These guys are great. Family owned. First time I came in I really wanted orange chicken and they didn’t have it so the lady went to the store and got what she needed to come back and make me orange chicken. Whenever I’m in the mood for Chinese I always come here.

It’s so bad. Got the General Tso’s Chicken. Seemed like a good deal, but when I opened it up the chicken was dry, crusty, and unappetizing. Rice was also dry and burnt. I’ll go out of my way to find a different place next time.

Not closed! I do believe they have a different name now though. I would recommend this place for those Friday nights when you, your mom, or your spouse doesn’t want to cook. Let Chan do the cooking for you! Quickest delivery ever in rain, snow or sun. And if you order enough times, the delivery guy starts giving you nicknames. My nickname is «amiga». Whenever he sees me in the neighborhood, he yells out AMIGA!!! in front of the entire neighborhood. Ive been ordering from this place for years now and no complaints. My one tip: don’t forget the soda on the side.

Tiny and dingy, but fast and cheap — and the food’s not awful! I’m pretty sure they’re cash only. I got the sweet and sour chicken with rice, it came to $ 5.25. It was the pint, but that’s a pretty good deal. The food was surprisingly not-greasy; I’d usually expect little blobs of grease at that price, but this was okay. They were strangely soft though — not sure if that makes them more or less authentic. The taste seemed a bit off, but I couldn’t quite place it. Anyway, I’ll probably not be back. Cheap, but not quite worth it. PS: they use vegetable oil, not peanut — at least at time of writing.

For take-out/delivery– they’re the best in these parts if you like the usual stuff. The General Tso’s combo is my go-to.

I used to eat here about once a week. Yes, it’s greasy and delicious and awesome. But they got a «C» on their health rating, which they only managed to turn into a «B» the second time around. Now, I’m not sure that people should base their restaurant choices on the heath ratings that the city gives them. Honestly, I don’t tend to. But once I saw a «C» and that, when given a second chance, they didn’t really manage to improve all that much(I would have tried to get an «A»!) it completely turned me off. Again, this doesn’t change how great and cheap the food is, nor do I think it has hurt their business at all, which is good for them, but I can’t bring myself to eat there anymore. Maybe I’m just being irrational.

I order from Chan’s Garden at least twice a week. The place is right next door to my apartment so its very convienent. Plus their delivery service is very quick. Food wise, I am clinically addicted to their General Tso’s chicken. For the price, the quality is above par. The pork fried rice and the egg roll are ok(decent but not amazing). Ordering is slightly difficult but it comes with the territory. I have tried all the chinese spots around Chan’s Garden but Chan’s Garden is by far the best in the neighborhood.

This place went down hill! I know it’s cheap Chinese, but it’s become almost inedible. I ordered Chinese vegetables and got a container full of bok choy. When I called to have it fixed I I got yelled at by some guy saying that WAS Chinese vegetables. The beef in the beef broccoli was off as well and everything loaded with corn starch! I used to order from here a couple times a month but it has just fallen apart recently… won’t ever be ordering from here again.

Standard greasy counter joint… only not totally greasy. And actually pretty good. The veggies always seem fresh and not overcooked, the portions are big and they generally respect special requests for additions, subtractions or substitutes. Delivery is consistently quick, and the prices are cheap. Try one of the combinations and you’ll feed two people for $ 6.50.

Chan’s Garden fits perfectly into the 5-star category of Crappy Corner Chinese Places. There’s a million of them in Brooklyn, but this one’s pretty awesome. Maybe it’s the fact that I ate here religiously when I lived across the street, but even though we’ve since moved further into Clinton Hill, I still regularly get delivery from them. Great General Tso’s, speedy delivery, great staff(yeah, the lady on the phone is pretty brusque, but hey: she answers the phone for a Crappy Corner Chinese Place. What were you expecting?), and pretty good prices.

Because this is in Bed-Stuy and is good, I’m giving it an extra star. The broccoli beef and General Tso’s are among the best I’ve ever had. The egg rolls weren’t nearly as good this time as they were the last, unfortunately. The first time I had their shrimp egg roll, it was delicious! I highly recommend both the broccoli beef and the General Tso’s, though.

Chan’s is take out Chinese, not the best Chinese — but still good and fulling. The prices are cheap(check out the lunch special for even better prices), the food is good, their delivery is fast, and everyone who works there is super nice(I love the lady who works there). Con: They need to accept debit/credit.

The food is sweet and salty and as fattening as any good ghetto Chinese joint, but the delivery is fast as hell(especially if they know the security codes to get into your building) and always delivered with a smile. I have ordered from here many a time when i just wanted to put a fat bomb in my stomach after a night of debauchery. The spare ribs are my personal favorite, glistening with amber shellacked goodness that make me feel that if I died during the night from a massive coronary heart attack it was well worth it!

At the grave behest of Mr. Quincy T, I returned to Chan’s Garden to revist the tofu situation, and indeed they have tofu — the actual selection of «tofu» dishes is abysmal but the polite* man behind the counter didn’t balk at my order of General Tso Tofu(no chicken please). It was the right kind of sweet spicy sticky mess I love, but I still prefer the(also non-menu) one from Lucky Star * It wasn’t so much a real politeness… more of a relief that he got a break from the woman barking questions at him and yelling at her kids…

They operated with one wall totally smashed in by a drunk driver. Awesome. I ordered Beef String Beans once and the owner brought me the string beans to show me they weren’t fresh, then he suggested another dish. Most other take-out joints would have just fried up the shitty string beans. Awesome. They gave me a free poster with the name of the restaurant on it and a different Chinese girl every month. Awesome. Most of them are average fobs. Not awesome. Only Miss February was attractive, but you can keep Feb up the whole year by tearing away just the bottom portion of the calendar each month. So Awesome. The other staff, besides the owner, are rude. But it’s bed-stuy and they deal with screaming rude assholes all day so its understandable. And they do have tofu unlike Kelly B. said. I order the sesame tofu all the time(its basically the only dish i get besides the beef string beans). However, the black guy in front of me once ordered some off the menu fish gizzard dish, an adventurous choice. I didn’t even know fish had gizzard. Awesome.

I finally just got my food after waiting for a good solid hour. They are only blocks away. It is raining, so this may not be typical. Woman on the phone was rude also. I’m also a little disappointed that the general tso’s chicken has no broccoli in it. hmm… but overall, food tastes good.
