They served us Tequila that was poured from a Tanqueray bottle. Ordered a gin and tonic and got a tequila and tonic though she poured it from the right bottle. I’m guessing they substitute their ‘high-end’ liquor with cheap liquor by pouring it into existing bottles. Maybe the person re-filling the bottle was wasted and didn’t realize. Dodgy place, won’t go back. Bartender played it off well and gave us a round of shots, can’t be sure if she knew or not. :(

Delightfully divey and probably not everyone’s cup of tea, but I was into it. Had some fun conversations that you just don’t have in a staid West Village cocktail joint. If you’re around Sunset Park/Industry City and want a cheap drink and a bit of a hood-Cheers vibe, go for it! Manage your expectations and you won’t disappoint.

There’s no other proper bar within at least 4 blocks in any direction, but that’s not enough to make me a regular. Drinks are a little too expensive and the ambiance is way too loud. Friendly staff for sure but it’s not a relaxed place on weeknights and it’s a madhouse on the weekend. Despite being listed on Unilocal as a sports bar and having the NFL sign outside, it’s not very good for watching sports; no one there really cares about sports when they’re on and the music is generally louder than the TV. A few weeks ago I went in to watch a Monday Night Football game between the Jets and Bills. It was 1 minute before kick-off and the bartender didn’t even know a game involving the local football team was about to start. She said she’d switch to it in an hour. There was a reality show on the TV. This is not a sports bar.

I agree with other reviewers about it being so dark in here, probably so you can’t see who is hitting on you until you’re good and tipsy already. I like the guys who work here, the owners are friendly and easy on the eyes, and will make small chat or leave you alone if you want them to but it’s usually empty in here. I like that I can come in and have a drink and be left alone unlike most bars. No tiki ambience whatsoever, but decently clean for a bar with some decent food options nearby for afterward.

Stopped by Tiki bar to check it out after my visit to Micro Center. Pretty depressing, there was a pretty but anemic bartender sitting in front with shifty boyfriend, but place is empty anyway. Place is empty and as anemic as the bartender, but hey, it’s Monday. Ordered the Tiki Lager which tastes like watered down Bud Light. It’s dark at the bar, why bother cutting on lights with no customers? Entrance towards back area looks like the light at the end of a tunnel, but do I dare go back there? Actually the back yard area is pretty nice, long and narrow deck with tables and seats. It isn’t fair to rate based on a Monday visit, but based on my experience today and the fact that shots of whiskey are $ 8(?!), for now gets only 2 stars.

Ok I left this bar bleeding and I’m probably not the first one. My gyal and I arrive there to get out of the frigidness of Brooklyn that night. Walk in, smells kinda like weed, but whatever. The place is kinda dingy, not really«tiki-like,» but we’re down to check it out. Her margarita in a plastic glass was ok. I had a Brooklyn Lager that tasted like it had been run through dirty keg tubing and the glass definitely was not cleaned with hot water. In the back, there’s a poker game going on that was kind of uncomfortable to walk by. A nice touch was the dartboard above a pair of couches. Bartender says bill is $ 13, then charges $ 15 lol. As I’m sliding the empty glass forward, it gets caught on the sticky countertop and I cut my pinky. I bled only slightly on the bar before sopping it up. What a hole!

If they fix the crowd, they got something good. I went my first time recently(after all these years) because my friend was guest bartending. The place is actually really well done and has a great patio. The drink price are okay, but not what I would call cheap, per se(dive bar still way cheaper.) When the neighborhood changes more, this’ll be the spot to be at.

This place is as ghetto as it gets. I was excited when I moved into the neighborhood that there was a «tiki» bar right around the corner. Unfortunately, there is nothing«tiki» about this place. Loud, blasting hip-hop in the background, expensive drinks, and cover charges on weekdays. Not to mention the fact that I was given a «pat-down» upon entry. Doesn’t make you feel too safe. Seriously, don’t go here.

The place seemed a bit of older Hip-Hop crowd if there is such a thing. Guys in there 30’s-50;s stuck in the gangsta mode. Girls were cute, I mean the ones that had teeth :} I would not go back been there done that!

It’s one of the two bars I’ve been to in Sunset Park. I went on a Saturday night(hip-hop night, not sure if they have any other kind of night). Good drink prices except that the shots come in tiny tiny glasses. Bartender was attentive. Overall a good night.

While taking a tour of tiki joints in NYC, we happened upon Brooklyn’s Tiki Bar. The drinks were served in blue plastic cups, but were pretty damn good. Bartender was really cool. The crowd was pretty chill. There was a courtyard in the back that had a few tiki torches, but otherwise the interior décor didn’t have much of a classic tiki vibe. But hey, the powerful mai tai made up for it. Overall, there’s not a whole lotta tiki in Brooklyn’s Tiki Bar. Except for the name.

Came here with a friend on a Saturday night, considering it was pouring cats and dogs, with flash flood warnings issued throughout the tri-state area, the bar had a decent crowd. There was a good number of people there to make it enjoyable. The bartender was great. Considering he was bar tending by himself, he did a heck of a job make sure everyone had a drink in their hands. When we got there, about 10pm, drinks were ½ price across the board. I don’t remember the exact hours but I think it ended like 11pm. At ½ price we were pretty happy and toasty well before the 11pm cutoff on drinks special. The bartender did a wonderful job mixing the drinks. Mind eraser, B-52 and my usual Tanqueray & Tonic. There was another shot my friend ordered but the name is a blur at this current time. The crowd was very cool and the resident DJ arrived at 11pm and started jammin’ old school 80’s tunes, awesome! There was plenty of space towards the back of the bar, enough for a dance floor, an outside deck area and supposedly an outdoor lounge which I didn’t get a chance to check out. All in all a very good night out. I think this place would be good for a private party for sure. Verdict: Yay! I’m a fan.

So a good friend of mine organized a tiki-themed night which started at Zombie Hut and ended here. I like theme nights, and fun was had.(At one point in the evening, I even told the bartender that he was – and I quote–«definitely one of the most attentive I’ve run into in Brooklyn.» And it was true. That guy ruled.) Anyway. There’s a good-sized space here considering the area, and there’s a ton more the proprietors could do with the space. Tiki torches. Hula-themed drinks! The list goes on! However, as it stands, there’s a decent amount of fruity-themed drinks — but c’mon, throw us a bone! Let’s offer shots you have to light on fire!* * I sound like I’m still in college. I assure you I am not.
