Longbow has everything you want in a neighborhood pub: good food(grilled cheese! savory pies! desserts!), a waitress who will remember your face every time, many kinds of booze(duh), and fun events. They host a weekly trivia on Tuesdays where the prize is your team’s WHOLEBARTAB.

Great brunch spot! Food is always good! Expect to listen to all the football games(soccer). But so worth it!

The more things change the more they stay the same. That couldn’t be more true than at this place. What’s changed: the staff. Thank God. I’ve been avoiding this place on a Monday because of the dude who was working. He must have been a relative of the owners or a pity case or something because he was truly the worst bartender ever. He was always yammering on and on and was arrogant and rude. What else has changed: the steak and ale pie. When I saw that guy wasn’t working tonight I popped in and got one with a pint. The filling seemed richer, the crust flakier. It was a good pie and now it’s better. What hasn’t changed: the cozy atmosphere and great beer selection. Always something new on tap every time I come in. This place has been around a while and I hope it will stay around for a while more! And if that guy wants his job back, owners I beg you, please say no.

Food is good. Great beer list & great cocktails. Servers are always friendly without being overbearing. I’ve had 2 issues here though. Awhile back we went for dinner on a weeknight. It was empty & we were having a nice quiet conversation. Out of nowhere the place started to get packed. There was only the 1 server/bartender on duty. We found out that it was the Bay Ridge Democratic club who came to watch the State of the Union Address. I told the group that they should have called ahead so the place could have been staffed properly — they told me they spoke to the owner. I assumed it was a fluke. I was there the other day and got to witness what someone else mentioned — the owner/manager screamed at the bartender in front of all the customers. Extremely unprofessional! I will never set foot in there again if this is how they treat people.

I’ve been coming to LongBow for quite sometime now, it’s the kinda place you can really settle in and feel comfortable and not a lot of pubs give you that type of relaxation. The people are always respectful the noise is never too loud and the food has always been kickass. Not to mention you can actually enjoy a couples night out if you’re new to the area, you can also catch some soccer games if you’re not always looking for the NFL. Overall great place to catch a bite or grab a drink this is the spot!

I was super disappointed when I went to Longbow for the first time. I was excited to try an English pub, as it was my first time going to one. The atmosphere lived up to my expectations — lots of football(soccer) paraphernalia, tv’s tuned to the game, a little bit cramped for space with the number of tables there, but not bad. What was disappointing, you ask? Well, the bartender, honestly. I was expecting an ill-tempered British gent, one who would rudely ask what I wanted with a suspicious gleam in his eye. What I got instead was a very sweet man, who had a lovely lilting accent who was super attentive, asking if I needed anything every 5 or 10 minutes, making sure everything was good for me. I was also disappointed with the food. I ordered the fish and chips, assuming that they would taste a little off, maybe be a little soggy and definitely(according to some of the other reviews on here) would be less than generous portions. Imagine my dismay when my platter was served with four large pieces of fish(obviously very fresh) beautifully fried to a golden brown and served steaming hot and my fries were wonderful! The tartar sauce was even very good. I wanted to have a so-so experience here so that my review would be in-line with what I read here, but it was a great place to eat, unfortunately, and I guess I’ll have to go back.

Atmosphere: Typical sports bar. Nice sized screen in the back of the bar to watch the poor mets lose the world series. Drinks: I just had wine, but my friend had a snakebite and absolutely loved it. Service: Was just OK. A bit short with me at first but then got better towards the end of the night.

Longbow is a great bar, with plenty of tvs for sports. Cool bartenders(bring back Jamie!) and a chill vibe. It doesnt get crazy in here like a couple other bars down 3rd ave. Which is honestly a good thing. You can come in here order a drink and chill out just fine. The food is very uptop for a bar. I love the burgers an potpies here. And you can easily tell they put in a lot of effort into their cooking. Also never felt like the drinks were watered down here, as other places you can easily tell. Good spot, used to be my go to spot every other day when Jamie was there. We would get pretty tipsy on a $ 40 bill but obliviously over tip like 100% and come back again and again.

Went to Longbow on a Friday night with my girlfriend. I started with the oyster chowder with bacon. It was excellent. Great flavor, wish I got the bowl. The fish and chips were also very good. Wish the pieces of cod were a little bigger. Will be going here again soon.

Great local British pub with yummy fish-n-chips. I’ve only recently started to learn+ appreciate the game but this place has every soccer on! NYCFC pub partner so you’ll find fans here. Plus, the people there are friendly enough to answer some of my soccer Qs. They also do brunch and lately it seems they have special burgers. I must remember to ask if they carry stick toffee pudding.

I personally have tried one or two British pub, and this turned out to be my favorite so far! Not only were there soccer games being displayed on large televisions, I fell in love with the atmosphere of the pub itself! Not only were the service absolutely superb, the waiter even stopped to have a chat with me about the Premier League, which I found great and lovely. Customers had a wonderful time up at the bar watching League Cup games and Champions League qualifications; definitely recommending to friends. As for food, I did not have any complaints and took my sweet time digging in. The fish and chips were superb, and the cheeseburger was great! Coming back soon to try other things on the menu!

This place is my absolute favorite in Bay Ridge to enjoy an ice cold beer and watch the soccer game. As a NYCFC fan, I try and come down to watch as much as I can as they’re the only bar in the area to broadcast every game with sound. There’s usually a nice-sized group of supporters as well for each game to talk soccer with as well, which is an added bonus. Jennifer, one of the bar owners, is an absolute sweetheart. Make sure to drop by if you’re ever in the area. Oh and if you’re hungry, make sure to order their chips«fries». Some of the best I’ve ever had.

Great little british pub with some good food. Staff was friendly, beer was cold and crisp, and food was delicious. We had the fish and chips and a steak and ale pie. Fish was well fried with a light crispy batter, chips were thick cut, and pie was flavorful with steak, peas, and carrots. We ordered a small side of the curry sauce to dip the chips in and it was great! Only downside was that is was a little bit pricey(13.5 for the fish and chips, 7 for the pie) and service was a little bit slow but otherwise, I’d say it’s definitely worth coming back for round 2!

This was a new cuisine for me. Never thought there was a British pub in Brooklyn yet alone British food. The food was pretty good. I shared a scotch egg and it was interesting. It was basically an egg wrapped around a layer of meat along with some salad. My friend had the steak and ale pie which I liked more. You can definitely taste the booze. I had the Shepard pie which wasn’t bad since it was my first time trying but it wasn’t that good for me to try a second time. If your not a fan of lamb you should let the waiter know to substitute for beef. The service was slow. I was waiting for a table and no one came to bring me to one. I practically almost had to walk to a table myself until I stopped a waitress and asked her if there was a table ready to be seated.

Food was very good. Just wished I had more! I tried the fish and chips and the homemade tarter sauce was delicious. Also had some welsh rarebit, a bit zingy from the traditional but very good. Staff was a very nice and attentive. Lots of soccer fans in this place as well. Will return for sure.

Basic British pub tucked away in Bay Ridge, during afternoon hours, service can be a little more low key since there’s no servers. The bartender works as a server before drinking hour. Their scotch eggs were kind of disappointing, they were cold and there was barely any flavor. The salad it came with had vinaigrette at the bottom so I recommend mixing it before you eat it. The steak and ale pie had more flavor compared to the scotch eggs. The pie was the size of a personal pie, not too filling but enough to be shared between 2 people. Overall, food isn’t too shabby, prices aren’t bad but don’t expect the food to blow you away.

Ok, so first of all… I should mention I am British. So the standard for«classic British meals» are high! And I have to say… There’s not many places that do British food THAT good anymore! Not even in Britain! It was superb! All the staff are British which may explain why this place is so legit! When you walk in, the place is decorated and furnished perfectly like good old fashioned pub restaurants. The bar displaying lots of popular British ales, beers, wines, spirits, sodas, nibbles. Me and my girlfriend, were greeted by a Scottish waiter and lead to a booth at the back of the room where we could look around and take in the pub’s atmosphere. Orders for drinks were taken, it was«Pimms o, clock!» as the Brits say, As my girlfriend had the, oh so stereotypical, Pimms! And I had a pint of strongbow cider. For those who don’t know, Pimms is a gin based liqueur. Sweet. More commonly served in the summer season mixed, with what we call lemonade(Sprite basically), and filled with lots of summer fruits, cucumber and mint. That went down beautifully with my girlfriend. I recommend this drink if you want to steer away from the usual beers and ales. I was happy to see that my strongbow was served in the branded pint glass. And I was eager to finish every drop! ONTOTHEFOOD! Well… Usually, restaurants that claim to be a ‘British’ cuisine… Have menus of stuff that I’ve never heard of and try to be overly fancy. But here… It’s all classic home food that EVERY Brit knows and loves. Even using some British lingo on the menu! We ordered my beloved, bangers and mash, scotch egg for our entrees. I’m a northern boy, and where I’m from, a sandwich is called a «butty». And the most famous butty of all is the chip butty! So seeing that on the menu… I was 14 year old me in my home town again! It’s nothing fancy… Chips… In-between 2 slices of white bread. Simple, but effective. So I ordered that to start us both off. The chips were proper old fashioned chips! The way grandma used to make them! best I’ve had in a long time(even compared to chips in England) golden crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Served on lightly buttered white bread and a side plate of MORECHIPS! And some mayonnaise dip. Yes! Bangers and mash were just perfect. PORK sausages… I didn’t realise how uncommon those were in the states! They were thick, juicy and had that ‘pop’ of the skin when you bite into them. The mash was how mash should be, not too dry and not too moist, creamy. Onion gravy poured over the top with deep fried onions rested on top. Just the right amount of it all too! The scotch eggs. It was strange to me to see scotch eggs as a main dish. As scotch eggs are commonly something kept in the fridge and just picked up to eat when you felt hungry or ‘eat on the go’ type of thing. But to my surprise, they presented it brilliantly! Scotch eggs, are eggs with a thick layer of pork covered in bread crumbs. They are about the size of a baseball and sat on a bed of salad, with fresh cut tomatoes and onion. Me and my girlfriend(who is American) loved it here. We said we’ll go back during the summer and bring friends with us. I’m giving this place 5 stars because it is SO difficult to find a place like this, that serves real British food, to such a standard. Even in England!

Pub. Pub. Pub. Pub. Pub. Oh hey did I mention that this place is a pub in all its pub-like glory? Well it is and I like it! I’ve never come in just to sit at the bar but it looks like everyone has a good time. There always seems to be room to sit and eat which is a plus, especially if I’m on the verge of hangry. Sometimes I get locked into eating the same thing at a restaurant but I really enjoy eating my way through this solid gastropub menu. Whether you’re hankering a burger, steak sandwich or fish and chips you’re sure to be satisfied! I love fries, so much so that I would vote for them to become their own food group, and the fries here are gooooooood. Here’s the downfall. The dining area is loud! Now that’s to be expected but the last time I was there it was so bad I could barely have a conversation with the person sitting across the table. There was a hockey game on and two radio stations playing. I like this place so much I’ll forgive them their trespasses. I also don’t recommend getting takeout. Enjoy the grub in house if you can. It’s best when enjoyed hot and fresh. Yum!

Excellent service, excellent beer list, and excellent English and American food. An all-around winner. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and the boyfriend had the shepherd’s pie. Both were ample portion sizes, so make sure when you’re here, you come hungry! My sandwich was more than just the usual chicken-slab-on-a-bun: thick bread slices slathered with garlic mayo really added a lil’ something extra to the meal. The shepherd’s pie was hot as all get-out whenever it first arrived, which is all well and good until you’re so hungry that you burn a few tastebuds in the process because you can’t wait to eat – patience is not my strong suit. We started off with beers and then switched to grog on a whim. For those who’ve never had it(I hadn’t), grog is a rum and lime concotion originally drunk by pirates to prevent scurvy. Whether that’s true or not, it WAS tasty, and I rested a little easier that night knowing my gums were safe. Service was really great: Our waitress checked on us frequently, kept our water glasses full, and made suggestions for beers when we couldn’t decide. Our food also came out extremely quickly, so kudos to the kitchen on that one.
