I ordered for delivery and tried out the spicy salmon, spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, eel avocado, and california roll. With the lunch specials, you get to choose whether you want soup or salad so I tried out both. First off within 15 – 20 minutes of placing the order, the order was delivered. However, the person that delivered the order was very rude when I picked it up. As far as the taste, the rice was softer than other places I have tried. The eel from the roll was not entirely fresh and I could taste the fishy-ness, the shrimp tempura roll was pretty good with light batter and a sauce drizzled on top, the spicy tuna and salmon roll was just okay, but I’ve experienced better. The dressing from the salad was on the sweeter side, but I still ate everything. I probably would not eat here again, considering how many sushi restaurants are around this neighborhood, I only decided to order from here because I thought I’d give it a try, but after this time, I would pass on this restaurant. Other than the delivery man with rude manners and the rolls just mediocre, I’d give it three stars.

Cannot follow simple directions. Asked for a roll, but got handroll instead. This happen multiple times that I have ordered for delivery. Just don’t be surprised if your order is not what you actually ordered.

Never coming back to this place again! I decided to stop by this place for takeout since I was already around the area. I placed my order in the front and sat down to wait for my order. I noticed that the place was pretty empty. There were only a few customers inside and two sushi chefs at work. After 30 minutes, they finally gave me my order. By then I have already lost all my patience so once they gave me my order, I immediately left. When I got home, I noticed that they forgot to pack two of my rolls. How do you take 30 minutes to make my order and manage to miss two of my rolls?! I called them to complain and they delivered the two rolls to me which took another 30 minutes. As for the quality of the sushi, the rolls were decent for the lunch special price. However, the cucumber was bitter and there were bones in the salmon… Made a huge mistake coming here.

I’ve tried many sushi places and Kasumi is the perfect restaurant for your money. I eat here regularly(once a week) and the staff is very attentive and polite. They know me and my boyfriend’s usual orders by heart so much that they give us our eel sauce and spicy mayo without us asking half the time. The pricing of the restaurant is pretty good for lunch specials as well as for special rolls. If you are looking to try some new special rolls, this is the place to go. The rolls are always buy 2, get 1 free. My personal favorite is the Honeymoon Roll. I also recommend trying the Karate Roll and the Halloween Roll. As for regular rolls, their selection is pretty standard and they also offer chicken teriyaki rolls(sounds weird, but one of my absolute favorites). As for their appetizers, the ginger sauce used in their green salads is very different from most sushi places. The sauce is lighter and much sweeter. Their rock shrimp is okay. Bubble tea is another popular item here. I tried the chocolate bubble tea. Its consistency and taste is similar to chocolate milk. As for dessert, I recommend the fried ice cream. It never disappoints. Overall, Kasumi has some pretty good sushi. I will continue to back for some of their delicious food!

Amazing place. I have been going here for years. :) Me and my sister’s favorite spot. We can substitute no other place for good sushi. Big portions, always generous prices and most of all, fresh! I honestly don’t understand the negative reviews. Most of the negativity doesn’t have any place here. Lol Expect fresh GREEN avocados in your sushi. NEVERBROWN. It’s so nasty when restaurants give you brown or soggy avocados in your rolls. And Susan is just the nicest person. She may not be very good at English but you can tell she works hard and cares about the food. I have never seen her away from the restaurant. She is always there. And I have been going for a long time… Highly recommended spot!

My cousin suggested this place as it’s very low cost and the quality(as he said) was very good. Last night I ordered a tuna, futomaki, and eel cucumber roll for delivery. The rolls were very small, especially the tuna. I wish that they tasted the quality of their fish before they use it because it was very poor. Mom didn’t raise me to be a food waster so the trash can got the tuna for dinner. The other two rolls were also borderline spoiled tasting but more tolerable given they were mixed with veggies. I also ordered a clear soup(which was good) and a side of ginger dressing that I wasn’t charged for which was nice. Next time however, I’d rather spend on Tokyo Bay Sushi if I have a «cheap sushi» craving.

The whole table has to order all you can eat even if it’s one person that wants it The food is good but they have the worst service ever they let you wait for your food more than an hour it’s like they don’t care about who’s in the store we were the only ones in the restaurant and they were working on w delivery order

I was there alone, only 2 other tables had customers. Service was horrible, and staff outnumbered customers at least 2:1 so really no excuse. Don’t think the lack of attention/service I got was related to being alone because it seems other tables were waiting a while as well. Food wasn’t too bad, but what I apparently ordered, salmon lovers, had 2 pieces of salmon, 2 pieces of I assume tuna and one piece of white fish, and California rolls with no salmon only imitation crab. My first Sapporo was finished when my food arrived, but I couldn’t get the attention of anyone to get a refill until my food was halfway finished. When I finished I was sitting waiting forever to get my bill while the staff cleaned everything up getting ready to go home. Not until I stood up, at least 20 minutes after finished and waiting for my bill did they make my check for me. $ 23.00 seemed a bit high for what I got, and service sucked so I pulled back on the $ 10 tip I had intended to leave and instead left $ 5, in all honestly I should have left even less than that. With all the sushi spots on 86th street, this will not be one I will be returning to.

It’s $ 14.95 for AYCE sushi lunch on a Saturday.(not sure if it’s a different price for dinner and/or weekdays). There was only one other table dining in. It seems like Kasumi is more popular for takeout. The AYCE menu doesn’t have many non-raw fish options, if you don’t eat sushi. They’ve got your typical salads, tempura, teriyaki, and udon. If you’re ordering the rock shrimp, the menu says 3 pieces but it’s really 6 pieces. So don’t make the same mistake as I did and place two orders because it wasn’t that great. They also don’t have any special rolls on the menu. It’s only basic hand rolls, which was a little disappointing. As for the fish, it was okay. It’s what you would expect from one of these sushi spots. There’s one item on the menu called saba, which is actually mackerel. Not sure why they don’t just write mackerel, but this one tasted SO gross — like it was on the verge of being spoiled. Avoid that one and the egg sushi, which I thought would just be a piece of scrambled egg on a ball of sushi rice. But the egg had a lot of sugar in it and it tasted like old ginger. It was just plain bad. If you’re going to go with the AYCE, stick with the salmon, tuna, and white tuna. The kani salad is also pretty good.

They have all you can eat, but they mainly focus on delivery/takeout along with leaving AYCE’ers wait for a while. Customer Service between customers and workers are okay. Not much customers here at times. The times when I came here, there are motorcycles(used for delivery) blocking paths and became so crowded. They should move their stuff so people can make their way and sit down. Food are okay, but the sushi tasted a bit too warm. It’s a bit annoying since the female who takes order lingered in the back too long when there are few customers at times.

Had delivery today because it’s super cold and I don’t want to go out. I had the 3 roll lunch roll– the sweet potato roll, shrimp tempura roll, and chicken teriyaki roll. I didn’t like the mayo in the shrimp tempura roll but the other two rolls were pretty good. My boyfriend also had the 3 roll lunch special– the crunchy yellow tail roll, chicken tempura roll, and the Alaskan roll. The crunchy yellow tail roll wasn’t crunchy… Besides that, the gyoza was alright a the miso soup, well what can I say, its just miso soup. Oh and it took forever to get delivered so it didn’t taste so fresh but can’t complain since it’s cold out.

Happened to come here for lunch, they have really great specials. I ordered a sashimi deluxe and it came with miso soup and a bowl of rice. Already way too much food that I can finish. The sashimi regular comes with 12 pieces of fish. Pretty good deal for $ 11.95. It included 3 pieces of tuna, 3 pieces of salmon, 2 piece red snapper, 2 piece white tuna, and 2 piece squid. All the fish tasted fresh, but quality was so and so.(I only say this because I’ve tried omakase.) I guess it’s passable for lunch. I also noticed there wasn’t many patrons here dining in but they were constantly making take out orders.

Sea urchin is really good. It’s all fresh. But it’s expensive than other kind sushi. $ 3.95 Today im coming eat for this. I love it. And I order pineapple fried rice. I think the chef put too much oil to this rice, :0 it’s horrible I never eat it again. Prefer I would like eat udon. And when i visit, I feel comfortable, and relax.

This place was not bad. We did not do an AYCE. We instead decided to order from the menu. We came here to try a new place for my mom’s birthday. They ordered a boat, I got a few rolls, and my brothers ordered the beef terriyaki and a dinner box. The food overall wasn’t bad. Wasn’t spectacular, but not bad at all. It seemed like a slow night, but maybe because it was a Thurs? It’s not the first place I’d go, but I wouldn’t mind coming back.

I came in for dining for the lunch AYCE which is $ 14 a head. I have been avoiding AYCE for a year. This place seem to be new since the last time I was in this area, i I thought I give it a try. It was a Wednesday noon with just one customer when I walked in. Very dark with limited lighting. You have to ask for the AYCE menu, I was disappointed with I saw the list. There are a few appetizers and the common rolls. I liked their shrimp tempera and scallion pancake and eel. The sushi rolls are just the usual taste. It seem that this store has a major take-out business because they were packing up the orders and delivering them in between my orders. They are a bit slow because there is only one sushi chef. Just not feeling this place…
