I don’t know why they closed. My wife and I enjoyed it. The barkeep was a true Yank, and was a great conversation. We went for oysters happy hour, had my wife’s birthday party in the outdoor patio. The place was cute and minimally decorated. But so was the menu. They could’ve changed a few item over time. I think the lack of hard alcohol hurt their revenues. After a draft or two, real men(and women) like to graduate to something stronger– especially during winter.

It was a nice spot but nothing outstanding. I had a few types of oysters which were good but a few were not shucked well. The mac and cheese was delicious but overall an ok time.

I don’t understand why this place is always empty when I go there. I’ve been for $ 1 oysters at happy hour and on random Saturday nights. The most I’ve ever seen is three tables with people. It’s a shame because it’s a cute place with delicious oysters.

King’s Clam Bar, I said I’d be back for ya! After a short first visit, we came back again to try the full menu and it totally exceed expectations. I heart this restaurant: the charming, welcoming vibe, fresh as f!@k seafood, and the great service. It’s an «only in Brooklyn» kind of joint. But onto the food! This time, we tried the steamed mussels which came with this incredible creamy broth. We kept asking the waiter for bread so we could dip it in the broth. We also had a large order of the lobster mac n’ cheese, steamed clams, and some more dollar oysters. Everything was sooo good, but the clams deserve a shout out. This place is everything.

We came in on a Saturday evening at 5:30. We were the only patrons. Service is good and worthy of three stars, but I have to rate based on overall experience but mainly the food. I ordered the lobster mac and cheese, which was served lukewarm. There’s tiny bits of lobster in every bite, but it doesn’t come together very well. The fish taco is very flavorful, filled with red cabbage, onion, tomato, and cilantro, but the tortilla was oily, and definitely not necessary for it to be so. I’m not crazy about the décor. The sea shabby chic design make the place look dirty in a place that may actually be clean.

My boyfriend like the wasabi scallop but I think it was ok. It’s a cozy, friendly bar and I like the drinks there too.

I am hesitant to rate this place since it might lead to a flood of clam-hungry people taking my seat at the bar, but here are my five stars. This place is an absolute gem. Their raw bar selections are always impeccable, their mac and cheese is by far the best in New York City and their bartenders are some of the most lovely and entertaining people you’ll ever meet.

The most colorful and amusing of employees, the most dedicated shuckers, and taffy at the end of a sea-feast? Can’t be beat. This is the kind of clam bar you can visit and truly feel proud when the server congratulates you on what a good job you’ve done consuming the deliciousness. Thanks to King, raw clams have usurped standard oyster fare as my favored half-shell; perhaps they could do the same for you! And lest you be confused, dear diner, the smoking herb from the kitchen is not in fact sage; I’ll leave it to you to discover the truth. Without a doubt, these folks have finest mac and cheese ever tasted by(wo)(trans)man — perfectly crispy breadcrumby awesomeness atop a lobster-filled fontina cheese casserole of pure orgasm. It’s certainly not to be missed. In closing, five stars, 9⁄11 was an inside job, Ron Paul forever, patronize your local establishments.

Awesome little joint on Washington a couple blocks south of Atlantic. I’ve come here a couple times, both to enjoy the oysters, which, if you sit at the bar, are shucked right in front of you. And if you come during happy hour, the oysters(and clams, I hear) are only a dolla! Beers are best purchased here during happy hour as well, otherwise you’re going to pay the standard seven bucks for your pint of Lagunitas IPA(which, might I add, I am wholly thankful that they serve). They have all sorts of seafood here: lobster rolls, mussels, oysters, clams, etc. There is a patio out back. If you don’t love seafood, they serve sausages like kielbasa, which is awesome. I’ve had the kielbasa and the mussels, and they are both very good. Check out King’s Clam Bar. I’m sure they’d love your business. The people who work here are super friendly as well. If they ever get a bigger kitchen and are able to serve some fries or something, I think I’d easily bump them up a star.

In the mood for seafood, my fiancé and I traveled to Prospect Heights to try this cute little place which has an awesome staff and awesome backyard seating. It was easy to grab one of those outdoor tables around 8 on a Saturday, and we enjoyed MOST of the menu(it’s not terribly long). They have a myriad of drink and food specials, most of which we didn’t opt for but we went with the tried and true: –Started off with oyster shooters, which were meaty blue points and briny soju/blood mary shot with a mug of beer– which, I forget. I love oysters so this was a neat experience. — Oysters rockafeller which were a bit untraditional: steamed oysters with charred Spinach and cheese atop, not as decadent as others I’ve had, just ok. Worth passing. –Steamed mussels which were HANDSDOWN a must try– best mussels I’ve ever had. They were meaty and a great portion size but clearly the best part was the delicious cream sauce; cream with black garlic(fermented), rosemary — very very delicious with the warm toasty bread they give you –We then had the awesome steamed fluke which was so light and refreshing with simple lemon, salt and pepper. It came with a tartar sauce — our server suggested the jalapeño, which was just ok. Not too spicy, tasted standard, and a side of the fontina mac and cheese which was SO delicious. It was spot on with the cheese, and breadcrumbs. You can get this as a meal and top off with bacon or lobster. — We then had the wasabi crusted scallops which were well seared– not over cooked and very plump. I enjoyed the crusty topping but it didn’t taste like wasabi much. This was good but not of the best things we’ve tried. I would say among our favorites were the mussels and the fluke. The Mr. had a bunch of beers and I had a glass of Gruner which i normally love but they one they carried was too sweet and blah. They gave us some caramel salt water taffy to end the night. All around, good food, cute place and friendly environment. Would recommend for couples or groups and feel it is a hidden gem in the area. $ 100 for 2 but then again we ordered practically everything and the food is really affordable actually for the quality.

I’m a cynic. I rarely give 5 * reviews. It’s simple. Great prices, incredible food, excellent service. I had the baked clams and the mussels with burnt Rosemary, black garlic and double cream. My wife had the catfish tacos special. The white wine was also incredible and well-priced. Don’t miss this place. J

Dollar oysters are a dollar here because they taste like warm milk. The runner ran into a thorn bush that grows on the wall in the back as he delivered our oysters and it caused another thorn branch to hit me in the face. I suggested he have someone trim the bush and he said, «you had a choice,» which I guess meant, I could choose where to sit? 1) That seat was the only one left in the place and 2) what a dick thing to say to a customer you just hit in the face with thorns. Never returning.

I came here one afternoon on a whim, after sailing on the Hudson and feeling sea-salty. The oyster shooter, beer and amazing clam chowder were a delicious way to end a fabulous day. The bartender and owner are super friendly and knowledgeable and it feels like real local place, not some pretentious Manhattan wannabe. Head here from the C Train after surfing all day at Rockaway, or before playing with the boats in your bath tub(I won’t tell) and you will have a beachy time. Oh, and check out the awesome backyard before the mosquitos arrive. Sea shanties optional.

The good Neighborhood seafood shack with little garden out back. Friendly attentive service. Happy hour every weekday and weekend with $ 1 oysters and $ 5 house wine and all beers. Oysters fresh and tasty and served with a few off the beaten path sauces. The bad Overall price point for food and wine(aside from happy hour deal) is way off. Wine selection minimal and not very good. Larger beer selection but I for one love some great white wine with my seafood. Overall might give them a chance to try their Lobster roll as the owner claims to be a true New Englander. As a girl from the Boston area I know my lobster rolls and I have yet to find one in NY which even comes close to those from Boston or of course the benchmark Maine. But their oyster happy hour while a good value just made me miss dearly departed Cornelius.

Have been here twice now with a good buddy of mine — LOVELY. Don’t be deterred by the lack of patrons, if that happens to be the case when you walk by. It’s in a slightly less busy/happening part of Crown Heights is all. Lord knows that that will probably change in a matter of weeks — so grab a seat here while you can. Had the fish taco special tonight — delicious! I ate it in three minutes flat. Came with velvety avocado cream, fennel and tomato salsa, and the most delicately fried fish I’ve had in ages. A +. Also had the $ 1 oysters, which are available during happy hour(which ends at 7 if I’m not mistaken). They were salty, briny perfection — Bluepoints expertly hand-shucked by Chris, bartender extraordinaire. Also had a very tasty white wine blend, which was on tap(great happy hour pricing for this as well!). In summary — cute décor, wonderful vibe, delicious food, great wine, and STELLAR service. Now, come on, picky people of Brooklyn. You know it’s not often that all of these boxes get checked off for one place. Get in before the masses take it over!

Happy hour dollar oysters… YES please. Sit in the backyard, order some oysters and drink some wine… you leave happy and frisky. The waiter Chris was wonderful and the place just had a simple new england charm.

My friend was craving a lobster roll and we were excited to find there was a place in our area that offered them. That was the end of our excitement. On a beautiful spring day, in a high traffic highly populated area, we should have taken it as a hint from this place being empty what to expect, but our hunger distracted us. Nothing we ordered at king’s clam bar had any seasoning or flavor. Our shrimp cocktail arrived with a side of hair. First clue. My garlic shrimp was bland and uneatable same for the lobster roll my friend spent the day craving. Our waitress raved about how our mac and cheese and potato salad were their best sellers and if that’s the case than I feel sorry for this place and its patrons. What bothered me the most, our waitress saw we were visibly unhappy with our meal, my friend had eaten only half of her lobster roll and I had eaten only ONESHRIMP from my entire entrée, yet she did nothing to help our experience by offering other items as a replacement or the common decency of removing the items from our bill or at least discounting it. I normally don’t leave reviews but this place left a very bad taste in my mouth both literally and figuratively and I felt I had to share. I spent $ 70 here to immediately after have to go somewhere else to eat a satisfactory meal. Shame.

King’s Clam Bar: Seafood meets beer connoisseur meets bistro. This small locale serves up delicious and fresh meals on a short menu of dishes they stand strongly by. The staff are very Brooklyn, at points bro, sassy, and stylish, yet still friendly and happy to answer questions. The price point is great. The location is a chill environment for laid back drinks, but not nice enough for a first date. You come here to chill and enjoy, not to be seen. My group of four sat at a high top near the kitchen. All together, there are about eight seats at the bar, two two-tops, and maybe 20 more seats at tables in the back. The front bar has the most personality, with big windows to people watch, a large chalkboard of specials, and the bartender to keep company. We ordered the following to share among four people: Oysters on the half shell(8) Large bowl of clam chowder Wasabi crusted baked scallops Fish of the day: pollack with the charred jalapeño tartar sauce Bacon Brussel sprouts(2 orders) The oysters were fresh, briny, chilled, and tasty. Each was a good size for the variety(Blue Point and one other I can’t recall). The wasabi scallops were definitely a winner. While not very spicy, the scallops were a good size and very fresh. The crunchy breadcrumb coating and the just-cooked through texture juxtaposition were perfect and I really wish we got more scallops! The clam chowder had a good amount of clam to bacon to potato ratio and runs thin and broth-like. The pollack was super fresh, flaky, and dense. And the brussel sprouts were large, generously coated in bacon fat, and a good way to get our greens in. King’s is still relatively new to the neighborhood. I hope they’ll add some outdoor sidewalk seating in the summer! I can imagine this place becoming very popular for after work drinks and nibbles — but hopefully that means there won’t be long waits!
