BADS Overpriced. Burger was proportionately too greasy for the bun. Biscuit was somehow dry and also tasting like Crisco Fried green tomato was deep fried to the point of nastyness. It’s no wonder this place closed.

I’m really surprised by the low ratings. I’ve been here a number of times… Breakfast and lunch. The breakfast: get anything that includes the biscuit, it’s superb. And, the bignets… Unbelievably fresh and tasty. Lunch: it’s a really decent burger, local ingredients, and a decent price.($ 7, expensive for a burger? What are comparing it to, factory farm/mass production/minimum wage or less labor, burger? Sure, then it might seem pricey… Try to compare to dumont, which is great, but reeeeeally expensive.) I’ve also had a few specials… Fried chicken… Pretty damn good.

My wife and I had been wanting to try Goods for a long while now, and a groupon for a 50% discount on $ 20 worth of food was what made this dream a reality. After purchasing the groupon, I read a bevy of mediocre to decent reviews on Unilocal about Goods. I must say i was rather nervous about eating here yet I was pleasantly surprised by our experience. Service was great and very fast. My wife and I split 3 items: A Kale salad with cornbread croutons which was fantastic, curly fries which were awesome, and a pulled pork sandwich which was the reason that I’m giving Goods 3 stars. The pulled pork was advertised as coming on a biscuit, which it did not, and not only was the pork VERY dry, it was also VERY charred. I’ve eaten my share of pulled pork in my life and this was pretty bad. I am sure that they have some more winners on their menu and we will probably go back to try eating here again.

I appreciate the grass-fed«local» beef that Goods uses for their burgers, which are indeed delicious. People complain about the price, yeah a $ 7 burger is a bit pricey to not come with fries. However, if you consider the reduced environmental(shipping/cattle factory) impact, the price is right. The bun is soft, the meat succulent, and the cheese creamy/tangy. Compared to Dumont down the street, these burgers are a veritable bargain! I have to reduce the rating by a star because of their biscuit, egg & cheese sandwich. Simply put, it is a greasy, crumbly mess. Again, it does have a nice flavor, but is such a hassle to eat that it is just not worth it. Cool space. For a long while, the location was a forgotten empty lot. Now, the modern silver bullet trailer and the attached«yard» is a welcome addition to the Lorimer/Metropolitan intersection. P. S. They have Abita Root Beer! P. P. S. Upon trying a few of their«specials», I was quite disappointed in the size of the plates — 8 small broccoli floretes w/2 quarter-sized hushpuppies for $ 11?! A ½ cup of rice topped with 2 small pieces of pork belly for $ 13. Advertise these as «sides» and you’d at least have your expectations in line, albiet at a high price.

My friend and I were intrigued by the exterior of Goods, and so we decided to grab a bite there. The food, although a little overpriced, wasn’t bad, but the service was probably the worst we’ve experienced. Two parties that sat down after us were served way before us, and they also forgot to give us our fries. It seemed like every time we asked for something, they would forget and we had to remind them several times. The workers were so incompetent that we decided to call them out on it, and we got a free bag of beignet out of it. They just kept making stupid mistakes, it was so frustrating. We tipped them a dollar, but afterwards regretted our decision. We wished we had just not paid and walked out.

I stopped by this place on my way home last night, after an adventurous ride on the L shuttle bus(seriously, when will that construction EVEREND?). My stomach’s original«hungry lady must eat NOW» plan was to stop at Hana for a sandwich before jumping on the G train, but stomach was lured to Goods instead by the cute, brightly lit airstream trailer.(My stomach likes shiny and it wants what it wants. I try not to question it.) Menu seemed to have a lot of fancypants specials for an airstream trailer — shark? duck? Wow. It took me a minute to decide what I wanted. Staff seemed nice enough(which is always a pleasant surprise in this land of surly service), although the guy taking orders was being a little TOONICE to the clearly wasted girl in line in front of me, b/c I had to wait awhile for my order to be taken while they were flirting. Anyway, I ordered the burger and curly fries and waited maybe 10 minutes for my order — it wasn’t too long. The food was just… ok. Living in NYC, we are spoiled by the glut of artisanal burgers and Pat LaFrieda blends and whatnot, so I’ve definitely had better. But it wasn’t bad, either. The portions could have been way bigger for the $ 11 I spent. The burger was on the small side(with no condiments! no ketchup or mustard? What’s that about? I had to add it on myself when I got home.) and a tiny side of curly fries — which were $ 3.25 extra. At least the fries came with ketchup.

After 35 minutes of waiting for our order to turn up we asked to make it «to go.» 10 minutes later still without food we simply left. At the time they were barely half full(Friday 10:00PM) so not sure what the hold up could have been. Also: no bathroom, not sure where the cook washes his hands. Disappointment for such a nice looking place.

4 stars for their biscuit: real cheese, seasoned egg, and a biscuit soaked overnight in buttermilk and then deep fried in lard. Hooray

I was here for the Tasting Table event last night which included all you can eat jambalaya, fried oysters and beignets and fresh iced tea and homemade lemonade. I loved the outside area with the lights and the picnic table. All of the food was fantastic although I wish there would have been at least one other option… like fried green tomatoes or fried chicken or a slider version of their burgers. The jambalaya had andouille which was quite spicy and delicious and the chicken was really nicely seasoned and fully cooked yet tender(I have a hatred of undercooked chicken, actually it’s more like I love burned chicken). The fried oysters were amazing with nicely seasoned breading and the dipping sauce was zesty without being too spicy. It went well with the oysters and had a lot of fresh herbs in it. And the beignets… oh the beignets. Hot & fluffy with plenty of powdered sugar. I could have eaten a bunch more but I was so full already. I would go back just for those. The only thing missing from the beignets was a nice cup of dark coffee with chicory. The lemonade was homemade with mint in it and was delightful. My husband and I mixed it with the fresh brewed unsweetened tea to make our own Arnold Palmers. It was quite delightful. I would likely go back just for the beignets!

Tried Goods for the first time last night, and was really disappointed. I ordered the GoodsDog and it was the worst hot dog I have ever eaten. It was really dry and flavorless, and the toppings(relish, farm cheese, mustard) all congealed together and were on the top of the box when i opened it. I’m not in the area that much, so I doubt I will ever give Goods a second chance, but when something as simple as a hot dog can taste that bad, I don’t know if they deserve one. Maybe I just picked the wrong menu item, the other stuff could be good.

The only thing that I really see as a problem is kind of a benefit at the same time. I sometimes wish that they would include curly fries automatically with their sandwiches. That being said, am I happy that they don’t.yes. Because one does not always need the french fries. I love their back little patio area and I love their fried green tomato sandwich. I really do recommend the fried green tomato, I’ve had it twice. It’s not a huge sandwich, more like a slider but it’s the perfect amount for me. It was seasoned perfectly and the cole slaw on it was delicious. I had the breakfast sandwich with sausage too, I liked it. But it was really crumbly and dripping everywhere and I don’t think they gave it to me on a plate so it was a tad bit too messy. But it was delicious! But what happens in the winter?

As someone who lived in N’awlins for several years, my heart skipped a beat when I saw beignets on Goods’ menu. They didn’t disappoint either. Not only were the beignets the perfect size for popping in your mouth without getting too much powdery ‘goods’-ness on you, but the taste transported me from Metropolitan Ave. to the Marigny. Another southern food fav on the menu is the fried green tomato sandwich – so juicy and tasty that I don’t remember a word my friend said to me while I was eating it. You can tell they’ve put a lot of thought and effort into the retro trailer-turned-kitchen and the courtyard that’s right next to it. The staff is really friendly too – it looks like they’re having fun. I’ll definitely be coming here a lot this summer!

Third Ward is doing some great things for Artists. And those artist’s need to Eat. That’s where Goods comes in. Charming hipster staff will take your order, who enjoy their work and put you in a good mood! Bottom line, it’s a bit overpriced. If the prices must be that high(Check out my photos of their burger) ATLEAST make the portions bigger! After waiting about 10 minutes outside for my Fried Green Tomato Burger and paying $ 10 for a lemonade and the burger– I actually had to look inside at the burger and make sure they gave me the right order because the bag was SO light! But here’s the upside. That burger was ROCKIN’ — despite the slider size. I just wish it had been a more fair portion considering the price. Tomato’s aren’t that expensive wholesale, neither are buns and slaw.

I was in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn with some friends on a Saturday evening, taking in the warm weather and the numerous sights and sounds Williamsburg has to offer during the summer. We came upon this pretty neat looking place… picture an Airstream trailer with the inside modified as a restaurant kitchen. Since I was walking with my friends’ dog, we weren’t allowed inside to dine, which is perfectly understandable… but the funny thing was, there wasn’t really an inside, or rather the inside was really outside. You see, this Airstream was«parked» on what was once an empty lot(or so it seemed) and some outside structural beams and metal sheet roof was placed around it. Doesn’t seem like a diner inside would be able to weather the elements, say if it were raining? Anyway, it was a unique design, something you may not see as frequently in the city as if you were in some other part of the U.S., so if you’re ever in the area, maybe you should pass by to take a look… As to the food: Goods doesn’t offer that large of a menu. Most of what I saw were burgers, hot dogs, $ 12 bucket of chicken, and fries. They have more, but that’s what caught my eye off the menu that was on a chalk board stand. The prices were kind of expensive IMO. Their«Goods Burger» was $ 8.25. I don’t remember the last time I paid that much for a burger. But I thought I’d be open-minded and give it a try. The burger was kind of small(a Wendy’s ¼ single is probably bigger) and wasn’t loaded with too many toppings. Fries didn’t come with the burger… if you wanted them, they cost 3 more bucks. The extra price caught me by surprise, but I decided to give them a shot as I was expecting something similar in quality, quantity, and taste as to Five Guys. I was even more surprised by the fact that I received a small serving of curly fries, those of the frozen store variety. Overall, I was quiet displeased with my «Goods» experience. The burger was nothing special. Honestly, I know I could make a burger that would taste much better. If the price was cheaper, then maybe I would have a more favorable opinion, but at 8 and a quarter(plus extra if you want fries), I think they’re charging a little too much for a product that’s not really up to par. Oh yea, btw, they don’t take credit cards… cash only and they charge you sales tax… To me, this place wasn’t really«good»… it was«eh» and I don’t think I’ll head back again. Maybe I’ll walk down the street a few blocks and hit that diner on the corner…

Yes, this place is attractive. Shiny, metallic, and smooth. The aroma is tantalizing… caramelized onions sizzlin’ down metro. DONOTBEFOOLED. Excited by the beautiful hipster faces inside the trailer bullet, I ordered my first Goods Burger & Fries. Snippy attitudes graced me by sloppily taking my order. Perhaps I had to repeat myself a couple of times due to my short order cook’s flirtatiousness with the androgynous skinny jeaned biker behind me. Anyhow, the food. That is why I’m writing this entry. 15 minutes later I had my food to go. My destination was less than a 3 minute walk away, no time for take-out to become soggy. Of course, when I opened up my greasy paper bag, the soggiest, under-cooked, flavorless greasy mess awaited me. Lets not even talk about the 2 day old poor excuse for curly fries. I tried pulling the burger apart– reheating the patty in a frying pan — trying to get the drippy blood out of my ground beef. Food stands should not serve under-cooked, practically raw, burgers(specially if it isn’t requested) ! HUGEHEALTHHAZARD! Anyhow, cooked it up, toasted the bread, put it back together, noticed they put just 2 slivers of cooked onions on there, and began to masticate. So utterly flavorless. The next morning: intense diarrhea. no joke. Totally not worth it. This place is a dirty sham. For«farm raised meat» farmer’s cheese, and blah blah blah, its all over-priced for LOWQUALITYCRAP. I rather spend $ 8.75 at Macri Park and get 2 drinks + a FREE decent burger. Although, I probably won’t be eating solids for a while thanks to Goods. I’m calling this new hipster pit-stop BADS.

Goods is a welcome addition to the East side of Williamsburg. The scene is an old Airstream trailer that has been converted to a kitchen, serving burgers, Hotdogs, and fish & chips for lunch and dinner and biscuits and eggs for breakfast(they are great, the biscuits are southern style and perfect!). They have some outdoor seating, but mainly it is a sidewalk window. They have just opened in the past few weeks and so have a few details still to iron out. Despite this they are putting out first rate burgers and the beignets are good if a little doughy. They have been open two weeks and I have been here like 6 times.

Oh my. the shiny retro 1946 airstream trailer, and I have to do a double-take. since I was on my way to a brunch, I was torn. so I tried a GoodsDog, which sounded intriguing enough. the relish and sweet onion mustard has a nice kick, reminiscent of a nice smooth wasabi. Beignets may have been good, but I tried them several hours later. and they were soggy. so will have to give this another try. Funny, calling it a food truck when it’s obviously permanently there on the corner, and I see some workmen in the hidden backyards. could be outdoor seating. so exciting, and totally screws with the idea of what a food truck is.

What a great place on a stretch of Metropolitan that could use some good-food love. We went for dinner and split a hot dog, burger, and fries. Everything tasted yummy — the burger and toppings were juicy and the hotdog was almost bratwurst-esque. Then we stopped by for breakfast and had some delicious beignets. Next time I’ll try the homemade granola bar. The only downsides are that prices are a little high for a take-away window(until the garden opens) and the service is a little slow(but I’ll cut them some slack on that since they are just getting up and running).

As a southerner I was so excited to discover GOODS. Created by some chill southern guys from New Orleans who felt like Brooklyn was in dire need of their culinary comfort food nurturing. They are now open for Breakfast*, Lunch and DInner located right off the L train at the Lorimer Stop.(at the corner w/Metropolitan) Just look for the shiny van, yes shiny ooooh be mesmerized and proceed. Their breakfast sandwiches are so Goooood, you must hurry yourself over here and try one. They make their buttermilk biscuits and mix up their sausage in house, or camper, should I say. They bring in fresh New York State Farm cheese, and they serve grass fed hot-dogs for lunch and dinner. Also serving up burgers and fries and I love that for their fish and chips they are using local brooklyn lager to make the beer batter, I think I will be going back for dinner! * as a special reward for waking up early for breakfast you will be able to brush your shoulders off knowing that you are among the few, the weary who are able to enjoy the breakfast menu’s own delicious. powdered … sugar… beignets! oh yes. worth the minutes of sleep lost.

I’m not sure who the first person to convert an airstream trailer into a diner was… but god bless him. Williamsburg’s own has just opened today, and it is a welcome addition to our culinary collection. Just blocks away from my apartment, I’ve been watching this vacant lot slowly evolve into something much more alluring. As of today they are open for business, but the back garden(where diners will one day have the option of «to stay») is still being developed. And by developed I mean furnished with beautiful flora. The dining experience today was simple: Walk up to the window, place my order(which consisted of one large intelligentsia coffee — ice coffee coming soon according to cute cashier — and one sausage, egg & cheese biscuit), and sip on said coffee while I waited about seven minutes for the tray of fresh homemade biscuits to finish baking. The verdict? Worth the wait. The biscuit was absolutely incredible. Soft and buttery, I can’t think of a better conveyance for sausage, egg and cheese. As for those guys, any single one would have probably held its own on the biscuit. In total, it was incredibly(almost too) rich, with the pleasant brown crust on the grilled sausage patty, and the tangy cheddar domineering my palette. The ingredients all tasted as fresh as they were advertised to be. In the future, I may take them one at a time with the biscuit so that I can more fully appreciate the complexity of each. I haven’t had a sausage patty like that in this neighborhood before, and I credit both the guy who sourced the meat and the grill cook for that. As long as we’re lauding the staff, for being slammed on their opening morning everyone maintained their composure incredibly well. The staff has a real 50’s vibe to them — the grill cook with his sleeves rolled back like a greaser, and the cashier with her hair up and cherry red lipstick. Being crammed into such a tight workspace hasn’t seemed to affect their attitudes(yet). Service with a smile, and a pleasant invitation to return. And return I will.
