Food is good but the staff is very unprofessional at all times. Management need to discuss with staff members to always be and courtesy and to establish a friendly customer service relationship with customers at all times.

The food is very hot and fresh when you get it and pretty good to me. However my friend felt like it wasn’t anything to write home about. The only compliant I have is costumer service could be better, the young lady that took my order seemed to have an attitude. And the fact they are a reputable business yet don’t take credit cards.

Decided to finally give it a try today. Traveled from Queens and would like to say it was definitely worth it! The food is delicious!!! I ordered the fish, shrimp & chips. It was about a 15 min wait max. Which isnt too bad being that it is Friday night. Did I mention that the food is GREAT! I am eating while writing this review. This is definitely a take out spot. The sitting/waiting area is small & not exactly clean

The good– The steamed salmon was very well seasoned and unexpectedly came with loads of garlic and pepper and onion slices. Nice. The serving of sides(collards and mac & cheese) were both adequate and fair. They don’t skimp on serving size here. The bad– Me and the friend I came with, two white dudes in an otherwise all black restaurant, obviously came in together and ordered separately but one right after another. Well, he got his food almost immediately and went outside to wait for me. Me, my food took OVERTHIRTYMINUTES to come out! I appreciate that it very well might take 30 mins to come out with an order of steamed salmon, mac and cheese and collards, that’s fair. I just wish the woman who took our order had said something about the difference in wait times. I could have easily picked out something else off the steam table. My friend stood outside waiting while his food went ice cold. That sucked for me and was even worse for him. The ugly– That was one of the saltiest plates of food EVER! I mean it tasted good but I can really feel all that sodium right now. It would have been nice to have it come with a piece of cornbread to make it a little easier going down. Also, the place seemed clean and the cooks definitely competent, but I have to say the main chef guy(operating in the middle) kept wiping his nose on his hand over and over. He was wearing gloves, yes, but it looked like he was wiping his nose on the gloves. :/ Will I be back? Yeah probably. This neighborhood has very little going on for it food wise and this is one of the better spots I have tried. For $ 10.89 I am nicely stuffed. Will have to drink a gallon of water tonight but at least my belly is full. Be prepared for a long wait…

I literally eat this everyday for lunch cause it’s the closest restaurant to my job that serves decent food. I usually buy from the lunch menu and always satisfied. My only complaint for this place is the time waiting for food. Even if you call in advance you have to still waiting in the same long line with everyone else to pay for your food and boy that line is long. Also, a lot of salt is on the collard greens. Food is always on point tho. And if your into restaurant grades like me, then you definitely want to keep your eye on they grade cause it changes a lot. As of now they have an A. They do not accept credit cards, CASH only.

Seriously why is this place still in business??? The food may be great but the service is the worst. Cashiers are confused and clearly unorganized. They have what appears to be a modern point of sale system but they don’t take debit or credit cards. Then to top it off they don’t always have sufficient change for cash customers. The kitchen staff looks miserable… I would be too in that hot and cramped space. The customers are always frustrated when they come in to order and the wait times are ridiculous. Why people continue to patronage this place is beyond me… the food can’t be that good… Is it? The owner needs to seriously reassess his business model. I think the place has great potential and is probably already successful, but they can do much better.

came on a Friday night and ordered a shrimp dinner with Mac and mashed potatos. Wasn’t busy at all. placed my order with the nice young girl at the counter and hard to keep my eyes off her. food came in like 4 minutes which I’m thinking that’s too quick, shrimp takes about 7 minutes to cook, so either I’m getting precooked, or raw. when I got it home, the shrimp were warm, not hot. I could tell the were cooked maybe within the hour, they were starting to get that rubber feel. the batter they use could stand the test of time. held together, stayed crispy, but no flavor. I pulled one apart and didn’t see a spec of pepper or any kind of seasoning. the Mac and Cheese was the bomb, as well as the Mashed. kinda on the high side, but the plate filled me up. going to go back to try something else, their BBQ chicken looked pretty amazing.

Food was decent and affordable. The staff could be a little more courteous but I guess you can’t have it all.

Can here on a Monday night and I was not too impressed. The establishment doesn’t have a liquor license so that is unfortunate. The service was decent and slow and the food was bland and left a lot to be desired. I had catfish and while it was nice and juicy on the inside, the outside was in serious need of seasoning. The collard greens were ok, but I didn’t realize they had pork in them before I ordered so of the taste I had before I spit them out was ok. The bright spot in this meal was the mac and cheese. It was cooked to almost perfection. My guest had the rasta pasta and was not impressed either, while he ate it all he said it also lacked seasoning and was spicy.

GREATFOOD!!! It takes awhile for you to get your order. Which i dont mind cuz i know its gonna be hot when i get it. The only bad thing about it is they only accepted cash. I dont know if it always like this but i had to leave and go to an atm. If ur looking for some good grandma cooking, this is definitely the spot It’s getting 4 stars only because i had to wait for a hot minute for my food.

My friend recommended this place to me so I went with my date. It was pretty small, quaint & very good vibes. I went the Friday of Labor Day weekend and I was so glad to see the chefs in the back openly cooking and in high spirits. The Mac & cheese wasn’t as good as my friends’ made it seem but the oxtail peas & rice was sooo good! Also(?34 fish cakes ! Oh my, their fish cakes!!! Were so good.

This is not a place you can sit and eat with groups because it’s so small. When customers come into order they are on top of you as you sit and wait for your food. If you dine in you aren’t given a plate they give you the takeout container. Which isn’t bad looking. My order didn’t take long to come up. I did ask for half and half and they didn’t have any available. The pink lemonade taste great but I did want to try the half and half. There’s an ATM inside if you choose to use it. They don’t accept debit cards at all. I didn’t observe a restroom so I’d suggest taking your food to go in the future. My food came out in 15 minutes. The salmon was grilled to perfection and my mac & cheese tasted amazing. The fries were seasoned well. I wish I had collard greens instead of fries. I always order something I shouldn’t be having. I will return and try something else. Great food and good service is all I ask for. And they gave me both. Kudos to the staff.

TERRIBLE service. I ordered fried lobster tails that they fried until it was a hard, rubbery mess and I ordered Mac and there was a half pan when I placed an order. I waited 39 minutes for my order to be prepared only to be told that while I sat and waited they dished out all of the available Mac and that I could either get a refund or wait 25 minutes. Now I don’t know why the customer service is so bad. The workers seem to not care one wAy or another how your experience is and what’s worse is that the food is no longer worth putting up with the incompetent and negligent service. I’ve placed two orders through seamless… The first arrived 2 hrs late and cold. The second never arrived and after patiently waiting for 2.5 hours I called and was told they don’t deliver to my address despite being listed in Seamless and that they were closed and that I should call Seamless for a refund(which I did and also scored a coupon for my terrible experience). I thought if I went in person and to a different location I’d have a better chance but this place seems determined to. Give bad customer service.

I heard so much about this spot that I seriously wanted to like it. It’s a local fav here in Bed Stuy. I wanted to like this place… seriously. My girlfriend and I ordered fish, collard greens, and yam dinner. Typical Friday dinner in any African American household. The Whitening fish fillets were seasoned lightly rather bland and not crispy. We order pick up and the fish was not hot when we arrived. The collard greens were steaming, seasoned with smoke turkey, aromatic, well cooked, and they were mouth watering good. The yams were like grandma’s, sprinkled with brown sugar, and tender… they were sweet and the portions were huge. I give it three stars because the veggies saved the day. The young lady who took our order over the phone was not warm and or fuzzy, she sounded extremely rushed. We had to repeat the order several times. I wanted to like this place… seriously. Maybe next time.

If you don’t mind poor customer service, extra grease with every order and waiting 45+ minutes for your food you might rate bedstuy fish fry 5 stars! Ps. If you call ahead you’ll only wait 20 minutes

Yum! I don’t know why Rus and I waited so long to visit BedStuy Fish Fry. We recently headed there on a snowy weekend afternoon. The interior is pretty small, but it’s adorned with a few tables and chairs. We happened to walk in when they weren’t too crowded, but a line quickly formed behind us. We ordered fried whiting, chicken and shrimp. Also got sides of the macaroni and cheese and collard greens. We waited for at least 45 minutes for our order. While we waited, we saw one gentleman who ordered enough to feed a banquet of people(so I guess they do catering orders). Numbers are usually called out of order, so don’t be alarmed if you seem to have been skipped. Heads up: this location is cash only. Once we got our food, we hustled back out into the cold and made our way home to feast on our fish fry. The seafood was really good! I loved the crispiness of the shrimp, and the fish was meaty and delicious. Nothing was too salty. I ate the last of the collard greens(so good), and the macaroni and cheese was pretty good too(but a little bit on the mushier side). The fried chicken was ok(on a scale of 1 to 5, I’d give it a 2.5). It was rather chewy and I think I’ve had better at the local Chinese food joint, that said, I’m the one that ordered chicken from a Fish Fry place. They didn’t have oxtails while we were there, or Rasta Pasta, but we’ll definitely be going back to get our Fish Fry fix. Be patient, trust me, it’s worth it!
