What a cool little place! Lots of neat performances. This is the kind of place you could go to on any random night and see something cool. Never a dull moment. Loses a point for being crowded, though. If you need a seat, plan on getting there early. Like, real early.

This was a fun spot right by our Airbnb. They were out of a lot of food, but it was Memorial Day Weekend so that may play a part. I’d definitely come back as this spot has its own unique vibe. The bartender was super lovely, too!

I want to start off by saying I came across Bizarre almost a year ago and fell in love with the place. Great ambience, shows, drinks, and food. Since then, I’ve recommended this place to a lot of ppl I know and brought them over for the weekly shows and events. Never let me down once. Until last night. I came in with three people, noticed on the menu it said $ 3 well shots, and inquired about this to the girl working behind the bar(named Jacqueline). She gave us our choices… whiskey, tequila, vodka… etc etc. This was the first time I ordered shots from here and $ 3 was a fantastic deal, so we ended up buying three rounds of these shots. When it was time to pay, our totals each came out to be over $ 50 and we noticed they charged us $ 10PER shot. When I asked the girl why she charged us this much she said it was due to the type of whiskey/vodka we chose even though I pointed to the $ 3 well shots PRIOR to ordering the drinks, which to anyone would indicate«hey, I’m interested in ordering shots because of this price I see right here.» If you’re going to charge us a premium it would be nice to specify which ones are $ 3 vs ones that come at a higher price. Also when I asked for a price adjustment she pretty much said sorry, you already drank it. Well no shit we already drank it because we thought the shots were $ 3 each. Hard to say if it’s Jacqueline doing a poor job or the overall establishment, but this experience lowered my impression of the place and I won’t be returning again. With $ 10/shot I could’ve easily bought my own bottle for $ 20+ or a specialty cocktail for $ 11 – 13. Everyone agreed that $ 10/shot is absolutely ridiculous, but looks like the cost goes both ways because Bizarre just lost four repeat customers.

This is a place that is easy to miss because of the location but it’s worth your time, it’s spacious inside and has an interesting ambiance, we came here for brunch and they do offer a bottomless brunch, brunch is from 11 – 4 on weekends and I was shocked when we walked in on a Sunday’s at 1pm and it was relatively empty, the food itself was great! I had Black Forest ham egg Benedict that came with some home fries and salad, it was very tasty and we all had a great experience, the bill came out and it was less than $ 20 pp with tip for a group of 6 so I think that’s awesome

Our bartender Bibb was the shit. Awesome conversation, great drinks and the best way to spend a Saturday afternoon. The fries were dope. Bibb was hands down the best bartender around.

bi·zarre bzär/ adjective very strange or unusual, especially so as to cause interest or amusement. «her bizarre dresses and outrageous hairdos» I hate to be the Bad Guy, which is why I only write reviews for the sh! t I like! But this place has changed my mind… well actually no. Bizarre is great. It took a few trips for me to fully love it but, now I am fully converted. I must say that my opinion on the establishment is partially based on the existing area. With punk flea markets, café’s, thrift stores, Norbert’s Pizza… by association this place would work. It’s large, comfy, non pretentious bar with beautiful light from all the windows, private little nooks that allow you to chill on victorian red velvet couches, a stage for cabaret and shows, a lower level for gallery events to fill your art needs. The brunch is great, the staff is on point and the endless one hour mimosas for brunch make this a go to!

This place is so off-putting it’s truly worthy of the name — bizarre. Even more bizarre are the rude bartenders who think they’re too cool to do anything.(honey there’s a reason u work at a bar) this one pink haired bartender Cassie who is so gross and disgusting I even heard her calling some poor customer the c-word. No class. Avoid at all costs

Cane here for brunch and night out drinking. Brunch comes with a mimosa. Sweet. Drinks are pretty good. This place is cool. Has this«cool kids hangout» vibe to it. There are burlesques, have yet to see one. But heard it’s dope :)

i went to this fucking weird ass«performance art» party 2 months ago and saw a guy take a shit on stage. it was gross. the drinks are reasonably priced and a lot of people during the performance art parties are doing a shit ton of molly so its cool watching pastel haired girls make out sometimes. other then that its a really cool venue!

I’m disappointed and angry that I’ve wasted $ 20($ 16.33 + a tip?) for the steak frites and mediocre delivery service. I’ve ordered the first time and got the steak frites and it came out warm and on time and had no problem. The second time was abysmal it came out really cold and the fries were soggy. The delivery woman’s hospitality was poor she made an excuse that my street was far from Bizarre and I live 10 – 15 minutes away from here. I’ve ordered the food at 9:40 from grub hub and told me that it would be there at 10:35 to 10:45, then 11:00 to 11:10 and she came at 11:30. I can’t enjoy this food now.

I went in with a friend last night(12⁄14) and despite the fact that we’re both regulars, we asked for a price on a drink and a shot. We were told that both of us were charged for $ 13, even though the barback we spoke to(who told us he was a bartender? Or maybe I misunderstood) said our order was $ 10 each. The manager told us we were being rude and told us to leave, but not before calling my friend a racial slur. And still charged us $ 13 each for our incorrect orders. Honestly surprised, but mostly confused, that a place that has such diverse events would have such a vocally racist manager. Avoid at all costs!

My recent at Bizarre was just that… bizarre. I’ve meaning to hit up brunch here for awhile since it’s not too far from home and has a very cool atmosphere. There’s high ceilings, dark/religious Mexican folk art hanging from the bar, a velvet cushioned booth, a stage and tons of seating options. What I didn’t like was the pricing. I am by a big fan of places that have all food items a la carte. I don’t want to order a side of fries. I want the fries to come other my $ 13 meal. I’m pescatarian and love BBQ sauce ironically. The Tempeh BBQ sandwich with slaw was a must! But I did have to give in and order a $ 5 side of fries. Yikes! Unlimited mimosas were listed to one hour for $ 10. I didn’t want to ask if that meant starting from when I order or when the first mimosa goes down. Sydney was our waitress and she was truly the best part! She was so sweet and always kept an eye that our mimosas were refilled consistently. I am happy to report that I got well worth my mimosa fill in the hour. When my food arrived the fries were on the plate and I was starving. My brother ordered a fried chicken sandwich that came with fries but they were nowhere to be found. We got a different waitress to assist and she didn’t even realize it came with fries. Eventually the fries arrived. The food was not something to put on your to do list. But I will stick to grabbing drinks and maybe checking out some burlesque in the future. I will have to mention there was incredible photography show from Meryl Meisler in the basement awhile ago. The photography was all taken in Bushwick in the seventies when it was still unique and dangerous. I loved all of it! Side note: the unisex bathroom is covered in mirrors and the disco ball is a fun addition The rating would be 3 on pricing for the food you get but it went up to four for atmosphere and our waitress Sydney!

Emmet’s fried chicken Benedict is insane! It is the mother and child reunion. Good beers on taps and great staff. Great spot

The first time I came here, I was with four friends and in the middle of our first round two performers came in, wearing next to nothing, and did scantily clad lip-syncs/modern dances while adorned with and holding biblical iconography. We talked to the artists, and, apparently, it wasn’t booked by the bar but rather a guerrilla-preview to the artists’ upcoming feminist reading of the bible, to take place on November 5th at St. John’s Church. Naturally, I had to come back. That being said, each night I’ve come to Bizarre,(a busy Wednesday and a slow Saturday) it’s taken about 10 minutes for a cocktail, and that’s not counting the time it takes to get a bartenders attention. Each time, I’ve also been told that the bartender«can’t» do one of the signature, house cocktails because of an issue with the ingredients. I haven’t tried the food, but the plates I’ve seen go out look great, and they’re often running a good special. tl;dr: mediocre service, draughts, and cocktails; A+ for atmosphere and nightlife.

Great Venue and meeting point for all the artists and people from the close neighbourhood. Spent two evenings there, met nice people, had great talks and nice bartenders. Some contacts stay for my next visit. The food was not bad to. You can drink a lot there it seems–(what I didn´t, but had still great fun).

We had a great out of town«hipster brunch» here last Sunday. A place like this in Toronto would be packed to the rafters and filled with pretension so we were pleasantly surprised when they seated us right away. My girlfriend has the eggs Benny which had the option of coming with fried chicken and I got the pork belly with grits. So rich but soooo tasty. Everything was melt in the mouth good. The chef came out and asked how everything was. He seemed a little stoned but was super friendly. Great place!

Perfect place to visit if you are looking to pace yourself. The bartenders spend so much time admiring their own tattoos and looking at their phones, it’s impossible to get more than one drink an hour. To be fair, I am actually not sure which of the five people behind the bar was my bartender. See above comment for further explanation. Go somewhere else if you wana get drunk. I’d even take a disgustingly hipster Williamsburg bar over this place. And pay the money for it.

I used like this place when it first opened. I came here for dinner recently — I sat at the bar. I asked the bartender what was the best dish in the menu — wrong thing to ask. I had meatballs which were microwaved — the ones from Ikea are way better. I ordered the grilled chicken — but it was horrible. The quinoa was over cooked and one small thigh, not even a quarter piece. The dessert was horrible — the ones from Starbucks are way better. I am sorry. I am not coming back again.

On opening night, I watched a totally goth girl do a a strip tease on the bar that ended with her cutting herself and pulling a rosary out of her vagina. That was pretty impressive, I suppose. Since then, however, it’s pretty much a regular bar(with a great patio in the warm weather, and good eclectic blend of people). They do have the regular«circus of dreams» or whatever, which is a burlesque type show, and you may catch some occasional bizzare shit, slightly less noteworthy than opening night, buy still pretty — bizarre. The problem is the master of ceremonies is insufferable — he’s like a hipster gilbert gottfried. It’s just about not worth it. I hear they serve food now, but having seen a woman cut herself to bleeding and pull something out of her vagina on the very surface you are supposed to eat on, I’m not sure how interested I am in their food… Also, last time I was in there the guy charged me six dollars for a drink, I gave him a twenty, and he gave me 13.00 change. I didn’t say anything because I would have tipped him the dollar anyway. It could have been an honest mistake, but I doubt I’ll go back.
