be very happy. Atmosphere. Quaint and comfortable. Not too stuffy and not too laid back. Service. I also have to agree with many of the posters here. The service has much to be desired. The employees evidently don’t really care about you. They are just the type that wants to collect their paycheck and leave. Price. It’s wierd but in Brooklyn Heights, there seems to be such extremes. You’ll often find very expensive and then very cheap. This place falls somewhere in between. I live a block away from this place and I have been going to this place for a very long time. It’s one of my mainstays for good, decently priced Italian food.

My friend and I are not big on Thanksgiving so we opted for a movie then dinner. The only restaurant open was Armando’s aside from the diner up the street. To our surprise, they had a menu tailored just for the occasion at $ 50 per person. Not bad for an appetizer, entrée, and dessert… or so we thought. Sadly, we were disappointed with our meals. The sliced bread and olive oil were great. My appetizer, the green apple salad(baby spinach, gorgonzola, and toasted walnuts) had no apples? Weird! The dressing was way too much and I should have asked to hold the cheese. Next round was the appetizer… red snapper al cartoccio(cherry tomatoes, yellow peppers, kalamata olives, red onions, red potatoes). I LOVE red snapper, but this was just ick. It tasted really fishy as if it were jelly. I was not impressed. Final round was dessert… pumpkin pie(toasted hazelnuts, house made whipped cream). Though it was a great way to finish my meal, it was truly a waste of money. The pie wold have been a home run if it were warm and not cold then topped off with cool whipped cream. I knew I should have ordered the tiramisu(lady fingers, espresso, mascarpone). I think the restaurant looks amazing. I loved the ambiance, but I’ll have to return for a regular meal to reevaluate my experience with their cuisine.

Had reservations, told to sit and wait while the place was pretty much empty. Sure I’ll wait while you be rude and then still expect my money.

Soooo good super tasty food. We had the burata that was amazing with a gorgeous presentation. The eggplant starter and side of polenta– perfection. The lasagna with a side salad– so good! We’ll be coming back soon.

I entered this restaurant on a whim with a friend. We were both hungry and didn’t really have the patience to keep walking in search. Outside menu looked decent, albeit on the pricey side but again we were just hungry. Seated promptly as they had plenty of seats available around the 530p hour on a Saturday. Waiter came by quickly to drop off menu. My issues with this place were more so with the service: 1) Waiter had NO sense of the menu. We asked him repeatedly about his opinion/recommendation…just his thoughts about items on the menu and his rude response was either due to his language limitations OR he really doesn’t know the menu. I was torn btwn the dish with lamb ragu vs spahgettt with tiger shrimp. I asked his adviced and he literally just repeated what the menu description said. My friend asked similarly about the Lasanga vs the Salmon… he said«one is pasta and the other is fish».Really? Thanks Captain obvious! My friend wanted to know about a particular red wine listed, same waiter simply said«Try the Pinot noir». He didn’t answer her question. She didn’t ask about the pinot noir. If she wanted Pinot noir, she would have ordered the Pinot Noir! Funny how he wants to give wine advice but not food advice. 2) Same Waiter(in same discussion period) bites my head off by ending with a statement that he can’t give recommendations because his opinions are HIS and he can’t tell us what to get because if we get something and we don’t like it. then we would want to return it and blame him He barked that out at us. I was really surprised. It’s NOT like I told him to pick a meal FOR me. I was pretty narrowed btw 2. just needed more info as to the flavor of the dishes so I can make my own final decision. 3) I tried to flag down Another waiter who seemed to be more in charge… tall guy with mohawk. Just to ask him briefly about the menu because our guy was no help. Mohwak says he can’t because he is «quite busy». And he never even tried to return later or defer help to another person. A man who looked like owner was walking around and honestly I wanted to call out to him but I didn’t want to get our waiter in «trouble». The guest next to us also noted the place just appeared to be in disarray. We ended getting side of Polenta… which was really good actually. That’s why I would give it 2 stars. Polenta saved it from a death of 1 star! I got the spaghetti with Tiger Shrimp and my friend ordered the Lasagna. We both felt meal was nothing to write home about esp given the price as well. That coupled with unpleasant wait service just leaves me to not recommend this place.

Went for dinner sat night and let me tell you, dont waste your time or money. Years ago food was great in there but sadly not anymore. I ordered antipasto misto, horrible taste and poor arrangement, cheapest products possible, tasted bad and old, charging $ 18 for something is worth not even $ 8. Your appetizers are the first impression of your rest. for a costumer. Im so happy that i ordered just the appetizer first, after that, i just wanted the. check and took my business somewherelse. Service, very poor, the waiter had 2 tables but he was busy arguing with the bartender than paying attention to the tables. I told him that the antipaste was bad, he responded: Ok. Wowwww.

Burratta antipasti dish is a waste of money. It Features a few sliced tomatoes and a few chunks of burratta on top with tiny cubes of watermelon. Where’s the creamy stuff inside the burratta??? Cavatelli pasta dish with lamb dish was bland I do not recommend at all The only dish that was very good was the goat cheese ravioli my wife had. Get that and that only !!! Only reason this place gets a 2nd star Desert menu was weak. We skipped it Don’t waste your money and time.

I give 2 stars because the service is great. All the guys were very pleasant. Mother’s Day, only option was a prix fix menu…$ 30; appetizer, main, dessert and coffee. Calamari, burrata, lettuce something. The plates were the size of the bread plate. Burrata was 3 slices of tomato, 5 small cubes of watermelon and tinny pieces of burrata like feta cheese. Main dishes the size of appetizer plates. Chicken Milanese about 100gr… if; steak and eggs about 4⁄5 small pieces of steak. Frittata, not flavour at all, a couple pieces of asparagus and a couple of pieces of «prosciutto». Side salads not well rinsed. Don’t go. Period.

This restaurant was absolutely amazing!!! I had the risotto di fughi and my wife had the spaghetti carbonara. TODIEFOR!!! As a Brooklyn native, I always come back to check out the new restaurants — even though this place as been here since the 1930’s. Please keep in mind, this is the real deal — not the new and improved«fu-fu» authentic Italian so you will pay top dollar. A dinner for two with one drink each will cost about $ 70 minimum.

My husband and I came here for Thanksgiving, as we perhaps foolishly made no other plans and this was the only place on Montague St that was open! That being said, I was pleasantly surprised by both the food and service. The restaurant has a great airy space with plenty of room between the tables. Our server was very good and always checking up on us & and we had no complaints. We paid $ 45.00 each for the thanksgiving 3 course ‘Italian’ based meal which was quite inexpensive compared to many other local places. My favorite part was the delicious vegetarian Mushroom spaghetti dish entrée. I was actually too full to even attempt a stab at the Pumpkin pie dessert. The Pinot Noir wine added to our bill, but it was quite good and we have no regrets.

I love this place. I’ve had dinner and I’ve also experienced their happy hour. Why I love it: 1) it «feels» good inside. 2) the caesar salad with anchovie dressing. The flavor is serious and savory enough to taste like a well-seasoned entrée. Yes, anchovies on top. 3) they have a selection of bruschetta. The vinegar + peppers choice is my fave. 4) Happy hour specials are somewhere around $ 5 for wine, chianti included and maybe $ 6 or $ 7 for cocktails 5) the montague gimlet is nothing short of bomb status! 6) The bar has a really wide marble top so sitting there for happy hour feels like you’re seated at a high table for one, with your very own server. 7) the energy in the place is perfect for having conversations with friends or with strangers at the bar, who will become your friends because we all there enjoying the magic together.

Decided to stop in for brunch here and the food was absolutely amazing. The food was flavorful, drinks were perfection, and the desserts are to die for. The staff was friendly and very pleasant and made the meal much more enjoyable. I’ll definitely be returning
