I rarely take the time to write a Unilocal review. That said, the customer service at Habana To Go was so awesome tonight that I could resist. I go to Habana Outpost often for margaritas and chips during their open season. I love their fish tacos — not greasy, lots of flavor, delicious! So, when I was down the street this evening getting my hair done I figured I’d walk down the block while my color set to grab some tacos. First, the young woman at the counter was DELIGHTFUL. She was patient and kind, giving me time and guiding me when I couldn’t make up my mind to save my life. She must have seen the disappointment on my face when I inquired about the veggie taco. I said, so what veggies go into that one? She said well, it’s guacamole, lettuce and tomato. Again, she must have seen my «oh that’s it?» face. Without skipping a beat, she said, we actually have a vegetable mix today that is sautéed, why don’t I have them throw that together for you? And let me tell y’all, it was DELICIOUS. So, here I am, hair setting and my salon calls to tell me that I need to come back — I’ve clearly taken forever to make a decision.(Concerned that my hair would snap into pieces) I went to the counter to inquire about my order. The manager has since come behind the counter and heard my cries for help. She insisted that I go and she deliver the tacos to the salon down the block. Seriously? Amazing. Note: it was really really cold tonight and she volunteered to go outside. Not only did she bring the tacos straight to my salon chair, but she brought me a free water bottle. Habana staff, you made my night! Thanks for being so kind. It’s the little things that keep the world smiling.

Yum. I’ve ate in the city location a couple of times. I was working around the area, so i Unilocaled # and called, I ordered the fish sandwich, the person on phone was a nice female and professional, I ordered with ease and she told me 8 mins, and she was right. Thank you BLUEISHGREENHEADGIRL lol for the good sandwich and fast service.

Though I’m a fan of the original Café Habana, the Outpost leaves much to be desired. It may have won the popular vote in large part due to the success of their sister location in Soho, but it’s clear the execution is far from the same. There are better options in Brooklyn, but that’s not to say that it’s all underwhelming. BK had incurred a population boom over the last few years and Habana Outpost has set up shop in one of the borough’s hippest neighborhoods in Fort Greene. The lines are worse on the weekend, but with a little patience and a penchant for the outdoors, Habana Outpost could pass as a solid choice overall. The Grilled Mexican Corn(i.e. elote) is one of the more popular choices on the menu(read: safe bet /hard to screw up). A dash of chili powder, cotija cheese crumbles, butter smeared all over a corn cob makes for fun eats. And at a $ 3.50 for each, it feels pricey next to other similar spots, yet it serves as a no brainer apperizer. The rest of the menu is a mix of everything from tacos($ 3+) to burritos($ 9 – 12) and quesadillas($ 7 – 10). I haven’t had much luck in either area. Without regarding price and portion, I’ve found it’s usually the flavors that are lacking. At this point, I’d avoid the tacos entirely. If all else fails, just cough up $ 10 and get a Cubano sandwich. And also order a mojito($ 7) on top of that. Our non-Latin cuisine lovers might appreciate the«For The Gringos» section, which aside from being both hilarious and necessary, features burgers, hot dogs, and chicken fingers. There are also *insert* on a stick for food on the go, but I would be hard pressed to recommend it. At this point, it might as well be a kid’s menu. Lastly, the BK location also holds the distinction of being one of the first and only solar powered businesses in NYC. Thus, this outpost is closed for the season. We’ll just wait till the nice weather months before Outpost emerges again. Take that Con Edison!

Other than only accepting cash, this somewhat rundown outdoor space is somewhat perfect for parents with young children during afternoons of warmer months. First, you don’t expect it to be a problem(and trust me, it’s not) if your child messes something up. Napkins and menus were blowing all over the place while we sat outside one early Fall afternoon. Second kids seem to like it. For whatever reason: the bright colors; the neglected water fountain; the self service or the freedom to run around in Habana’s vast angular space, the other kids had the same lit-up-like-a-Christmas-tree look on their faces as my toddler. So no matter how much I was itching to get out of there, i tolerated it because he was having a good, simple, no pressure time. Third, the system is a bit of a pain the arse, and kids love to see their parents annoyed. If you take the side entrance, you’ll have to walk inside to grab a menu, go back to your table to figure out what you want, go back inside to order and pay, then back outside to wait for your order. It’s kinda like being at your single cousin’s house for a 3 p.m. bbq that really starts at 5, only you have to pay. $ 19 and change for chicken fingers, fries and a chicken sandwich seemed steep to me. What happened to Brooklyn being cheaper than Manhattan?! Guess that doesn’t apply to Fort Greene anymore.

I came here a few weeks ago to bid my cousin & his girlfriend a fond farewell before they moved to Seattle. As a west side of Manhattan girl, I’m pretty unfamiliar with Brooklyn’s hidden treasures. I wanted to put in a good review, so to recall the name of this place, I seriously just Googled«Fort Greene corn» and found the correct restaurant. So there’s my biggest takeaway: get the corn on the cob. It rocks. The outdoor patio area has plenty of room for all on its picnic tables. Great for conversations without having to scream at each other. It definitely makes sense that they’re seasonal, though, because if I remember correctly there are zero inside seating options. It is cash only which is sort of a bummer, but I got drunk with my cousin at a reasonable price. So that’s a fair trade-off, I think.

I managed to check out Habana Outpost on one of the last warm days of our waning summer season. FTW! Such a great spot with a bright, latin-inspired ambience with pretty lip-smackingly good food. The only thing I take objection with is that its labeled as a «Cuban» resto. There was one Cuban dish on here(The Cuban sandwich) but apart from that I felt like it was lacking on its Cubano flavor. Great outdoor seating with colorful tents, white tiled floors and a large fountain that at the entrance of the backyard seating. It is like a very huge, artistic Mexican cafeteria. The reason I say that is because when you first walk into the resto, you place your order at the front with the cashier. She hands you a number and you find your seat. When your number flashes on the electronic screens, you go to backyard(or the front of the backyard if you’re already there) and get your food on these large vibrantly colored trays. In terms of food, mmmhmmm good. I ordered the steak burrito with maduros(plantains). My friend ordered the Quesadilla and we both loved what we ordered. The prices were fairly decent($ 9 each for the burrito and quesadilla). Also, if you’re in the grab-and-go kinda mood, there’s a Habana Outpost right across the street that handles pick-up orders.

I have been to Café Habana in Soho, and their menu is so big compared to Habana Outpost. Meaning, Habana Outpost sticks to the favorites and doesn’t leave any chance for disappointment. Which is exactly what they delivered. It’s located right off the C train, which is a little out of the ways for a girl from Queens(me), but not terrible since there are other trains close by. There is a huge space for outdoor seating. Though crowded on a Saturday night, finding seating for two wasn’t a difficult task. There was staff cleaning up tables and keeping the flow going, which was great. There are two lines when you walk in, but you may only see one. The first line is for food AND drinks. The second(sometimes non-existent) line is for drinks and corn only. The line wasn’t too bad when I first went in around 8:30, but was almost out the door by 9:30. The lady who took my order was very nice(I can’t even imagine how burnt out she must be having to smile, be nice and patient to every single person, though. Great job!). She told us that we take the receipt, and either wait for our number to be called at the food truck outside(?!) or keep an eye on the many number counters for our number to come up so we can go pick it up. I ordered veggie tacos sans cheese, rice and beans plate, and sangria. The veggie tacos were simple but very good. I LOVED that they added guacamole to it because the veggies inside the corn tortilla. THe rice and beans was pretty standard, but not bland(sometimes I get rice and beans and it has that boiled flavor, bleh). The sangria was on the sweet side with diced apple in it. My boyfriend really liked his Cuban sandwich and the catfish tacos he ordered. He wasn’t a fan of the corn because they put wayyyy too much cheese on it, but I hear that’s how it’s supposed to be. Shrug. I love the vibes to this place — music at a comfortable level that you could drown out everyone else if you wanted to, yet won’t have to scream at the person in front of you to have a conversation. The vast outdoor seating was a huge plus for me. We’ll be back!

It’s too bad Habana’s outpost is seasonal, because it’s one of the best things about Fort Greene summer. The outdoor seating is huge, and is truly one of the best ways to eat brunch during the summer. The food is good, although my boyfriend’s eggs were slightly undercooked in the Huevos Rancheros so it isn’t his favorite place… I got one Fish($ 3) and one Veggie taco($ 3), as well as a Margarita($ 9) that were delicious enough to come back though. Also, they have more brunch choices, but that section on their menu doesn’t seem to be available online… It’s CASHONLY, but there is an ATM. The service is fast and they’ll call out your name from the food«cart» in the corner of the courtyard when your food is ready. If you recently watched«Chef» with Jon Favreau and are craving a Cubano($ 8.75), they serve them here as well as their To-Go location across the street(which is open year-round!)

Really good sandwich Cubano(although it’s not your real traditional one), and delicious frozen margaritas. The place has a real nice with a fun outdoor area playing Spanish music and plenty of picnic tables to sit on. I really like the ambiance and the food, but I’ve seen the line that forms at night to just walk in on weekends, and I don’t think it’s worth that type of a massive line. But, nonetheless, great fast food with a nice chill outdoor area.

Frozen margaritas on a hot summer day? Why not? Habana Outpost is conveniently located in Ft Greene, Brooklyn. It’s right next to the C and G trains but also a short walk from the Atlantic Terminal subway stop. One of their most popular items are their frozen margaritas which are delicious and refreshing. The also offer mojitos, sangria, a delicious spiked lemonade and a handful of beers. There is an extensive menu with a little something for all taste buds. The food is fairly consistent, fresh, and flavorful. On my most recent visit I had the guacamole and queso burrito. My friends ordered different types of tacos as well as a Cuban sandwich. The Cuban sandwich and tacos were a hit except the fish taco. My friend didn’t go into depth as to why she wasn’t a fan of the fish taco but she lover the chicken and pork. We also had the chips and guacamole. I felt as the guacamole was rather bland and could have used a little more spice and flavor. We were there on a Friday so around 4pm a DJ came and started playing some awesome tunes. Unfortunately we were on our way out but the music definitely added to the fun vibe. The place is definitely kid friendly. I’ve even seen on the calendar that there are certain events that are geared specifically towards children. Overall, Habana is definitely a MUST when you are in the area.

I love Habana Outpost but I feel like the price in proportion to the food is ridiculous. I ordered a salsa and chips which cost 6 dollars, when I got it my salsa came in a nacho bowl ½ full, on top of that because it’s a nacho bowl and not actual bowl ½ of the ½ got sopped up by the tortilla it can in. I also spent and extra dollar for extra Sala and literally got maybe ½ an ounce of salsa in a little cup that’s the size of a thimble(don’t believe me? I have pictures…) Really?! This is my 1st time coming here and I’m not at all impressed. Mind you I’ve been wanting to come for years. If anything I’m appalled. I ask a worker if the proportions were right, he looked me in my face and said, «yes» and companies his«yes» with a firm nod… #ICant I coulda took my happy self down the block and got authentic Mexican with proportions that respect my hard earned money.

We love coming here. My point of view is a little different from the other reviews. I’m a momma and my little ones are ALWAYS in tow and Habana is VERRRRRYYYYYYY kid friendly(during certain times of course) We have been to countless Halloween parties, back to school parties, first day of summer parties and sat/sun activity mornings all hosted by Habana. My family has many memories here. The staff are always so nice and friendly perfect for dealing with all the small children that come to these parties. A plus parents can still partake in frozen deliciousness. The frozen deliciousness does sneak up on ya a bit so one is recommended unless you are an experienced drinker such as myself ;-). Two drinks and I’m usually starting the kiddie conga line. Outside of the parties we like to go early in the day during the week, it’s a good location to meet up for play dates or mommy groups with little babies and toddlers(totally speaking from experience) the kids are so fascinated by the little fountain in the center of the outside seating area. The seating area inside isn’t as big as the outside but great to take a break from the heat. We enjoy the food the pork tacos are my absolute favorite. My kids like the chix and waffles on a stick. There is a nice variety in the menu. It’s very unlikely you will find me there late on a Friday or Saturday night it turns into a whole scene with a bouncer, tons of people, waiting for food and drinks and I just don’t have time for that knowing the speedy service and laid back atmosphere I am so used to.

Habana Outpost is a really fun place to grab a frozen cocktail, and they have many to choose from. Frozen margaritas, frozen daiquiris, and frozen piña coladas just to name a few. They have a giant batch in a little dispenser machine so there’s plenty to go around. I had the piña colada and my friend got a margarita. I liked my drink, but after taking a few sips of his margarita, I definitely preferred his. In didn’t get any food here, so I can’t speak on it. It smelled pretty good though. Most of the seating here is outside, and they play really catchy music, its literally like a nonstop party in the middle of a Brooklyn neighborhood. The service here is pretty friendly as well, I had no problem leaving the cashiers a generous tip. I can’t wait until I come to brooklyn next summer to enjoy a frozen drink outside.

Stopped by for an early dinner with a friend a couple weeks ago after meaning to visit for months. Even received a recommendation from a random hairstylist who used to live in Brooklyn while on a trip a few weeks ago. So, we went in with high hopes. The ambiance is nice, so we were excited that the meal would match the décor. WRONG Everything we received, aside from the chicken and waffle pops, was cold. Even the Mexican Street corn was awful! Cold and rubbery. I was so disgusted I didn’t even know where to begin and we were both too exhausted to endure the hassle of calling a manager over and waiting for recooked food. So, we trashed the remaining food and called the manager over on the way out the door to let him know about the poor experience. My time is very precious and so is my cash. So, a restaurant only has ONE chance to get it right with me. When my friend and I went to this establishment, it wasn’t even that busy. So, the fact that we received cold, thoughtless food during a lull does not bode well for what we might receive if it’s really busy. Customer service is SO important and each dish should be prepared with that in mind. Especially in the highly volatile restaurant business. I won’t be going here again. I don’t care if Oprah scooped me up in a limo to go grab a bite.

One of the best outdoor seating/hangout spots in Prospect Heights. This place is awesome for summer days where you want to enjoy a frozen cocktail outside and grab a bite to eat. Grab a table and a frozen mojito and maybe some grilled corn! Quesadilla was overstuffed with cheesy goodness! Full bar at your fingertips. Selection of hot sauces near the forks and napkins outside. Fun environment. You can either get your food from across the street or pick it up at the good truck parked within the outdoor area. It’s all self service. Great for groups and kids.

I need to come here more often! What a great space for hanging out with friends, drinking some tasty margaritas, and chowing down on some tasty Cuban and Mexican staples! The atmosphere is definitely the highlight of this place – a great outdoor space with tons of picnic style tables and umbrellas… and a live DJ on some days! Oh, and if you’re not feeling the lively, outside vibe, they have indoor seating as well. Food highlights include the fish tacos(soooo flavorful) and the grilled corn. The breakfast burritos are also yummy. My only complaint about this place is the price point for their rice and beans; while they’re tasty enough, they are super overpriced at $ 6.50! It’s weird that the rice/beans are priced as such because the rest of the menu items seem priced as expected. I’ll be back… just sans the rice & beans :)

3.5 stars I really wanted to be a super fan of this place, but unfortunately the experience was just OK nothing stellar. The drinks were a couple dollars more than I expected but nonetheless they were good. $ 10 will get you a flavored margarita or Mojito. In my opinion the drinks are better when the frozen part has melted away. Habana outpost drinks can be real creepers so be careful lol. For food, I ordered the hamburger which was actually really delicious and freshly made. The outside seating is really cool and bright and inviting. Habana is located in a really cool area in Brooklyn. The way Habana works inside is that you wait online to order your food, pay, and once your food is ready you look on the screen that shows your receipt number and go out to the food cart in the back seating area and get your meal. The ambience and environment at Habana is very inviting and laid back. I will definitely come back here to try and see what all the super hype about this place is because I didn’t see it the first time.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this place. One definitely has to experience it for themselves. I have been going to this eatery for years hence I am surprised that I had not yet written a review. I love how the main dinning room is outside making this an ideal summer night venue. You do not need a reservation and you pick your own seat making this place a socialite’s delight. The drinks are amazing and large. You definitely get a good bang for your buck. The food prices are also affordable making this a great get together with others spot. If you only want take out they have a spot across the street where one can buy. On Sundays they play movies outside which again adds to the personality of the eatery. Please note that there is security on the premises and you do get asked for ID when walking in.

Havana outpost has taken over the entire block and we loved it! 2 locations across the street from each other one was habana to go and looked like the one in NOHO and across the street there is the outdoor seating one. Went to the outdoor one on a Friday night and boy was it packed! Every seat outside was full and there was even a bouncer at the door. Every person had a margarita in hand and looked like they were having a really fun time. We just ate the food and as always the cheese corn did not disappoint! Wait time was quick for the food, and found a seat inside behind the registers. Good prices good food and good vibes. One star removed that there was no space outside, maybe take reservations for some tables outside so that new people can come, it seems as though people were there for hours in one seat, so new people just had to stand around. Cash only fyi !
