Went here for brunch on a Wednesday with a friend, we shared the Ricotta pancakes and avocado toast with a side of poached eggs and thick cut bacon. Atmosphere was very nice and staff helpful and friendly! Ricotta pancakes was absolutely delicious but quite disappointed with the avocado toast. Tasted like the avocado wasn’t ripe enough or they used too much lemon.

The food here was really good. Not a sandwich person but tried their swordfish sandwich with a side salad and was impressed. The sandwich is nice and light but very filling. The place is however very small, had to sit at the bar, service was not great. They were busy and probably under-staffed.

I’ve been living in NY for the past 8 months and this was one my first spots my husband took me. Had the best experience on that occasion. Great food, service and overall experience. Today we attended another brunch event, it was ticketed and poorly arranged so we got no food. Coming to five leaves, we were told the wait would be an hour which I was fine with. After 40 minutes of waiting, I asked the host where we are in the line to which I got«you just have to keep waiting, I can’t keep checking» Here’s my note to the hostess : 1) That response was beyond poor because Its the first time i’m asking. 2) we have a 105 pound Rottweiler waiting in the hot sun, my mother visiting from another country and we all haven’t eaten for the day. The reality is we’re just as frustrated and annoyed as you were but my tone didn’t reflect that when I spoke to you. Don’t think I’ll be back again because if you’re not taking reservations and not giving folks that courtesy of being polite, it’s really not worth it.

I wasn’t impressed with this brunch spot at all. The restaurant is pretty tiny, so if you’re seated inside, it gets quite cramp. Plus, the tables are small and we were having trouble fitting our 2 dishes, glasses of water and bottle of water on the table. Food: Ricotta Pancakes($ 15): While the pancakes look impressive, there’s not much to say about it. I would recommend getting the butter on the side. As I was eating it, I started thinking that the ricotta must have been incorporated into the batter because I couldn’t taste it at all. It wasn’t until my friend pointed it out, that I realized it was in the middle of the pancake. Which I think is kind of stupid, unless they made ours poorly. The ricotta doesn’t really go with the pancakes so while I didn’t dislike it, I didn’t like it either. The pancakes itself are fluffy, but not the fluffiest I’ve had and I wasn’t impress with the taste. The dish is very big though, so be prepared to share or to bring the leftovers home. Moroccan Scramble($ 14): My friend ordered this dish. The dish was ok and I had a couple of bites that I enjoyed. But overall, there wasn’t anything that stood out. But I noticed that the sourdough bread was very tough to cut through. The food isn’t horrible, but it’s not a brunch spot that I would recommend to my friends. Plus, it’s kind of expensive for the food that they’re serving. Maybe this place used to be a lot better, but as of now, I will not be coming back seeing how there are so many other brunch places in NYC with better food and pricing.

Maybe my expectations are set high because San Francisco’s brunch game is a lot stronger than here. But overall, it’s O-K. They don’t sit you until your whole party is here and it seems like they are pretty strict about it. We went around noon on a Friday and we were seated in about 20 min. Had to hunt down the hostess after being told to wait at the front because she was taking names outside! Service– at a busy place like this, I usually expect the servers to be top notch. Our waitress seemed like she had more tables than she could handle. I’m patient but she took 15 min to come to us and the drinks took a while– basically came right before the food. Brought the food out and didn’t see her until we had to ask for the check. Food– I ordered the ricotta pancakes after reading such great reviews. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good but not light and fluffy as I had hoped. It’s dense and somewhat dry. Can’t really taste the ricotta. They put a HEAPING amount of butter on top– I suggest you take some off to the side, it is way too much. We also ordered the farro bowl which was great– because it’s different than a quinoa bowl which is what most places have these days. Flavors meld together nicely with the poached eggs, but if you are going to say asparagus on the menu– maybe put more than two small pieces of asparagus. Also ordered the avocado toast– nothing special. They burned the toast so had to cut some of it off. I saw great reviews so I was expecting to be wowed. Overall, an underwhelming experience for the price.

I wanted to leave a bad review because of the wait, nearly an hour for our steak and eggs! But I can’t deny the tastiness of the pancakes and steak and eggs, it was worth the wait.

Great bring place in a busy area. Must-try: ricotta pancakes! They are fluffy, not too heavy and you can definitely tell there’s ricotta in there. One of the best pancakes for sure! The rest of our brunch was pretty run of the mill, ordered the Moroccan scramble and big breakie. Topped it off with the brûlée grapefruit, which had a nice ginger surprise — very refreshing! There are tables outside but this place gets pretty packed so be prepared to wait about an hour during prime lunch time. Plus, no reservations.

Hipster alert. But this place is great! The pancakes… Where to begin. They are super tasty and worth the $ 15. But the portion size is huge, so it’s great to share. The avocado toast and Moroccan scramble is yummy. Grab a friend and share the two dishes! If there is a line I always go to Beacons Closet and do some bargain hunting.

Those pancakes though. Visited Five Leaves after seeing it top a number of Best Breakfast in NYC lists a while back. Stumbled in after a 12-hour overnight Greyhound ride, deprived of sleep, food, and caffeine. We were the first patrons of the morning, and were immediately given a nice window seat by the front door. Waitress was friendly and quick with the coffee. Food was excellent, atmosphere was great(though I could see this play being way too crowded when busy), and overall a solid way to start a morning in Brooklyn

Eh… It’s OK food. Went here for brunch with a few friends and braved the 1.5 hour wait with a bunch of hipsters and people who largely looked exactly the same. Was it worth the wait(also started to sprinkle a little while we were there)? No, not really… The food is mediocre– not bad, not good. Was really enjoying the music, and the service wasn’t bad at all. My burger was tasty but it basically fell apart– became too messy to hold and eat which I absolutely hate. My friend sent his first dish back but it was replaced with something that was equally bad. In hindsight I wish one of us would’ve ordered the pancakes instead of the various egg dishes. The drinks were OK. We wouldn’t go back given the line. But if there were no line at all this might still be an option. As it stands it’s just another over-hyped restaurant in Brooklyn.

Enjoyed a cramp evening at five leaves. I think it’s a perfect date spot in Williamsburg. It’s small and quaint with beautiful lighting. The menu is pricey but that’s just because it’s in a bougie part of town. I feasted on the five leaves burger which has a fairly thick patty, lettuce, tomatoes, beets, grilled pineapple, and a sunny side up egg. The burger was around 16 dollars which wasn’t too offensive. It was overall an «okay» burger. I say the quality of meat they use doesn’t beat Dumonts Burgers down the street from them. But if you’re into decent okay food but great aesthetics, then you should go to five leaves!

I’d give 5Leaves 5 stars, but had to take 2 off because our almost break-your-teeth grilled octopus. There were kind of sea salt peaces orange color. You cannot chew them. but you can really chip your tooth with it. After 3 bites me and my friend were scared to eat it. Our waiter was very nice and took octopus away to investigate what is it. They took it off the bill. Dorada was sooo good. Covered with fiddlehead ferns, pickled hon shimeji, stuffed with herbs and garlic. Yamm! Bottle of Sauvignon Blanc was very good! The best thing is outside area with tables facing park. We came after the rain with no reservation and were seated outside right away. No noisy guests outside :) I would come back to try their oysters one day. Hopefully their octopus investigation was a success.

An honest 3.5 Stars rounded up to 4 Stars, all thanks to their amazing coffee. Yup, coffee was my overall favorite part of Five Leaves during my brunch visit. Today was a beautiful day out, my companion and I woke up early so we decided to make our way to Greenpoint for a Sunday brunch. We arrived around 10:30 am and was quoted a 45 minutes wait(it was really only about 30 minutes). Party for 2 moves fairly quick. There is no ‘regular coffee’ so the purest you will get is the Americano — which is espresso with hot water. Perfect cup of coffee that I would skip the milk and sugar! Mimosa, sparkling white wine and orange juice, can’t go wrong with this! My companion and I opt for three of their popular dishes: Brûlée Grapefruit, Ricotta Pancakes, and the Moroccan Scrambled Eggs. Brûlée Grapefruit was a nice start to our meal to open up our appetizers. A charred grapefruit with a layer of sugar on top with ginger and mint. The fruit was very fresh and sweet. My hands were sticky from the sugar but love it! Ricotta Pancakes. This was said to be one of their most popular brunch dish and it is ‘fluffy’ as quoted from many reviews. However, I did not have a similar experience with this. I thought the pancake texture was dry and a bit of the hard side. At least in my past experiences at Clinton’s Baking Company, ‘fluffy pancakes’ are so soft that my knife just slices through it without much effort. I did like the honeycomb butter and fresh fruits, it gave the pancakes more flavor. Moroccan Scrambles Eggs. I liked the spicy flavor. It is scrambled eggs on top of an avocado sourdough toast. I did not taste much of the merguez sausage, it was hidden behind a part of the scrambled eggs. A very light dish that I would not mind getting again. A popular and solid brunch spot. Long waits on weekends but the line moves fast! I would definitely get coffee from their take-out window again!

Long wait(about 1.5 hours) but amazing food! I had the Moroccan scramble and my friends had the big brekkie and a burger. We also had a side of truffle fries, grapefruit margarita, mimosa and lemonade. I loved my scramble, though it was a little on the spicy side for me(I’m weak) and everything else that I tried was awesome. My lemonade was fresh and homemade and the other drinks were great, too. The margarita had jalapeño salt on the rim of the glass — nice touch.

There’s a reason why I came back here after a second visit, despite the 1 hour wait time on a weekend. My friends and I arrived around 1pm on a Saturday and the wait was about 1.5 hours. As we seated, the tables started clearing up. So, I would recommend coming here when it opens or around 1pm-ish, but can vary. The first time I came here, my friend and I had the truffle fries, moroccan scramble, and the ricotta pancakes. This time around, we got the same thing! The other sandwiches ordered were the blatt, five leaves burger, and the house cured artic char. As for the starters, we ordered the truffle fries and thick cut bacon(we were starving since we waited for a long time!!!). I had the ricotta pancakes again. After all, that’s exactly what I came for. The truffle fries have just the right amount of truffle and are great for a munchie while waiting for the entrees. The thick cut bacon wasn’t really thick, yet was a good three pieces for us to share for the time being. I love the ricotta pancakes and no place makes it like five leaves! It includes one whole banana, some strawberries and blueberries stacked with those yummy ricotta pancakes. It isn’t try and just pleasant to eat if you’re craving for something sweet. I couldn’t finish everything, but its a good amount for two people to share I would say. My boyfriend had the house cured artic char, which comes with bread for you to put the smoked salmon and capers on. The house cured smoked salmon was thin and the texture is slightly smoother and colored than regular smoked salmon. It was yummy with the capers! I’m not sure about the BLT and the blatt sandwich but from what I saw on the plate, it was a huge portion amount. It filled them up! I would like to try this next time, but they said it was delicious, so I’d take their word for it if you come by! Drinks – the graprefruit magarita is refreshing, and I had the sparkling wine and it complimented well with my pancakes(wasn’t too heavy). I’d keep coming here for their ricotta pancakes when I’m craving for it, and I wouldn’t mind the wait either.

I’ve been meaning to try this place! We arrived here for an extremely late brunch at 6pm. We ordered the avocado toast, the five leaves burger and steamed mussels. The avocado toast is delish, served with multi-grain toast, smashed avocados, ground pepper & lemon. Basically guacamole on a slice of toasted bread. The five leaves burger got really messy because the brioche bun was not toasted and became very soggy by the juices of the burger patty. The shiny-side up egg yolk did not leak when we cut it in the middle :’(that would of been the best part. We also opted for the truffle fries, recommended! The steamed mussels are a must-try if you like curry, made with coconut milk. It is not spicy, so don’t be afriad! The sauce is great for dipping and it also comes with croutons. Overall, I would recommended this place but I would not try the five leaves burger again, unless they do something about the bread.

Ran into this place walking down Bedford avenue. We were craving some seafood and they ended up having the best mussels in wine and butter sauce I’ve had in a while. We also ordered half dozen oysters(which were just what I expected), not sure what type of oysters. Service was great, our waitress seated us last minute and we received our food at a pretty decent time. We also sampled the dessert menu! Some great options, anything from ice cream to

Such a busy place! Went on a Saturday around 2pm and it was about an hour wait. Luckily the waitress squeezed us in at a small table right in front of the door but it was a bit too small and uncomfortable(and cold since the door was right there). I had their mushroom toast which was quite disappointing… I really didn’t like the mushroom sauce since it made the toast taste like a steak without meat. I would rather have had a nice steak lunch with mushroom sauce… My husband had their signature burger which was really cheesy and good. But the pancakes omg… Somebody was ordering next to us and it looked so delicious! Will try it next time and add a star if that impresses me enough. Will be back for pancakes but not the mushroom toast!

A gem of a restaurant is what I would call Five Leaves. Hasn’t disappointed me yet especially when it comes to my favorite meal of the day: breakfast. Situated in front of McCarren Park, Five Leaves has the distinction of having massive pancakes. I first ordered a stack not knowing the immense size and when they came out and placed on the table, my eyes widened with a mix of shock, fascination, and hunger. These pancakes are not for the faint of stomach. The ricotta pancakes are airy and have a good density without being too filling. However, you get a stack of three with a whole banana, bananas, blueberries, strawberries, and honeycomb butter. That buttah though is sweet buttery perfection. The honeycomb gives it a nice crunchy texture and as it melts on the pancakes is delicious. I believe my stomach expanded after eating the ricotta pancakes but so worth it! Of the other menu items, I’d also recommend the satisfying avocado toast, earthy mushroom toast and the fragrant sage scrambled egg panini though honestly you can’t go wrong with any of the breakfast items. The service is great too because everyone is friendly and fun so it’s easy to strike up a conversation with the staff. The only minor thing that Five Leaves doesn’t have is brewed coffee which is a bummer. They do have espresso-based drinks and they can make an Americano as a substitute but if you’re looking for straight-up coffee, they won’t have it. Haven’t had anything other than breakfast here so if you love breakfast, give Five Leaves a visit. Happy eating and remember: Don’t deny, satisfy!

Five Leaves is one of the best brunch places that I have ever been to. My boyfriend and I came here on Valentine’s Day so the long wait was expected but it was definitely worth the one hour wait. The only thing I didn’t like was that the place was a bit tight. We already knew what we wanted to have, he had the famous ricotta pancakes and I had the big brekkie. I chose the mushrooms and bacon as the two sides. The mushrooms were phenomenal and the dish itself was overall good. The egg was perfectly cooked and the hash browns were delicious. His pancakes were the best we both have ever tried. We also had to try the truffle fries which were also amazing and super crispy. I have absolutely no complaints. It was just perfect!

The *Five Leaves Burger*($ 16) is definitely something you cannot miss out on when visiting this spot. It is an epic, delicious burger! Grass-fed beef, harissa mayo, with a sunny-up egg on top of a slice of grilled pineapple ONTOP of a house pickled beet(ノ^ヮ^)ノ*:°・゚We would never think all these different components could work together so well, but each ingredient complimented the burger so perfectly it blew our minds! Just make sure to get a bunch of napkins because this burger is super messy. Definitely a must-get! Another great dish we had was the *Ricotta Pancakes*($ 13). Great flavor throughout this entire dish – from the pancakes, to the fruit, down to the syrup. We would buy a bucket of the honeycomb butter if they sold it. It’s literally that good. The *Avocado Toast*($ 8) was pretty good too, but we wouldn’t order this again. The grilled 7-grain toast was a bit too firm and crunchy for our taste. We also wouldn’t order the *Ceci Cela Almond Criossant*($ 3.75) only because it was a little firm like it had been sitting out for a while. Overall, Five Leaves is unquestionably one of the best breakfast/brunch spots in bk. It’s a small place that can feel really crammed at times, and there’s always a 20+ minute wait when we go here, but it’s worth it. Can’t wait to try everything else on the menu~ Oh, and dinner too~

Came here around 5 and they gave us «in between» menu instead of dinner. Unfortunately we noticed after we ordered so we ended up having sandwiches and appetizers. Nonetheless, food we ordered were really good. Truffle fries: fries were fried perfectly, crispy and light! I loved how you can smell truffle it was coming out. Perfect combo with mustard they gave us. Shishito peppers: omg i had sucha bad heartburn from this. It was spicy as fuuuu and some of them were crunchy which means they weren’t cooked. I think they weren’t shishito peppers bc they were too big to be one. Other than that it was seasoned very nice, salty and sweet. Devils on horseback: this was something ive never tasted before. Bacon was chewy and dates tasted sweet potatoes making it the perfect combo of sweet and salty. BLAT: this was basically blt with eggs and avocado. It was really good but i wish i got something else instead. five leaves burger: ughhh sooo gooood. Holy crap it was really tasty and huuuuge. It was hard to eat it in one bite. This is a must and i will def come back for this. Overall i would come back to try their brunch menu bc they are famous for their brunch

Came here for brunch, it was an hour wait for two at around 1130 on a weekend. It’s pretty cool how they serve at a take out window so you can have something to sip on while you wait to be called. We decided to take a walk around the neighborhood while we waited to check in with the hostess again. I recommend stopping by Peter Pan’s Donut shop to pre-eat on a little snack if you’re starving. When our names finally got called, we were seated in a little corner booth. The tables here are quite small and cramped, not a whole lot of room for multiple plates. I ordered the Big Breakkie which comes with your choice of 2 sides(I chose grilled chorizo and avocado), 2 eggs(pick your style, I got poached) and hasbrowns. I can’t say the food was anything special or impressive. The highlight for me was probably the hashbrowns which came in more of a potato cake style. If the lines are long I would find somewhere else to eat as the food here is only mediocre.

Brunching at Five Leaves was one of my favorite brunch experiences– EVER. In both NYC and at home in Cali. I think every single thing we ordered made us «OMG.» It was all so soooo good. The Moroccan Scramble and the Big Brekkie with grilled chorizo, hash browns and fried tomatoes were the dishes that I ate in particular(my order and my boyfriend’s, which is mine by extension, he-he). The Moroccan Scramble included eggs, sausage and chickpeas — with a very healthy serving of avocado. The flavors all blended together very nicely, and included fresh tasting spices and peppers. The Big Brekkie was bomb. Chorizo was bomb, hash browns were awesome(although I do have a weakness for all types of deep fried potatoes), and tomatoes were fresh. Everything was very fresh and very good. The restaurant also has an interesting Heath Ledger background story.

Five Leaves is a restaurant near Nassau Ave stop on the G train in Brooklyn. I came here for lunch on a weekday with a friend. The restaurant is small, so seating for more than two people will be burdensome. The small tables are close together, what seems to be the norm in popular NYC spots. I was told that Five Leaves has a great vegetarian/vegan selection, but I was not impressed by their options. Avocado toast? Fruit salad? Falafel sandwich? These are typical options that are available for every American brunch. They do not substitute any items. The dishes that sounded delicious and unique to me had meat in them. They can remove ingredients from a dish but will not replace it with anything else. Why pay $ 16 for that dish then? I ordered the falafel sandwich. It was nice, but I was yearning for more flavor… more of something! I’m not sure if I would come here again. I think I can find the same thing for a better price with more seating or I can find something better with more options accommodating to non-meat eaters.

I’d seen this place a quite a few times and thought, ‘seems really popular and kinda, Brooklyn cool.’ Turns out to be exactly that. A friend suggested we head to five leaves for their burger. We lucked out, with no wait. Last two seated spots! Dim lighting, recycled materials with industrial finishes and a menu to make vegetarians happy too. So, of course, I ordered medium rare burger with salad. The burger was perfectly cooked, seasoned and juicy. Lived up to its reputation. There’s plenty of seating outside which I suspect would be packed in the summer. In addition, they have an awesome walk up window for the coffee hounds like myself.

I am a fan. Five Leaves almost always has a wait(especially for brunch) and now I understand why. The food is excellent. My friend and I both got the regular burger. WHAT a burger. It was OUTSTANDING. I didn’t know a burger could be done this well. Huge, juicy, tender, cooked just right, cheese melted to perfection, you get the picture… I opted for a side salad instead of fries because I don’t like the feeling of being too full off of greasy food but this was no ordinary salad — delicious, fresh, interesting ingredients. And not the kind of salad that makes you wish you ordered something else instead. I also tasted the truffle fries which were excellent as well. Fries are so simple but so easy to mess up. Definitely getting fries next time. Like many places in Brooklyn/NYC in general, the seating is very, very crammed although it sort of adds to the ambiance. Also, the servers are okay — not particularly friendly or attentive and a bit rude at times. But it’s a «New York» kind of rude so take it how you will. We were able to sit outside given the unusually warm December weather. As expected with outdoor seating, service was a bit slow but for some reason I didn’t mind. I definitely want to revisit Five Leaves in the near future for brunch and lunch/dinner again to try other menu options.

Although I bookmarked Five Leaves to have brunch here, I ended up making a(great) last minute choice on this spot for dinner one summer evening. I had been wanting to come here for brunch, but every time I wanted to, it was too crowded. The night I decided to come for dinner, it was a little busy, but my date and I were seated outside. It’s cramped outside, but cozy on the inside. Does that make sense? Probably not. Anyway, we ordered a couple of drinks and an order of the grilled marinated skirt steak for each of us. The steaks were both prepared exceptionally well. I had no idea what the hell celery root mash tasted like, but I took a gamble and wasn’t disappointed. I am now even more eager to come back for brunch, even if there’s over an hour wait.

SO glad I found this on Unilocal when in the area visiting The Museum of Food & Drink– thank you Unilocalers! It was a bit hard to find because the name wasn’t on the building(or at least I didn’t see it clearly), but it’s right on the corner! Glad I didn’t give up on finding it. The wait was an hour, so my sister and I ordered to go food. Luckily, the food only took 15 minutes and a bar seat opened up for us to sit at. The bartenders were extremely accommodating and transferred the to-go to a plate. The hostess was so busy when I watched her running around, but so kind to all the guests. The food was AMAZING. I had the Avocado Toast on 7 Grain Bread with 2 Fried Eggs on the side. The bread was tasty and the perfect amount of crispy. The avocado was a perfect ratio of chunky to crushed with an extremely generous portion given. Eggs were cooked perfectly. My sister got the BALT. Tasted a bite of that and it was amazing as well. I know I’m going to crave coming to Brooklyn again for Five Leaves!

You can’t go wrong at Five Leaves. I have only been for brunch a few times, but have loved it all. Apparently their burger is also amazing if you are there later in the day. The big breakkie is an awesome meal. The hash browns are outstanding as well as the baked beans. I also love their sautéed kale option for a little greenery. They poach and or scramble their eggs perfectly. For an appetizer, I suggest getting the house made jam and clotted cream. I like it with a baguette. So amazing and creamy and fruity and wonderful. I can’t go there without ordering it. Also, the pancakes are awesome if you are sharing with someone. A stack of huge fluffy cakes with the most amazing butter ever. So good. I was not wild about the bruleed grapefruit. Probably the only thing that was lacking for me. They also have great espresso. A bit expensive and super crowded on weekends so beware.

I finally got a table here after wanting to try this place for years. It’s normally a 2 hour wait, but my Halloween outfit the morning after Halloween probably helped a little in reducing that to 30 minutes or so. The tables are small and it is a bit cramped, but hopefully this will get better when the space gets expanded. Food: Truffle fries: mmmm Lamb pot pie: the bread on top was slightly undercooked and the lamb stew inside could’ve used more seasoning; wouldn’t order again Ricotta pancakes with blueberries, strawberries, and bananas: delicious Egg panini with tomato: pretty good
