THISPLACEDOESNOTEVENDESERVE A ONE-STAR! When we went to place an order for a 10 pound cake for my son’s 100th day celebration event, they promised us they would make the cake just like the photo we showed them. On the day of the event, the delivery person showed up with the cake and it did not look anything like the cake we have asked for. The Keroppi looked ridiculous. Colors were completely off. A word was not correct(we asked for it to say«Happy 100 Days Jayden»). They charged us $ 138. We asked for them to either give us a discount on our cake or to remake one. They said it was impossible to make a new cake in time for the event, so they offered a $ 20 discount. Seriously, a $ 20 discount after they messed up on the WHOLE cake. Even if we didn’t complain about the decoration, just the top layer alone should be worth more than $ 20! The owner was obnoxiously unprofessional and not accommodating. She said to either take it or leave it and they will have the delivery person take back the whole cake. We told her, «I’m sorry, but that is not how you do business. You did not even apologize for your mistake, instead, threaten to take the cake away». She asked, «Is money really that big of a deal? I don’t need you to teach me how to do business». That alone right there made us even more furious. No apology and we get that attitude? We told her«no, money is not the problem at all. It’s the fact that you are not even sincere on trying to fix the issue and will not own up to your mistake.» In the end, we unwillingly, without a choice, accepted the cake for $ 138 and told her that we rather not have that face-smacking $ 20 discount. Without a word she hung up on us. The delivery person felt bad and took $ 38 out of his own pocket to give to us. Even though it’s just a bakery, that is not how you do business and treat your customers!

Pricy, nothing really special or stands out. Used to like their egg tart, but not taste as good as few years ago. The servers are not very friendly either. Won’t be back since there are so many bakeries nearby.

Cheap and fast. But that is about it. I dislike the fact that my ordered coffee was already pre-made and the baos taste a bit stale… There are always a crowd of people waiting for buses and whatnot here but you can go in and get your bao quickly. Eighty cents gets you a mediocre bao but there are better bakeries down 8th ave.

I stopped in here real quick on my way to the N train; usually I go to 59th St since I am in the middle of the two but I wanted some phở so I went to a place down the street from here and figured I’d partake in the Asian cultural experience the area has to offer. After my phở(which was meh) I was craving some serious calories so I eyeballed a couple of the bakeries in the area. I figured this one looked clean and presentable so I went in. The staff was friendly and helpful, always with a warm smile. The atmosphere was lively. I wound up getting a small chocolate-cake-with-sprinkles thing for only a DOLLAR including tax. Awesome. New Kingly — I’ll be back.

Of the sea of bakeries along Brooklyn’s growing Chinatown, this place stands to be one of my favorites along the always very busy 8th Avenue. It may not look like much from the outside, but plenty of Chinese patrons will crowd this place up any day of the week. Their array of cakes, drinks, and various pastries are definitely high on the quality chart and can be had for very reasonable prices. Given its close proximity to the subway, I will usually stop here to pick something up be it a drink or a snack as I tread along the crowded streets. Recently I managed to pick out a sweet cake that was nice and small, but with lots of flavor and light fluffiness. It was a 10 inch cake that cost me $ 13 and was customized on the spot. The service was super quick as always and were friendly in the process. Though its a no brainer for most businesses in Chinatown, let it be known that everything is cash only here.
