Lowlands is a great mellow bar. Nice craft beer selection that hits all the important styles. Board games, haven’t seen it crowded yet, and friendly bartenders. Only thing I’d ask for is more food options. But they allow outside food so it’s hard to criticize them for that.

Went for round two drinks with friends and was very impressed with the selection of craft beers. I’m not a big beer drinker, but I tried a mulberry one(sorry, forgot the actual name) and it had a sweet aftertaste that I really liked. Décor and lighting is very intimate and cozy. Music selection wasn’t too shabby either. Will definitely visit again!

Just moved into the area last month and have been to Lowlands a couple of times. Great neighborhood bar. Nice if you’re looking for a low key place on a weekend(even at night). Beer and wine were reasonably priced. Not a huge selection but we were all able to find something we liked. Will definitely be back.

AHHHH, great friendly… and pet friendly bar! Really laid back service, large space(with outdoor patio in the summertime). The ambiance is typical of what you’d expect from a dive bar, but it makes for a great relaxed atmosphere. Will be back to check out the bites on a nicer spring day with my pup.

Good neighborhood bar. Bartenders were friendly and efficient although granted we were 2 of maybe 12 people in the place on a Friday night. Draft list had a few worthwhile things(Weinhenstephaner, Pumpking) which is more or less a prerequisite in this area of Brooklyn, but as someone who lives in an area where this isn’t the norm, I appreciated it. Other patrons were also friendly as well. Biggest attraction here is the large outdoor patio. My friend was lame so I didn’t get to take advantage of that – granted there were several smokers outside – and was stuck inside. It’s not dirty per se, but not really clean either; sort of dingy looking overall especially with the dim lighting. This place is a good place to grab a drink in the no-man’s-land known as Gowanus but nothing more. Wish I could wax poetically about their board games but there really just isn’t much more to say.

Laid back bar with great service, beer and patio area. The panini’s aren’t bad either! We really enjoyed watching a Thunder game here over our stay.(-: Hope to be back!

The place is too fuckin dark. The music sucks. Otherwise it’s the fucking joint. Super friendly. Super cool crowd.

A local dive bar. One of only a couple within a walking distance from La Quinta Inn nearby. They have great vibe and cool bartenders. When I am in the area again I sure will come back.

Pretty nice backyard with 7 or 8 tables. Otherwise, extremely ordinary neighborhood bar.

A dive bar with an awesome backyard space. Friendly bartenders, rigged panini press for those alcohol-induced carb cravings, dog-friendly, and wooden picnic tables in the back. I came here on a «Summer Friday» so we arrived around 4:00PM. It wasn’t crowded, but it definitely wasn’t dead. The vibe was mellow but the music was fun and quirky. It was a little too dark and loud inside the bar and it was a beautiful afternoon so we sat outside in the backyard at a picnic table and continued to drink wine and beer throughout the evening. I believe the happy hour deal was $ 4 well drinks and $ 5 wines, plus some draft specials. Wine + picnic table + backyard + seamless delivery = perfect Friday afternoon/early evening :)

4.5 stars… This place is pretty amazing. They have one of the most suburban, welcoming large back patios I’ve come across across in awhile, a small selection of board games, and a decent beer list that runs the gammut from $ 3PBR cans to $ 6 – 7 craft brews on tap. They also have a selection of hot pressed sandwiches($ 7) and a soft pretezel option($ 4). Sandwiches are oddly prepared elsewhere and shipped to them every day so I’m not sure how I feel about that but I hear the pretzel is amazing. Service here was great and the whole vibe of the place certainly made me wish I lived closer. I’ll certainly be back in the near future to take advantage of the back yard while the weather is still nice.

My favorite neighborhood bar. The drinks are great, the staff is solid(extra shout out to John and Jake), and the general atmosphere is always just what I’m looking for. Music choices are totally solid and also played at the perfect volume, the backyard is charming, and it’s honestly the best potato salad I’ve ever had… and I don’t even usually like potato salad. Thanks for being rad, Lowlands.

Horrible experience with staff and management here. Lowlands has a nice backyard, but so do a lot of places in that area(South, Quarter, Commonwealth, etc.) This was such a yucky experience that I can’t imagine ever going back. There are too many nice bars in the area to deal with that.

I had a small«prom» at Lowlands last night, and it went great — Amanda especially was a boss, making a playlist and a special cocktail and keeping it organized with the tab.(And letting me off the hook for clean-up. Thanks, lady.) Lowlands’s layout is great, the crowd is always mellow and fun, and everyone there makes a rad Manhattan, but last night, I especially appreciated the lowering of my stress level by the delightful Lowlands staff. Totally recommend the place for a cocktail and/or for having a small party. Lowlands is awesome.

This is a legitimate neighborhood bar. The backyard is sweet! I’m a skip away from this place so it’s fast becoming my go-to spot. It’s just a chilled, laid-back atmosphere where you can catch a good drink and have nice conversation. It’s these simple things in life that make me happy :)

Hit this place back during the rains of Sandy. They were staying open as long as they had power. Super cool and really kind bartender working. She was handling very well the few drunk idiots downing Courvoisier and Redbull(Seriously, who drinks that combo?) Fun little spot around the corner from our apartment. They have sandwiches too.

I enjoyed myself here. The bartender was friendly and helpful with what I chose to drink, and everyone at the bar seemed like cool people. They had a good beer selection, the bar is handsome. I agree with whoever said the barstools are at a perfect height. So often they are not. I didn’t get to indulge in the games or try any food, but this is definitely a place I’d like to come back to, or would recommend to anyone who’s in the area. It’s the type of bar I could see myself hanging out in for a while, just sipping my beer and talking. I don’t often feel like that, so it says something. I could easily see myself bumping it up to 5 stars after coming back often enough to truly be able to give out 5 with confidence.

Great place! Okay, so maybe I’m a little biased because I had a very nice kinda-sorta first date here. Great laid back vibe, nice beer selection(I had Bear Republic Racer IPA and he had Allagash White), but I thought this was a terrific venue. The back garden was open but we sat inside at the bar. Bartenders were friendly, beers were reasonable, the place was clean, the décor is cool… it’s just a great place. Highly recommended.

Pretty sweet neighborhood watering hole. Lowlands has a limited but above par draft list(most are $ 6/pint) and a big patio out back. Two things that make me happy. The vibe in the bar is super laid back, the bartenders are friendly enough, and the crowd is a mix of old and young(but definitely all locals). Oh and if you happen to get a hunger pang, they have a few sandwiches on the menu. All around, Lowlands Bar is likely a place I’d frequent if I was a local as well. A relaxed atmosphere, the ability to enjoy the weather on the back patio, and some pretty solid beers all make it a good call when in this low-key area of South Slope.
