I walked in and ordered the Szechuan Chicken. The guy said it would be spicy. It wasn’t. It had no flavor. 95% of the dish consisted of tofu and soggy vegetables, with some scraps of chicken mixed in. The next day I found out this abysmal meal also gave me food poisoning and I threw up at the US Open and missed Roddick’s last match. But hey, it was 4 dollars, so I guess it was a deal.

they must have changed ownership or something since these last reviews. worst chinese food i’ve ever had. everything had a weird, plastic-y tasting kind of film.(that includes the steamed vegetables and chicken, chicken chow mein, and hot and sour soup). it sort of tasted like it had been boiled in styrofoam or rubber and the residue had melted into the food. i never waste food, in fact i’m kind of a pig, and i threw everything out. that i did that REALLY says a lot about a place. so disappointing.

Dear Tak Luck, I really appreciate your delicious fried tofu with vegetables. And the fried tofu with just broccoli. You’re always right on time, less than 30 minutes after I call you. You’re so wonderful. Sometimes it’s hard for you to understand me on the phone, but it’s okay because you always give me a free soda with my meal. And one time, when your delivery man hadn’t seen me in a while, A HUG. Very nice, always smiling. You’re so sweet to pack our $ 8 container of tofu and vegetables until it weighs at least 5 pounds. It lasts about 4 meals. Sigh… I miss you so… Love, Tak Luck Customer

Tak is the best take-out Chinese food that I’ve ever had… hands down. The sauces are great, the veggies are fresh, and the tofu is crisp. MmmMmm. I’m going to call in an order right after I’m done writing this review. Chinese food in general is super vegetarian/vegan friendly, but Tak raises the bar. They have several tofu dishes listed on their menu that I haven’t seen at many other places. Including Sesame Tofu, which is to die for. Throw some broccoli up in there and put a fork in me. Not to mention, the people that own the joint are awesome, and couldn’t possibly be nicer. The only reason that I could even imagine rating Tak less than 5 stars is that they don’t offer brown rice. But, I had been to several Chinese food places in the neighborhood before finding Tak and they also did not offer brown rice, so it doesn’t seem fair to fault them for this. It’s obviously time for a Bed Stuy brown rice revolution!
