Great middle eastern restaurant in the sheepshead bay/Coney Island area! They serve salads, delicious shish kebabs. The prices have substantially risen since they opened and dinner for two usually runs upwards of 100 $. There are many other restaurants such as this were you can dine for much cheaper. The quality of the food has remained the same atleast.

Just had lunch at the café Nargis, Shurpa and dumplings were great, shish kebab was good, was a bit drafty, staff is friendly and service is quick

I’ve been here twice since moving into the neighborhood. The atmosphere is bustling yet in an elegant and romantic way. As a party of 2 each time we were seated right away. I had the pumpkin samosa, chicken kebab, tomato salad, and crème brûlée for desert. The staff was attentive and timely, my only complaint was when bringing out the wine we ordered one had a straw in it and it was left in the glass. That threw me off a little based on the quality of the restaurant. I foresee another visit considering I can walk there and the atmosphere is so inviting.

Came here with my boyfriend for dinner recently and I decided to write an update since it’s been a few months between my last visit here. When we arrived a Nargis delivery van was pulling out and we wanted to go park his spot then another Nargis van decided go back up and take up 2 parking spots! After half a minute of honking at him he got the message and moved back into his spot so we could go park behind him. I think that this is extremely unprofessional, the don’t own the streets what makes them think that they can take up 2 parking spots? Other people who want to come eat your food would like to park closely especially since it was the coldest day of the year! Once we got inside the girls were extremely friendly and answered any questions we had about the menu. The place here is extremely clean and the girls are always doing something. We had the chicken and lamb adana kebabs with garlic fries to share, we asked them to package them separately but they didn’t remember to do. Luckily my boyfriend and I have no allergies or any type of importation dietary restrictions so we were more annoyed that they didn’t remember but it wasn’t the end of the world for us. The garlic fries could have been crisper and way more dill than garlic on them. Next time I’d definitely ask for crisper fries and ask them for so much dill on them.

I used to go to this café. Almost every week 2 years ago. Recently i placed a order for delivery from narghiz café. The food was unexpected very expensive. When i received the food my wife found some hair and some wierd seed in the soop. I think the food became a lot worth then use to be

This is definitely the best Uzbek restaurant in the area. Their cigar rolls are the best I have ever tried. First of all, they’re large in portion size, and they are cheesy and garlicky. All of their kebabs are delicious; the salmon, chicken, and lula are my favorite. The shepherd’s salad with feta is a must. I’m also a fan of their fries, they top it off with dill and garlic. If you’re deciding on which soup to try here, go for the lagman soup, you won’t be disappointed.

This place is hands down the best. From the food to the service to the décor they have it down packed. You must absolutely try their meats, bread and the tea. Do limit yourself and try to order a little bit of everything as portions here are big and very filling. Uzbek plov and the kebabs are amazing, so is the Samsa. I’ve ordered from here as well as eaten in and its consistently perfect every time. The staff is always around bring food, clearing table and taking care of anything you need. They also have excellent selection of beers.

Fantastic food! I had their pickled vegetables, feta and tomatoes, rice, pumpkin samsa, and various meats. My favorites were the pork and lamb. I left stuffed. Service was fantastic. They were so attentive and knew exactly when to remove plates. If you are in the area I recommend checking it out.

Loving it, and I can’t imagine someone who wouldn’t. From the service through the food to the dessert, I always have good time when I eat at Nargis. It may not be for everybody, since they do have some unique dishes, but if you like this kind of food, you will probably love it here. The food itself isn’t complicated, but they took«simple food, and combined it with Greta service and kind of a fancy place and service(but at the same time not the prices of the fancy restaurants of NYC). Russian ambient, good food, to of the line service. They deserve a perfect review.

Came here last week for the 1st time. My other half told me this place is the best one in the area and… it was… it was so busy! Tue night around 7pm and it was packed with people and everybody seemed to be enjoying their food. We had the pickled hering, a roulade, ox tail with chickpeas… everything was delicious! I like the traditional décor and the service was more than on point! Food came out so quick and it was freshly made, it was amazing!

It has been a while since I visited nargis. The place is bigger, much nicer, and the food is still amazing. Whenever I visit nargis caffe, I know exactly what I’m am ordering, but actually everything they make is just amazing. But, this visit I had 2 things that bothered me: the manti and the chicken kebab weren’t cooked enough, and that’s a shame because they have such a delicious food. The service: maybe the best in Brooklyn. The waitresses are always ready to serve, and they always do it with a smile. The place is clean, extremely professional, and everything went smooth. I am about to leave Brooklyn soon, and I can say that this place is one of the places I will miss.

Delicious dishes 5 stars Soup kharcho, plov, kebabs always fresh Always fingerlicking good Service however was really something that I tried not stress over since the food was so good But one incident was really the last drop This place doesn’t have water!!! Thats what the waiter said to me said they have mineral water for like 5 dollars but no regular water as per their management If I’m dropping close to 200 dollars for food to feed my family least you can do is offer a pitcher of ice water So after talking to management who also insisted that they do not have water informed me that they will make an exception and will get me a pitcher of ice water I requested Final result one glass of lukewarm water for a party of 5 no refill Will never come back

Oh i so wish if they had one in the South as well :) Was introduced to this Uzbek spot by a friend and my O my it was the best fresh food ive had in a long long while. I have to start with the SERVICE it is amazing and they go all out to make sure you are taken care off. Got seated pretty fast, noticed if its just 2 its easier to get a table if more than 2 you will have to wait. Food– Bread was brought as soon as we seated and we started off with the nargis salad and uzbek lamb palao. One of the freshest salads ive had and tasty, every vege in the salad was fresh and perfect. The palao tasted amazing and the lamb meat was mouth watering. We then ordered some Grill items, chicken on bone was the special for today, regular chicken, beef skewers and lamb. Every item was mouth watering and you had to order more and more. Best part bout this place are the prices, which is very resonably priced you would expect it would be more expensive oh no everything is under 5 $. Enjoy this and hopefully they open more around the country.

Excellent, excellent food!!! I wish I could give this place 4.5 stars — the only reason I’d take half a star off would be — the long wait(while being told that the food will be right out) and the fact that they took away some of the food before we were finished(they did make up for it by bringing us a new plate). Truly, the food is delicious — amazing calf’s liver, while it looked like it was promising to be a bit dry, it was most tender and delicious! The plov was tasty with generous portions of meat on top. The shish kebab and the lamb ribs — succulent! Can’t forget the home made fruit punch — perfectly refreshing! The staff(most) are also very nice, welcoming, and cheerful. Definite recommendation!

Tasty, filling, reasonably priced. Started with a fresh salad which was nice then tried plov for the first time and it was great. Had some skewers that were also good altho one(lamb with bone I think) was über greasy. The chicken was probably the best skewer that I tried. Also had an eggplant spread that was tasty that came with a giant piece of fresh bread. Had plenty of leftovers that tasted great the next day too. Wish this place wasn’t so far from me otherwise I’d probably come here semi regularly. Also tried one of the drafts(Uzbek or Russian, no clue) that was good, came in a gigantic glass aka nice pour size lol. Interior is def Russiany/Uzbek feeling, Russian pop on the tv. They also have outdoor seating, altho was pretty hot on the day I went, so opted to stay inside. Anyways, would def check this out if you live in the area.

A wonderful restaurant in the heart of Russian Brooklyn that I somehow never thought to try. Several people talked it up in the last few years, so on a recent weekend I guided the parents and the gf over for some Uzbek comfort food. Buzzing with families and friends at 2 pm on Sunday, they were still able to get us a table within minutes. The most remarkable thing about Nargis might be the five-star service. Stay with me now: if you’re Russian or have been indoctrinated into Russian dining in New York, you know what I’m talking about. Sad but true: our former homeland is renowned for many things, but service is not one of them. It’s a foreign concept to those who grew up in the former Soviet Union, and this is reflected in many a lame attempt to push the appearance of attentiveness(the plates are changed every 30 seconds, but you might get hit in the head with them… and you’ll definitely increase your Russian sailor vocabulary at some joints). To paraphrase The Dictator, iz like seeing a monkey on roller-skates, sometimes. No so at Nargis. Our waiter was deft, funny, and completely accommodating, navigating my fastidious parents with expert aplomb. He was even patient in explaining the laughably reasonable $ 5 corkage fee for our BYOB(another concept that Russian New Yorkers of a certain age find foreign). I looked around the room, which was cozy even while at capacity. All the waiters and waitresses had headsets and an older manager patrolled the floor like a general, making sure his plan was executed to a tee. And it works! What can I say about the food? Middle Eastern cuisine is an easy sell for me, so everything I had, from the cheburek to the manti to the plov, were first rate(the latter was different from other plovs, but the lamb was perfectly tender and plentiful). The gf tried a lagman, which was a meal in itself, and enjoyed it. Parents had plov and a grilled fish, most of which they had to take home due to the sheer size of the serving. I, too, had lunch for the next day(similar to meals at my parents’ house). Prices were ridiculously low, even by Russian/Uzbek café standards.

This neighborhood gem completes our area. Food and pricing is always on point. The place is ran hands on by its owners. One of the partners is a host and another one is always in the kitchen and can possibly be the head chef. This Uzbek style cuisine can attend to all sort of taste buds. They have various types of kebabs, fish dishes, authentic Uzbek dishes, freshest salads and good service for the most part. My wife and many others always complain about coming out of there and stinking like their food. The smells seeps through the clothing and you smell it on yourself for days. I personally don’t care especially the times when I order it for the office or for home. Kebab stick average price is 3.50−4 bucks where else can you really get that. salads and other things tend to be a bit pricier but still worth every penny. Enjoy!
