Grits tasted like it was from a box. I could’ve made a egg white and mozzarella ommelette at home better. The cashier was so stupid he didn’t know how to ring us up. No table service, order at the counter:. Never coming back here again.

«It’s just no good anymore.» A sign on the doorway proclaims, «under new management,» and, in this case, the change was not for the better. The food that came out of the kitchen looked worse than what college students on a budget could make on a hot plate in their dorm rooms. The breakfast sandwich(apparently formerly a tasty standby) was made with microwaved eggs and thick slabs of(unmelted) neon orange processed cheese. Service was horrible – we all but had to seat ourselves, get our own menus, retrieve our food from the kitchen, and write our own bill.

I would give this place negative 5 stars if I had the option. After reading rave reviews I was so excited to go here. My husband and I walked up and noticed the man out front smoking, not a big deal… everyone in NYC smokes it seems. But when that man is your waiter and when the waiter doesn’t wash his hands after smoking and handles my flatware that’s pretty much my cue to leave. I didn’t even get to try the French toast or eggs. Wash your hands man, it’s not too much to ask.

Nice and cozy mom-n-pop shop. Food selection are limited. Foods are nice with very reasonable pricing. I had a positive experience. I will go back again to try other dishes.

My boyfriend and I happened to be in the Bay Ridge neighborhood a few days ago, when we were searching for a place for breakfast. We were waiting for his car to get an oil change at the auto shop with Honda and it was going to take two hours. After walking around, we found Bay Ridge Eatery. Boyfriend did research the night before, and we agreed to try it out. There’s definitely a sense of history and a story at Bay Ridge Eatery, because there’s a lot of classical and vintage-like pictures hanging on the wall and it has a very Brooklyn and New York feel to it. At first, I thought it was a small deli of some sort, but it’s just a small sit-down restaurant, that’s comfortable and it feels homely. My boyfriend ordered the two eggs with bacon, home fries and a croissant with butter on top. His food looked amazing and for a very inexpensive price too, $ 4.75 for this full breakfast plate and he also ordered a hot chocolate and an orange juice. Whenever I eat Western breakfast, I’m always craving for an omelet and instead of ordering a usual mushroom omelet, I decided to order the Italian Omelet which consisted of: mozzarella, sausage, pepper, and onion and topped with tomato sauce. It also came with home fries and whole wheat toast. In addition, my breakfast was also served with apple juice. The omelet was amazing, just really top-notch and tasty. It really filled me up! The home fries have a unique taste to it. I never had home fries that tasted as unique as this. The chef must’ve added some secret spice or sauce to it, otherwise how can it be so yummy? The whole wheat toast was toasted like perfection. This was almost like a deluxe breakfast, because it surely filled me up. I was so full and satisfied that I even skipped lunch with my boyfriend. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our meal and time at Bay Ridge Eatery. I only wished we could’ve met the owner, and I hope the staff will stumble upon this review. My boyfriend and I are definitely going to return here. We’re not in Bay Ridge a lot even though we both live in Brooklyn, but this is definitely a place worth coming back to. If you ever find yourself hungry, looking for breakfast and something simple — check out Bay Ridge Eatery because you won’t be unsatisfied Note to self, I want to try these: mixed vegetables & cheese omelet, eggs Benedict, Bay Ridge burger, BBQ Burger, and Sloppy Fries.

Again, my fellow Unilocalers have not failed me! Was driving to Fort Hamilton base with my husband when we realized we still had time to catch breakfast. Thankfully, Unilocal led us here. Service was warm and friendly and the atmosphere was very cozy. I had the Egg White Spinach Omelette, my husband had two eggs over easy with corned beef hash. Both orders came with homefries, toast, coffee(or tea) and juice. We also wanted to try the Challah bread french toast, so we did… even though we had more than enough food. Everything was excellent! From the way the egg white omelette turned a nice crispy brown at the edges, to the warmth of the french toast. The corned beef was crispy on the outside and just the right texture on the inside, the way corned beef hash should be!!! The waiter was always refilling coffees, and kept making sure we were comfortable. Definitely a huge fan of this place and want to try more of the menu!

This place is a great comfortable little place. breakfast and lunch hereis always on point. The service is great. John is great and Kirk is also. If you going for breakfast, try the huevos ranchero. Don’t think it on there menu which is full of custom creations by Chef Kirk, but they make em. Coffee is good and they keep the cup full. Pricing here is great for someone on a budget also. Different lunch specials daily and IMO they are always good. Fast and clean, good food and good service. What else could you ask for in a luncheonette.

I am holding out on the 5th star until I try the non-breakfast foods. My husband and I went for a late Saturday breakfast… about noon. The place is kind of small so there could be a wait earlier on a weekend. The waitress was extremely friendly. I kind of felt like I was a «regular». There were newspapers to read. The décor is nothing fancy, but the food was very good. GETTHEBACON… so crispy and not fatty. I always order my bacon well done to make sure there is no fat, but here they make it that way! I had banana pancakes and eggs and my husband got the french toast and eggs. We were stuffed and the bill was not high at all. We will definitely return!

This was a great experience. My girlfriend and I moved to Bayridge in May of 2010. Since then we have been searching for a good lazy weekend breakfast place. None have yet met our expectations until the Bay Ridge Eatery… Let’s start with the service and the food… Prior to tasting the food, the waitress was so attentive that I said to my gf «repeat customer?» You’ll see why: She made us feel as if we have been coming here for years. My girlfriend ordered pancakes with bacon. The waitress asked her if she would like some warm bananas thrown in there… my girlfriend’s eyes opened sooo wide at the sound of that suggestion… and totally went for it. My frenchtoast were perfection… we’ve never been to a place that asks us if I want my frenchtoast thin or thick… having the option reassured me that we had found the right place! let’t not forget the sausage… mmmMMMmmm On to the overall look of the place… It looks like it has been there for many years, and it may be due for remodelling. I think doing so would bring in a lot more business. It is small so I am afraid that there may be a wait if we come in on an early saturday morning –we went in at around 1pm– but it would be totally worth it. The reason for the missing 5th star… The fact that they only take cash, and they are closed on Sundays. Can’t wait for our next visit here…

I asked the waiter(who I guess is the owner) what the best sandwich they serve is. He said the brisket. It’s served on a roll with a little bit of gravy. It sounded good to me, so I got it. Ends up he was right. Not the best brisket I’ve ever had, but it was moist and flavorful. The roll didn’t get soggy with gravy, but it was wet. Yum. I washed it down with a vanilla egg cream, which was also good and made as I expected. No credit card payment, which was annoying, but it was still fine. I’d go back, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to find it.

BESTDINERINBAYRIDGE! Sorry for the caps but after all the terrible and expensive diners this gem comes along. Owner and servers are great for this little Breakfast-Lunch place. They’ve got all the regular diner food as well as some creative dishes you shouldn’t be shy about. Kirk, the owner, is a real chef. Only complaint? It’s not open on weekends! Or after 5:30 — 6:00pm! Otherwise you should try it out.

Ok, so where do I start? When I first moved to Dyker Heights, this place became a highlight of many A-Saturday-Mornings. In the summer, salads and home fries, iced coffees and drum and bass, reggae and techno and some awesome conversations with the owner Kirk and his staff. Shout out to my girl Val! And in winter times, it’s all about comfort food and riding out the cold together. The best time to go is around Halloween, they don’t mess around with their holidays. Anywhere I can get into conversations about music, politics, 24, lost and rescue me and philosophy while I chow down on some deelish home cookin’ is a place for me. I’m a vegetarian so ask for Veggie specials and expect a feast. I’m going back tomorrow morning and I moved to another state.

Ok so this place is excellent for home-cooked meals. My favorite is over course sloppy fries(steak fries with sauteed onions your fav cheese and gravy) veggie wraps boneless buffalo wings and a shake. That’s when I’m rocked off to heaven! But seriously the food is excellent the wait staff is on top of your order with out breathing down your neck. The Cook/Owner rock’s hes a super nice guy that talks to everyone like their his best friend, mostly because after you meet him you kinda are. The menu is full of options for what ever your in the mood for. And the music that’s playing not your typical diner back ground music. They play anything from reggae to 80’s hits to rock even one time I walked in and they were playing house music in the afternoon. Definitely a gem of bay ridge and definitely one of my favorite spots to go on a Saturday morning to get ready for a sick ass weekend!

I have to give this place 4 stars because even though all I had from here was a turkey club and fries(which was really good), but I really like the vibe from this place. I am definitely stopping back through here again and trying something else to more than justify the 4 stars. Just a really local feeling place.

After a long Friday night, a walk down 5th avenue before anything else in the neighborhood was open brought me to this oasis. I’m a sucker for any place with a luncheonette counter, but the shocking part was walking in and hearing Dub music. I looked over a bigger menu than I could handle and went with the veggie omelet, home fries and wheat toast. 3 cups of coffee and The Daily News later, I couldn’t have been happier. Looking forward to going back and trying something a little more exciting. I can’t imagine spending more than $ 10 if I tried.

3.25 Stars A respectable Diner/Greasy Spoon on a budget. Offes tasty breakfast and lunch alternatives. they serve a late lunch/dinner which I have not tried. A basic menu with a smattering of ethic fusion(Mexican/Greek/Asian). I do recommend the classic though(hotdogs, wraps, breakfast etc). By no mean is this a place to go out of your way for but when in the nabe and you need a quick bite — not a bad choice.
