Worst restaurant in this neighborhood. I’m a local resident in Bay ridge for over 2 years, have been to many restaurant in the neighborhood, and I can definitely say this one is the worst. Not only their food stale but only their services are bad. I took my family their for a Friday night diner yesterday, by the time I saw the steak, I know it’s not fresh. It literally smells by the time I cut it. The manager told me its the smell of fat. Excuse me?! I’m not dumb and I know what fresh meat smells like. He then took it away quickly and exchanged a new one. But that disgusting smell totally ruined my day. Will never go back to this restaurant.

Although we’ve eaten here in the past without service issues, today the food was horrible. Eggs were under done and my wife got food poisoning from a simple cheeseburger.

I hope I never have to come back here again! I ordered«Chicken Brochette» which by definition would be chicken with vegetables on a skewer. What came to the table was two chicken cutlets with a few onions and peppers in a gelatinous goo. Just awful! Four of the five people dining did not care for their food. Two of us ordered a grilled fish platter and both complained there was absolutely no taste. The one baked clam was really baked bread crumbs. For dessert, I ordered a chocolate pudding. Even that was not good! It was not set and if you closed your eyes you would have no idea what you were eating. We were all really hoping for a nice meal out – what a disappointment!

It’s a diner… so I usually order breakfast, no matter the time of the day. So this past weekend I had a short stack of pancakes, crispy bacon, an egg and coffee. It was good! Food arrived timely; waitress was friendly; coffee refills were offered. Not sure why so many negative reviews. And some reviews seem a bit exaggerated… but hey, I wasn’t there. We’ll be back.

Very very BADBAD service we waited 2hour for our food and I think they have to kill the cow to get our steak to cook

This isn’t fancy food. You’re not going to get crazy Nutella or canoli pancakes. But come in expecting diner classics and it seems hard to be disappointed. Not sure why so many are leaving bad reviews. I avoided this place for a while because of those poor reviews and I was really missing out. Best diner in the neighborhood. I come here once a week for breakfast or lunch(depending on what time I pull my lazy self out of bed on a Sunday) and I consistently have terrific meals. The staff can be hit or miss, and you’ll just get better service with some waiters, but I would say that I’ve never once had an actual bad experience. I stick to the basics, though. Pancake, eggs and bacon for breakfast. Or a burger or panini for lunch. Bay Ridge has better burger spots so lately it’s paninis which are consistently great.

After coming to the Bridgeview for much of my childhood, I was disgusted to see how bad it had become when I came here last summer. I would have never come back had it not been for a family reunion dinner for about 40 people. One of the cousins who had planned it had picked the Bridgeview and no one wanted to tell her how bad it had become. Well I am writing this review to let you know that just when I thought they couldn’t get any worse… THEYTURNAROUNDANDTOTALLYREDEEMTHEMSELVES! I’m not joking. The Bridgview is great again. Clean, friendly, and delicious! I didn’t even write the review after that visit and waited for another meal(which I am eating right now) to confirm. I have since found out that there are new owners. I wanted to write this review to let you know not to be afraid of the bad reviews here. They no long apply.

Well today was the last time we will be eating in the Bridge view diner Four different visits to the Bridge view and each visit was worst than the last, ordering the same Mexican wrap which I have had the best of else were and each time believe it or not each one had something different in it or not at all. Hamburgers come out looking as if they were cooked in a furnace and not on a flat top burned badly, not edible. The fountain drinks are served in small soda glasses the hot tea was always warm not hot until it was brought back to the table a second time, and I can’t understand that the diner is viewed by management walking thru all the time making sure all is well with the customers but no one says a word never saw a dish going back into the kitchen. I can only guess that most all customers who eat there are local folks so thats all thats needed for a good business. sad! Well this is my take on the Bridge View Diner.

I don’t know. I tried to stick to the basics. Eggs Sunnyside up and Sausage, French Fries. The Eggs were undercooked, the sausage burnt, and the toast came to the table more than 5 minutes later. It wasn’t terrible, I’ve eaten here dozens of times, but this visit reminded me why it’s out of the normal rotation, and it’s likely to be a much longer time before the next visit.

I came here really looking forward to a great diner lunch. I was looking for the classics in a comfortable, relaxed setting. I ended up ordering a meatloaf and my mother a turkey«thing,» & following was disrespect by the staff and owner of this establishment to the point that I am shocked it is still open. The meal started off fine. It took a little long but I figured the cook needed to maybe make something fresh. I asked for bread because I was very hungry. Bread was fine. The chicken noodle soup came. Couldn’t eat it. Oily and bland. But, I didn’t bother saying anything. It’s soup. Whatever. Then the specials finally arrived. They gave me the wrong sauce with my meatloaf, but I did not complain because it tasted meh. It was good enough. I knew at that point I wouldn’t return because the food was not worth the cost, however I just wanted something and was desperate. Now back to the turkey thing. I took my mother with me. She mistakenly thought the string beans were going to be steamed. That’s ok. She brought it up to the waitress, who said«That’s your fault.» My mom replied, «I know that, but they are also extremely greasy. They aren’t normal sautéd string beans, and besides that the turkey tastes weird». The waitress said loudly, «WHATDOYOUWANT? THEFOODISCOOKED! IT’S DONE! YOU’REPAYINGFORIT! What will I do with it???» At this point, I’m completely stunned. My mother is completely stunned. I didn’t say anything. The owner came by to see what all the fuss was about with the waitress who was having a fit. I mistakenly thought the owner of the restaurant would quickly remedy the situation by offering different string beans or apologizing for that rude behavior by the waitress. I was completely wrong. The owner listened, and then went on the defensive like the waitress did. For some reason, he thinks that because of the following, nothing can be wrong with his food. He said, «I sell so much turkey… I’ve been open 22 years of course this isn’t true… and it’s already made and I’m charging you even if you don’t like it… I’m defending my dish… I sell so much turkey!» He walked away, and at that point I had enough. I told him as he was rushing off to do nothing since nobody was in there except two senior citizens, one of them eating pie she said she didn’t like(I overheard her tell the waitress who said she didn’t like the pie either and walked away without offering different pie), that this is the worst customer experience I ever had in my entire life. I said this is why your restaurant is empty. You’re food is bad and you are confrontational with my mother who was expressing her experience. Now if you didn’t spend all this time arguing we would have ordered something else and you would have made up your money lost. He argued, raising his voice so the people in the restaurant were staring at him, that he was not confrontational. I repeated everything he said to me prior, and he actually denied saying the things he said. I then swore on the Holy Bible as Jesus as my witness that I was not lying, there was no point in lying, and that he is acting completely inappropriately. He still denied he said all the things he said, and I’m sure anyone in the restaurant would have surely backed me up on my claims of what he said because he was loud. Walking away, he turned and started talking about how I think he was intimidating and confrontational because of the way he looked. He did not look intimidating. He was short and stout and losing his hair. Probably Irish or Italian. Maybe in his dreams he looks like a tough guy. But in reality, he’s short, overweight, in a near empty restaurant in Brooklyn balding away. There were no gang symbols. He’s just another 40 something man. He was insulting my intelligence, my perception of the experience, was because I was a woman who had fear of a male(who was anything but intimidating) and that would make me «think» things that didn’t happen. Well they did happen, Mr. Owner. And the few people in that restaurant heard them. He said he acts«like a teddy bear». And I replied, «Sir, you do not act like it, at least not now. You are disrespecting me and my mother.» Again, he went with how I must be wrong with how he looks. That I as a woman«think wrong» because I fear him for some reason. He came up to me and said that he was concerned about the turkey because he doesn’t want it to be bad for other people, to get sick. I quickly replied that that was the reason we told him about the turkey, and he did not handle it properly whatsoever because he was raging over the turkey and that he doesn’t know how to treat a customer. In the end, it took awhile to get our check. I heard him scream in the kitchen to, «JUSTTHROWITOUT!» which everyone else also heard, I’m sure. And it was off the check. I don’t know if I’m sick to my stomach over this nerve-wracking experience or that crappy $ 14 meatloaf special.

Came for a late dinner. The onion soup was not good. Ordered the fresh ham. It was anything but fresh. It was lifeless. Dried out. Couldn’t eat it. I saw some reviews it’s good after a night of drinking. You’d have to be drunk to come here! Sorry guys but will never come back.

Been going there for many years. They got new owners or management or something but it’s not the same. The service has gone down. I ordered eggs over and got scrambled. The waitress actually argued with me say I ordered scrambled. I was with my wife and she heard me. The silverware was dirty. I gave it to a busboy and he said he’d get new but never came back. Had to wait for the waitress. Dirty silver is disgusting. Someone has to put the silverware on the table and not to check it while placing it deserves firing on the spot. Was 2nd time since new people there and won’t be back. The maitre d has no personality whatsoever. He doesn’t smile, doesn’t say hello, is almost lifeless. Some of the waitresses talk too much. They get together on the side and gossip or whatever and sometimes you have to wave to get their attention. Got 2 stars instead of one cause the food is still okay.

Diners are great for morning hangovers because quite honestly, all you want is some greasy bacon and sausage in your stomach. And Bridgeview does its job. Their breakfast specials are pretty standard for diners. Comes with either coffee or a shot(literally a shot) of juice. But I like that the coffee refills come quickly and consistently. I never had to flag down a waiter and ask for it. They also don’t rush you unlike other places. It must have been my hunger talking but I thought their eggs were eggsellent. They are not powdered eggs, which I really appreciate because I’m no longer in a college dining hall.

This is really more of a 3.5, but I round down, so… My favorite thing about this place is that it’s open 24 hours. Many times after coming back from a late night of drinking I’ll stop by and attempt to fight off the imminent morning hangover, and usually it works. They’re perfect for greasy goodness, so I wouldn’t suggest going if you want a salad. I highly recommend their breakfast specials, lots of meats and pancakes. Yum! The service leaves a little something to be desired, sometimes the waitresses will disappear and you’ll have no idea how to find them. They also serve cocktails, which can be fun for a lil morning pick-me-up.

Well I have so many memories here. But things have changed and I find I am not longer comfortable eating here! They haven’t kept the diner up to date, I’m not sure when the last time they did renovations here! It may have been never !! They used to have a personable manager, he was the best. He would walk around say hello, ask how your meal was, and greet you. Now, there is a surly man who acts as if you are an inconvenience ! Definitely not welcoming . The food has also seen better days. The lettuce was old on my salad and the glasses of water were dirty, we had to ask for new glasses. Along with extra napkins and new silverware. I hope they renovate and snap back into shape because I would love to see this place do well.

Slow service, below-average food, and high prices make for an overall forgettable dining experience. There are countless excellent diners in New York and The Bridgeview is simply not one of them. I returned recently after several years’ hiatus and sadly things were about as mediocre as I remembered them, albeit now with higher prices. To begin, service was painfully slow. Normally, this does not bother me. However, the simplicity of my party’s orders(eggs, French toast, and sandwiches) combined with the fact that the restaurant was nearly vacant during our entire meal is strike 1 for me. Our dishes arrived over an hour after they were ordered. Second, the quality of the food was invariably poor. And that is «poor» by diner standards, which are already significantly lower than my standards for higher end restaurants. It was almost as if each dish had a different thing wrong with it. French toast was cold, hash browns were undercooked, omelettes were flavorless, Reuben sandwiches lacked Russian dressing, etc. Speaking in general, the food did not appear fresh and several members of my party expressed stomach discomfort afterwards. I won’t call it food poisoning, because no one vomited, but that’s more than enough for strike 2. Lastly, the entire menu is way overpriced. If a Reuben sandwich is $ 12, it had better be the best Reuben I have ever tasted and should also include several sides(chips, fries, soup, etc.) Sorry, but a below-average sandwich and stale tasting coleslaw doesn’t merit a $ 12 price tag in my boom. Strike 3, you’re out. Giving it two stars instead of one because the Bridgeview is not ALL bad news. They’re open 24 hours, staff is courteous, and they have a cool rendering of the Verrazano Bridge on one of the walls. Unfortunately, it’s all downhill after that. After several poor dining experiences here, I will definitely not be returning.

I guess I never have reviewed The Bridgeview Diner before and that is a shame since I am a fan since it opened its doors some thirty plus years ago to my recollection. Suffice it to say I have had nothing but good experiences here over the years and have always found it a convenient spot to dine when indecision was striking my friends and I. Generally speaking my dish of choice has been the Cheeseburger Deluxe with the occasional addition of bacon. As a youth I would literally inhale this dish but nowadays I return home with some leftovers. Ahh the glory days. I would often top this off with a milkshake but those days are few and far between at this point in my life. It’s a better thing trust me. I always loved the way they made this and have never had an issue with it and on other occasions can say that I have sampled their turkey dinner platter when families simply opted for easy holiday dining at a reasonable price or the varied breakfasts. With these I have had numerous options that fall under your breakfast standards of eggs, bacon, toast, hash browns and pancakes. Sometimes separately and sometimes together in one big ravenous pile. The diner has always struck me as clean and the same can be said for the men’s room facility — Ladies you will have to add in on your bathrooms for me. The servers have always seemed to be friendly and were generally in proximity when needed. Based on what I have had here over the years I cannot say that there was ever a complaint and it is why I come here at least once a month for whatever is on my appetites plan. That is all I have for you.
