I miss this café, had been coming here for almost 10 years. I’m not sure why they closed, but I noticed a few really nasty reviews that were left here recently. Don’t know what happened, but I have never had a bad experience here. I liked all the baristas, they were friendly. Good coffee, nice atmosphere, and free wifi. Does anyone know why they closed?

I dont like to make bad reviews. But i have to. Maybe if the barista was not flirting and getting number from the patron i would not be as angry. Coffee is ok, ambiance is fine. But worse service!!! Not coming back for sure.

Really nice spot right off the L. I was early to a meeting and had a few minutes to spare on a terribly hot day! The coconut iced tea is SO amazing! I definitely recommend. Also nice that they have wifi and seems to never be too too crowded to grab a seat. There is a community table in the back and a few two person tables to sit with a friend or co-worker. It was a bit too hot to sit outside on the patio but a great option when it cools down! The woman at the counter was very friendly and helped to suggest her favorite beverages.

Love the selection of take home coffee as well as their espresso beverages. Great service is typical and they have some pretty good snacks as well! No larger fare– not a lunch spot– but good place to get some work done. 4 $ card min.

Easily the worst café in Williamsburg. First of all the worst service. This older gentleman in horn rimmed glasses, with graying slicked hair, a bright green polo shirt that was slightly too tight on him. He starts fussing about with the water. Then he yells at his subordinate or something. His little grating voice is too much to handle. He ruined the whole café experience. He is the reason Williamsburg sucks. Coffee decent to the mediocre side. no good snacks. cheesy atmosphere. really hope this place goes out of business soon. or gets new management.

great coffee place in williamsburg without the attitude. Wish I had time to sit and enjoy my coffee instead of taking it on the go since it was nice and quiet in there. great vibe!

Perfect spot for a quick cup of great tasting coffee or to kill some time. It has indoor seating and also more in the back. Great relaxing vibe and the staff is very friendly.

This is my go-to in the neighborhood for tasty coffee and a quick pastry. Great vibe, great staff, and a nice backyard area to stay and enjoy your drink. Their espresso is delicious(and I usually grab a chocolate croissant too).

Review is for cold brew only, which was superb. The pastries looked great also, which I will be back for(and the cold brew.)

The boys enjoyed their ice coffee and i tasted it and it was pretty good. I was just a little bummed I could not get an espresso to go… doesn’t make sense to me. I guess i’ll come back and one day try it if i have time?

Excellent beans using forty ninth parallel. This makes for an excellent espresso. Don’t pass this place up

Solid. Good coffee. Personable persons. Not too many baby carriages. And in the summer it’s a total gem with outside seating both covered and open air(careful of those rays). These people know and love coffee and they’re cool about it. What more do you want?

really entertaining staff, well located with a nice view of the street. A bit overpriced and not a good verity of pastries.

It’s about time that I write a review, since El Beit has become my second home! I recently started grad school and freelancing, and this place is the perfect coffice. Plenty of places to sit, more outlets than any café I’ve ever seen and really damn good coffee. I’m here every other day, and it’s the perfect spot to do some work, people watch and meet friends in the neighborhood. They play music, but it’s never on too loud and if anything I appreciate some background noise amid the chatter. In the summer, they have a whole backyard section with wooden tables and yellow steel chairs. It’s the perfect place for a warm Brooklyn evening. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the bathroom could benefit from a bit of upkeep. The baristas are friendly and the manager is especially nice. Basically, it’s a completely different vibe then the more pretentious joints around here(you know exactly which spots I’m referring to), and the coffee is IMHO better. While I don’t want this place to get too crowded(I NEEDYOU, ELBEIT), I also think it’s necessary to recognize special neighborhood small businesses. After Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts moved in down the street, I think it’s especially important for us locals to protect the places that separate what’s left of Williamsburg from a strip mall. El Beit is one of those places. So leave the tourists to the chains and go to El Beit. You won’t regret it.

a couple choice quotes from el beit baristas: ” will that be for here or to bounce? « » do u have a different scarf for every bag? like did u put that on and think ‘wow its gonna be a good day’ « man el beit used to be so fucking chill. what happened? who are these ppl? FINALLY they put in that starbucks a couple blocks away from this place but its lame too. beanies, flannel, i just want a regular ass starbucks where they wear all black. free refills tho(gold card member… u mad or nah)

I wanted a cool place to get some work done in Williamsburg. I found this place on Unilocal and it had good rating. But honestly, the real reason I went there is because I am Lebanese and«ELBEIT» means the house in Arabic. So I thought alright, must be home-y. I got there, ordered an ice coffee and looked for a place to sit. To my surprise, they have a backyard. It’s adorable. Lots of trees around, small and large tables, an old couch. Very casual place. The only downside is that there are no plugs outside that’s a burden. The coffee was good. Nothing out of the ordinary just your typical ice coffee. I would definitely go back.

Had a cortado after asking the sullen-faced, grumpy barista if I could have a decaf(hey, I needed to get to bed at a reasonable hour) and he said that they didn’t have any decaf. As you will see by the picture I post, they had decaf espresso beans for sale. Humph. So I feel a bit iffy about that encounter, but I can’t deny that the coffee was good. Definitely not too milky as you are apt to find at some other places. Vibe was approachable enough so I would go back to give it another try.

«Get a coffee» their sidewalk board gently prods. El Beit made me smile before I even walked in. For the coffee-conscious, their beans are from Forty Ninth Parallel. I don’t know what that means exactly, but I can tell you that a cup of their French press($ 2, not bad) will perk you up. Inside, this café is a bit smallish, but a lovely rear patio — coupled with friendly service — guarantees them a spot in my café rotation.
