The food and service is great! A quiet little restaurant that you may walk past but don’t. I got the crab ravioli and split it with my sister… the waiter was really nice and actually split it for us. It was so good that we ended up ordering another plate! Service was also great; we had multiple waiters come in and check on us to make sure we were good. We also received a free glass of wine which was great. I would definitely recommend coming here and will be visiting again!

A spontaneous dinner gone well! We were happy to dine in the charming hideaway dining room. It was virtually empty so we felt like we had the restaurant to ourselves, except of course for the few loud sports commentators at the interesting front bar. The sight of the small but empty-ish bar could be a tiny turnoff for couples or solo diners, but once you pass it and enter the ski resort-like, relaxing haven, you’ll be able to enjoy the quiet and comfortable vibe at Café Buon Gusto, while savoring their authentic pasta. I had the popular crab ravioli with shrimp in a cognac cream sauce and a glass of tasty full bodied red wine. I wanted to fall asleep right there. Talk about pleasantly full.

Great drinks! Manager/owner was very friendly and kind. Will return for drinks. Try daiquiri or mudslide. Amazing!

Its not outstanding but its really good. If you are in Brooklyn Heights and looking for a cute place to eat outside, I would definitely check out this place. Couple friends and I decided take advantage of a good weather and sit outside for dinner. The place was not crowded and the service was good. Huge portioned meals and everything was good but I would not describe them to be exceptional. Still a very good neighborhood spot.

Best restaurant in Brooklyn Heights. Amidst tremendous hype and intense competition sits Caffe Buon Gusto, an understated gem of Italian gastronomy. We’ve tried every upscale place in the Heights and none of them approaches the food, service, and value here on Montague Street. The extensive and comprehensive menu never disappoints. Whether you begin with the pear-gorgonzola salad or grilled bacon-wrapped jumbo shrimp, the appetizers are meticulously prepared and expertly seasoned. The pastas are all house-made. Try the fresh pappardelle with fennel sausage or the king crab & linguini in spicy marinara. These savory wonders arrive steaming hot. Order from the extensive wine list before selecting an entrée. My favorite is the skillfully braised, crisp-skinned branzino filé with a splash of peppery extra virgin olive oil. My wife loves the lamb chops. There’s so much more to explore including the warm chocolate tart to-die-for. Caffe Buon Gusto is a beautiful, family-run restaurant. The wait staff are courteous and professional. Come hungry and leave gratified by the food.

This place is overpriced and weird. I stopped in for a quick beer while shopping on Montague and the bartender took forever to serve me because she was talking to one of the regulars the whole time(there were like two other people in the place). I got weird vibes from them the whole time like I was encroaching on their territory. The beer I had was $ 7 and change which is ridiculous for such a crappy place. Don’t waste your time or money here.

This place is super cute, on a great street in Brooklyn Heights. The bread is great(pizza bread is yummy), the service is good, and the prix fixe lunch menu is delightful(~$ 22 for appetizer, entrée, dessert). The tomato soup is delicious, as is the crab ravioli with shrimp & spinach in cognac cream sauce. My go-to order there, and it’s wonderful. Great ambiance, good amount of space, peaceful(at least at lunch), good wine selection, good food.

This restaurant is like a hidden gem that you’re not sure you want other people to find. In the warmer months, sit outside and enjoy the people watching with your wine. When it’s cold out(like now), go indoors and enjoy a rich, delicious pasta(my favorite is the homemade veal tortellini with vodka sauce) and a great glass of wine. If you’re looking for simple, delicious Italian, this is your place. Come alone or with friends!

I love Caffe Buon Gusto’s food and order it fairly often. However, they get at least one out of every three orders wrong, either sending the wrong thing or forgetting items entirely. We have called many times to get a refund, exchange an item, or try to recover something they forgot to give us, and are rarely successful. All in all, it’s good food, but don’t get too attached to your order.

Cute little place to eat after walking the promenade. Had the veal pizzaiola, fiancé gad chicken parm, and his sister fresh gnocchi. Was a nice meal after cold day. Nice glass of wine and service was very good.

I had the linguini with fresh white clam sauce. The six healthy sized clams were extremely fresh. Sauce was balanced and tasty. There could have been a little more pasta.

I’ve eaten here a handful of times. I’ve only tried the Crabmeat Ravioli and the Lobster Carbonara or whatever it’s called… both are really delicious and worth the money. My only gripe with this restaurant is today I went there for lunch and ordered a coke. The waiter got my coke from the bartending dispenser at the bar. When I finished the first glass he asked me if I wanted another one and I said«Sure!». At the end of my meal I asked for the check, and saw that I was charged for TWO cokes… and it was $ 3 each! I’ve never gone anywhere with a soft drink dispenser and been charged for refills. Highly annoyed.

Molto bene! The ambiance was great, and there were many Italians which was a good sign. The manager walks around welcoming people and making sure things are ok. Food was DELISH! Surpassed my expectations, and like others say, their Tiramisu is divine. The ONLY reason I give it 4 stars is because our waitress could’ve been a little nicer and more attentive. We went mid-afternoon so its not like it was a super busy time. If they fix that, definitely a 5 star!

I’ve only ever had breakfast here, but it’s one of the things I miss most about living in Brooklyn. Looking forward to a Sunday morning breakfast here was always a highlight. The Eggs Benedict was never a disappointment and paired with a mimosa only made it all the more great. I definitely suggest coming here for breakfast!

Came here on a work lunch with an old supervisor. She is a regular and I’m not so I took her advice on food. She ordered from the lunch pre fixe menu which was reasonably priced and offered plenty of food and good sounding options. I had the lobster linguini which was absolutely amazing. The staff was very friendly and accommodating but I do have to dock them some points for making us ask when someone was finally going to take our orders(we were running on a tight schedule so the delay was especially noticed). Other than that one hiccup, a very solid and pleasant lunch spot. Would recommend.

Treated myself to a nice lunch for one on a rainy day, and went to my old faithful, Caffe Buon Gusto. It remains as lovely as ever — clean, with polite staff, and great food. My crab ravioli with shrimp and spinach, plus a side of broccoli rabe was delightful. The cream sauce on the ravioli is the stuff love songs are made of. So glad that this restaurant is one of the few places that consistently serves great food in a charming establishment. I’m not in Brooklyn as often as I would like nowadays, but I’m so happy that Buon Gusto always makes me feel right at home.

I’ll admit, I know absolutely nothing about Italian food. I tried to look up the plates I had but for whatever reason the site menu wasn’t the exact same as in the restaurant so I apologize in advance e-e I went to this place to celebrate the completion of my internship with a few of my supervisors. I found it to be nice little place. We were led to our seats and were talking for a bit while trying to look at the menu. One of the things I noticed was that we had to call for the bread basked to be brought to us after a whiiile, which rarely happens(usually servers will quickly pull the sucker out). I don’t know if they were waiting for us to decide on our orders, but it kind of made me feel weird to sit there for maybe 10 – 15 minutes for bread. Anyways, I personally ended up getting their lunch Prix Fixe which came with appetizer+entrée+dessert. — Appetizer was jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon; it was good, but I will say the shrimp seemed a bit overcooked. People might be bothered by the fact that it’s only three shrimp and then the little greens and tomato in between. I didn’t mind that much(maybe an extra shrimp?), but at the same time I did eat half of the bread basket on my own. so. — Entrée: this is where my memory fails me. It was some sort of lasagna-ish dish with a lottt of cheese(see picture). It was pretty good, and when the entrees came out the hostess came by asking if we wanted fresh cheese or pepper on our stuff which was nice. I personally could not eat all of it because all the cheese and pasta filled me up fast. –Dessert was Tiramisu. I took this to go since we had to get back to the office, but it was good. Not the best, but decent :) I’m not around that area of Brooklyn anymore, but overall if I had the chance to go back I would, mostly for the lunch prix fixe! I’m not too hot on Italian to really commit to paying the usual $$$ for a full meal.

Excellent meal and great service. It’s a small, intimate spot that makes it’s own pasta. Very yummy!

This has got to be one of my favorite cafés in Brooklyn. Love the atmosphere, the food, coffee, and dessert. They serve delicious sorbet inside of their«shells». Orange sorbet in an orange, coconut sorbet in a coconut, lemon sorbet in a lemon.

Following an unparalleled feature poetry performance of fifteen minutes, my two guests of friends who were SINCERELY able, ready and willing to attend ventured here to Caffe Buon Gusto for additional merriment. Amid we did not ordered food but I am sure to return for a complete substantial meal. Full service bar awaits to served. The three of us enjoyed a better service and good environment which dispels our previous venue’s degrading experience at a dingy diner.
