Reluctantly give 4 stars because the food is good but simple way too expensive for the area and the dish. Whole Chicken for two — if I remember correctly, it was $ 38. It was delicious and super simple, hence why it shouldn’t cost $ 38. I am confident many of us could make a chicken just as good if not better. Chickpea fries — super tasty and well executed. Light, crunchy, and dipping sauce was perfectly creamy and tangy Fried potatoes — tender, salty goodness, and crunchy to the last bite Mussels — tangy broth with lots of herbs and really crusty bread. Awesome appetizer Cocktails were interesting and of the trendy sort, but pricey. Again — I ain’t mad at the food. It met all expectations. But I find it hard to justify the cost for many of the dishes. I guess we can blame it on the rent

KenScale: 8.0÷10 I love to go to Brooklyn every once in a while, but the Bushwick neighborhood has been a little too far for me. That doesn’t mean that I would not try to visit any promising restaurant that I could probably have a hard time finding in Manhattan. When I heard that a mother-daughter team(chef Catherine Allswang, who previously cooked in San Francisco and Paris, is running the kitchen while her daughter Rachel, who studied interior design, is managing the restaurant) opened a nice, cozy French restaurant in Bushwick, I thought this place could have a really strong neighborhood gem potential. It took me and my dining companion 30 minutes on a Über ride to get to this place on a Sunday evening, and overall I had a lot to like about my dining experience at Le Garage. The somewhat concise menu at Le Garage can be characterized as a modern take on French food. You see all sorts of reference to French classics, but there are unexpected twists along the way. I didn’t expect to see smoked haddock being used for rillette, but combined with the lemon confit, green apples and trout it was a delightful appetizer. Leeks vinaigrette with mimosa and fried capers was another delicious starter, with the absolutely fresh leeks working beautifully in my mouth for a refreshing sensation. I had high expectations for organic chicken for two with lemongrass sweet potato purée(large chicken dishes are all the rage in the city these days, and at $ 35, the one at Le Garage is probably the most affordable one you can get), and while the meat was moist I felt the texture was not tender enough and the overall flavor was also not as memorable as I had hoped. On the other hand, I was a huge fan of pan-seared porgy that came with almond lemon relish, cherry tomato confiture and hand-mashed potatoes. Not only was the fish more or less perfectly cooked, but the way it interacted with the tomato confiture was a revelation, and I really wished the portion were slightly bigger since I finished half of the dish in like 30 seconds. Definitely one of the better seafood entrée dishes I’ve had recently. For dessert, we got lemon mille-feuille with almonds; I was looking for decadent, classic mille-feuille but it wasn’t quite what I had expected in term of flavor. Getting a reservation at the restaurant doesn’t seem too hard, although the restaurant was nearly packed(mostly with local Brooklynites) in the course of our meal. I absolutely loved the décor of the dining space(I can tell that it is owned by someone who studied interior design), with yellow wall and the kitchen behind that you can take a peek at and overall an inviting atmosphere that would make this place truly a neighborhood restaurant(an overused terminology). There is full bar with cocktails named after French ladies and concise French-centric wine list. Le Garage is the type of restaurant I would love to have in my neighborhood. In terms of the overall atmosphere and the delightful French food coming from the kitchen, this is really a good place to visit if you live nearby or have a chance to visit Bushwick.

Stopped here with a friend for a late dinner recently. We limited our meal to 2 entrees, a shared dessert and a bottle of wine. The ambience was stylishly smart, befitting its Bushwick location. We ordered: Roasted duck breast, kumquat chutney, sesame braised cabbage, honey Hanger steak à la plancha, sautéed potatoes in duck fat, béarnaise «Chardon», chocolate cake, crème fraiche The food was very tasty, exhibiting a mastery of authentic French cooking in the kitchen. Meats were tender and sauces had robust flavors without being overwhelming. The accompanying vegetables were also nicely prepared and complemented the meats. The service was friendly and accommodating. When we tasted the wine we ordered and found it unexciting, they allowed us to make another selection, recommended by our server, which proved to be much to our liking. It’s a little pricey for a neighborhood place, but good French food always is. The food compares favorably with some of Manhattan’s better known French restaurants and compared to those, the prices here are quite reasonable.

I don’t get to go here as often as I would like as I work nights and they are not open late. However, the times I have been have always been a treat. The bartender Zach takes great care of you and is very helpful in selecting food and beverage items to curate the perfect experience. GETTHECHOCOLATECAKE. It is the owners aunts recipe from France and it is so good.

I just want to say, this place is AMAZINGOMG! the bernaise sauce is unbelievable! I had the duck and it was perfectly cooked, I was able to feel all the flavors in my mouth which for me only a truly French restaurant is able to offer! The service is great, the server recommended us a red wine that paired perfectly with our entrees! We are definitely coming back to this place if you want truly french food just visit this spot you will LOVE it!

Was here for dinner, and it was great. Tried the hanger steak, the fish of the day(sea bass), and the chocolate cake. Everything was great. Note this is a legit french restaurant, so delicious food, kgs of butter on everything and small portions. Still worth it. Cocktails have pretentious silly names, but are still great.

Have been here for dinner and brunch. For dinner, the fried carrots are the right amount of everything you want in a bite: veggie, crispy, well seasoned, lovely dipping sauce. My boyfriend and I split half of everything and while we loved them all– the pork– my god the pork! Everything, everything, everything — the pork was everything. As for Brunch– disappointed they don’t have fresh oj for mimosas. The french toast was the best understated deliciousness. Treat yourself or split it. And they’re french pressing coffee, there was a tiny mix up in which we thought we were getting tableside french presses, but it seems they’re prepared away from the table at $ 3 for a 10oz with no refill. Eeep! We are however going back today, so just treat yourself to a much needed new place to eat in Bushwick.

Recently open in Bushwick, here is an amazing French restaurant. With a very cosy ambiance(the place was designed by the owner, an ex interior architect), we will feel home. The sunny colors all around makes it comforting and shiny. But let’s talk about food. We start with the fried panisse. A beautiful fried chickpeas flower coming with a stunning tarragon sauce. A good start We decided to try the hanger steak and as we expected it was a real pleasure. I do love the places that respect the cook way you ask. I do love my meat blue and it came perfectly blue. The sautéed potato in duck fat coming with the meat are delicious. Not fat, not too oily, just as crispy as it as to be. You are automatically teleported to the south of France. And the best was about to come… The dessert. We experienced what you can call a culinary orgasm. A «chardon» chocolate cake. Crispy on the top, melted in the middle. I try not to salivate on my phone while I’m writing but it’s getting complicated thinking of the other incredible dessert we took. The lemon Mille-feuilles. An double almond crust covering a lemon cream. Sooo refreshing. I definitely recommend this French restaurant. I can’t wait to come back to try their famous roasted duck breast or just the whole chicken for two. I’m addicted

Pretty roomy space. Unfortunately, I didn’t love the food too much. I had the steak and it wasn’t anything that make me want to go back to. Maybe it is me! I can tell you the cook was French. I also saw a french girl eating there with her french friends(she works in a french Deli near my work, I know I am creepy).

i don’t have any g.d. money but my boy and i were celebrating a special occasion so i crammed my titties into a nice dress for some expensive french food in the heart of bushwick started with the potatoes in duck fat, they were p choice but like. $ 7 i had a tasty and fairly hearty asparagus risotto and look i don’t wanna be This Guy but most of my asparagus was not chopped through(there were knife marks but it was all still, you know, one stalk) and that’s the sort of nitpicky shit you start to notice when yr entrée costs over $ 15 my boy got the dorade and it was beautiful, an extremely instagrammable entrée, and he said it was delicious but again… tiny chocolate cake was nice server was attentive, quick, pleasant every single aspect of this meal would have thrilled me if the individual items on it were either $ 3-$ 4 less expensive or about 20% larger in size or, maybe, if i myself were about 30 pounds lighter and needed less food to run my engine i understand these places and i appreciate them and i gave em 4 stars bc everything was tasty and i recognize that my broke ass is not the kind of ass they’re trying to get into their seats so idk caveat emptor i guess

Four and a half stars, really. Only because I’m a tough grader and save my fifth star for those once in a lifetime type places. Finally made it to Le Garage for a fantastic brunch. Lovely attentive service along with great food. Recommend the panisse, duck fat potatoes, croque madame and eggs with mushrooms. It was a beautiful Sunday, the doors were open and we dined with sun and a breeze. The yellow walls provided a summery feel. Can’t wait to go back for dinner.

I had a lovely dinner here with my family last night! The service was attentive, the space was beautiful, and everyone loved their food! Some favorites at my table were the Mussels(in very tasty sauce), Risotto(with perfectly cooked vegetables), and steak entrée. I also had the Madame Bovary cocktail which was a unique and flavorful blend of gin and lavender.

This is a fancy new restaurant in Bushwick that exemplifies gentrification. As I was standing outside smoking, a hood regular shook his head and practically spit on me in disgust of me being part of this scene. And I kinda get him. I love french food and was really excited to try this place. I was all in on paying $ 27.00 for an entrée.(which is weird for me, but yeah…) I got the hanger steak. I expected it to be the best thing I had ever tasted. Sadly, it wasn’t. I ended up with about eight glorious looking steak bites, a small pile of diced potatoes, and a few sprigs of spinach. It looked beautiful. But the taste… I really could have made it better at home. It needed a bit more salt, and they are one of those places that don’t put salt on the table. There was an odd aftertaste, which I guess might be the oil they used, which I noticed in both the meat and the potatoes. I felt like the meat was of good quality, but would be better served if I took it home and«doctored it up» — either making a steak sandwich, or eating it with tomatoes, or something… it was just disappointing as served. I expected to be kinda wowed by my $ 27 plate, and instead was dreaming about how I could transform the leftovers into something much better. I mean, it’s pretty bad if you are actually trying to eat a bit less of your entrée so that you will have enough of it left over to take home to make an even better meal.,. That should really be the opposite of what you want. Vegetarian friends liked the risotto. It was also really weird to see these people(the people eating there) in Bushwick. I don’t think they live here, but maybe they do now. It’s a different era. Food was okay, but I won’t be back. I dropped around $ 80.00(whatever, I like wine.) there and could have made better food at home and probably had a much more meaningful experience had I done so.

We wanted to wait until we had been to Le Garage twice before reviewing the place, so here goes: Me: Tonight, we had the Dorade(sea bass) with crispy skin on a bed of bright and somehow savory sweet potato. It was cooked perfectly, and all of the vibrant flavors could be tasted independently– but they harmonized well too. And topped with some grilled, very green asparagus.(kick ass) My husband: The haddock rillettes appetizer was outstanding and delicious. The pork cheeks entrée, with turnips and grapefruit, was earthy, tender, and flavorful. Oh yes! we also had the sweet little radish with butter appetizer(so French!!) which was seasoned with toasted celery seed? and salt. Simple and perfect. – and the roasted potatoes with herbed butter.(wow– could not help ourselves) Both entrees were the perfect amount of food; not too overwhelming, but not at all skimpy. On a previous visit, we enjoyed a juicy and crispy skinned roasted chicken.(but this one was truly something, perhaps the best restaurant roasted chicken we have had) The dessert: A lemony mille-feuille that was refreshingly not-too-sweet! The pastry was crisped with almond slivers.(could have had a few of these, but kept it real) The chocolate cake, which is apparently a family recipe, we were told was like the platonic ideal of a brownie(but fancier, obviously) and came with a kind of tangy maybe crème fraîche? Also, refreshingly light on the sweet to emphasize the chocolatiness of the chocolate. Look, the food is great. It isn’t fussy pants, it is just elegant and personal– like you are at a good friend’s home for dinner. It isn’t restaurant-y– and that is what is so special about it. It isn’t served restaurant-y either. I really felt like we were at a good friend’s place for dinner. …a good friend with excellent taste in décor and music, that is. We heard: the Zombies, James Brown, Fela Kuti, Gainsbourg, the Beach Boys!!(the good era), and several other selections(some non-cheesy folk violin stuff) all at a volume that allowed for enjoyment and comfortable conversation. The décor is beautiful and somehow very Brooklyn without being a hipster maker montage(THANKYOU!!! SENDYOURFRIENDS. We have an emergency of hipster décor in Bushwick!!!) If you need a place to take a date for dinner, he or she will think of your choice of Le Garage as classy, understated, elegant, and in-the-know.(and they will wonder how you found such an un-snotty, true blue, place to have a meal and a cocktail.) We didn’t have any cocktails tonight, but they looked pretty special from afar.

Tasteful French food with the Parisian ambience nestled off the M train Central Ave station in Bushwick. What makes Le Garage unique is a menu unlike any in NY that feels tailored and custom to your personal taste buds. And adding on to the cozy appeal is the familial touch given to each dish. A necessary stop when in Brooklyn or from anywhere in NYC for that matter.

Wow — I really loved Le Garage. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. I love«non-snooty» French food and I have to say everything here was pretty spectacular. There were some very different offerings, for example the smoked trout rillettes and the pork cheek entrée. Drinks were very good and there is a nice wine list with a good selection of wines by the glass. I would be delighted to give Le Garage 5 stars, but I thought the fois gras«salad» was pretty over-priced for the portion size(two small toasts with fois pâté) and based on the menu description, I was expecting the actual liver and not pâté; and my hanger steak was cooked to medium/medium well instead of mid-rare as ordered. This is a place I want to come back to so I can try some of the other menu options.

Take the M to Central Ave. in the Bushwick nabe of «carajo» land and score some fine French food and feeling. I went on a seriously crappy night and had a great time with fab food and friendly folk. The space is open and light in a former garage off Central. They really cater to their customers here and each dish was made expertly to order by the mother in the mother-daughter team Ate: Watercress soup Cod with butter/ginger sauce & brussel sprouts Potatoes with bernaise sauce Chardon with crème anglais Pineapples with ginger and lime Warm bread from Balthazar with butter started the service. The soup had texture and the housemate croutons added crunchiness. Warm and unusual– watercress is not your typical soup, but I loved it. The sauce on the cod also super clever with the faint ginger flavor which was so delicate and delish. Love the potatoes cooked in duck fat natch. The chardon like a dense brownie is a family recipe and very homespun tasting. The frutta fresca really balanced the dessert and the meal which was very French(small portions people) and very fine indeed.

I had such a lovely evening here the other night. It happened to be Valentines day and the company(my lover) was fantastic but that’s not the only reason why I enjoyed my time here so much. The atmosphere, service and food were also pretty, pretty, prettyyy good. When I called in to confirm my reservation they didn’t have it but told me not to worry, they’d take care of it. And they did. When I arrived, they had a table for me in the corner, which is actually my preference. The décor is modern and bright due to the yellow paint but it somehow managed to have a warm, romantic vibe thanks to the mood lighting and candles. I’m looking forward to coming back for a brunch because they added a beautiful skylight when renovating the old garage that I imagine will bring a ton of natural light into the place. There’s something about being served in an ethnic restaurant by a waiter of the same ethnicity that just makes the experience more authentic. Our server was French which somehow made the food taste a little bit better. We started with a tuna tartare off the specials menu which was a perfect start to the meal. It was very simply dressed which is the way to go when you know you’re working with fresh ingredients. Let the fish speak for itself and that’s exactly what they did here. Next we had the potatoes with snails which is something I’ve never seen before. Is this a traditional French dish or an invention of the chef? Whatever the origin, it was very different and tasty. I was most impressed by my entrée which also happened to be on the specials for the night. It was a pork cheek dish over a rutabaga purée which took on the consistency of potatoes but less starchy. The pork cheeks were so tender that I barely had to chew them. Very reminiscent of a short rib. There was a sweet sauce which tied everything together wonderfully. My wife had the risotto which was also fantastic. We were very impressed with our whole experience at Le Garage, from start to finish. We will definitely be back.

Didn’t have the best experience here. Trout mousse like appetizer was delicious although they could have added some additional bread for it. On to the entrees; my bf had the steak which was cooked perfectly and was delicious but it was served with a very sad undressed side of salad. My sister had the pork which was really great, definitely recommend it. Sadly for me, the mussels I ordered were not good, they were gummy and under cooked, curiously enough, I’ve had the same issue every time I’ve ordered mussels at Mominette. We also tried the risotto, which I would suggest they should take off the menu, really bland, did not taste truffle oil at all, at the presentation is just bad(neon green!!). I would honestly give them another shot because they are new and service was excellent, everyone was extremely helpful and accommodating and I can tell the flavors are there they just to polish some stuff up.

I love the interior of Le Garage and the service was fantastic, but The food is mediocre at best, nothing special about it. With so many fantastic restaurants in Brooklyn why bother going to a restaurant which serves old fashioned underwhelming food with uninspiring presentation. I certainly would not stick to Mominette because the food there is inedible.

The food is delicious, but the portions were a bit small. The owner is very sweet and attentive. When I was in there with my date, she kept the kitchen open for us when we arrived close to closing. The service was excellent. It’s just a bit pricey for what you receive. When I go out to eat in Bushwick I’m not expecting to pay Manhattan prices for small portions. Hopefully brunch will be cheaper.

A wonderful new French restaurant in hipster Bushwick, Brooklyn. Heard about this from a friend’s recommendation and so glad to have made the trip from the Upper East Side(it’s so easy via subway!)…we didn’t have a reservation, but was able to sit at the bar which was so comfortable and ambient. We met the owner/chef who is from Paris and her daughter Rachel– very warm people. a must-try for excellent wine and authentic French food without the Manhattan prices. I’ll definitely come back again.

Stopped in last night for a nightcap! Kinda of wished I hadn’t eaten before! The food looked amazing! The gentleman next to me had the Mackerel and damn it looked good! I had the Mezcal cocktail and the smokey flavor played into the apothecary concoction! Our bartender John is a true scientist! Since I had already eaten but couldn’t resist… hahaha…I had try some dessert! I ordered the pineapple! OMG so YUMMY! Fresh pineapple with gingered simple syrup, lime juice and zest! Who know that such few ingredients could come together with such flare! The place is BEAUTIFUL! I can’t wait to go there for dinner! Big THANKYOU to Catherine and Rachel! You ladies ROCK!

Great food at a great price French cuisine perhaps one of the toughest to master is being made better at this restaurant. Le garage is just a diamond in the rough that just recently opened. The selection of cocktails was exquisite and the food paired perfectly. The ambiance was great as the host always checked in and made us feel welcomed. The small plates and the entrée size plates were phenomenal the potatoes cooked in duck fat are delicious I love it!!! Hurry and try it now before it gets too packed.
