I’ve been ordering from this place for 10 years, the food is so good, where ever I go for Chinese food, when I’m not home, I always end up comparing it to this restaurant. They’ve set a high standard!

I haven’t eaten Chinese Food for a long time and for some reason the rain made me crave for shrimp egg foo yung and chicken broccoli and after searching and reading reviews of other Chinese restaurant, I came across New Star and read good reviews and decided to give it a try. Not only the food was amazing, the delivery was on time and pretty impressed that my food wasn’t wet and cold since it was raining like crazy outside. And for the portion, lunch special was a huge portion and made me full and for $ 5 lunch special was worth it and so affordable. I will Definetly order from them again.

It’s been about two years since I’ve had Chinese takeout. There’s no particular reason as to why I stopped eating it… I just did. But on a recent Saturday night we were hungry and the boys decided we should order some Chinese. According to our friend/host who lives in the neighborhood — New Star is the best. He wasn’t lying. It was good! I know I know Chinese take out is the just, well, Chinese take out… but something about this place just made it better than so many other places I’ve had in the past. For one — both the portions and proportions were right. If I order a combo meal I want a equal-ish amount of rice and chicken — I don’t want an entire container of rice and three pieces of meat. New Star surprised me by giving a large helping of chicken(I ordered the sweet and sour) and a smaller sized container of rice. Perfectly proportioned! And I didn’t feel super stuffed on rice after dinner. And because I wasn’t stuffed I was able to try the Apple Sticks! These have never been my favorite but the boys ordered them and insisted I try one. Wow. Other take-out places have mushy barely fried apple sticks — not New Star. Crispy and golden and just the right amount of sweet apple filling — they were so good! Next time I’ll be the one ordering the apple sticks.

After a long search we have finally found our new favorite Chinese food restaurant. They have great service at decent prices, a plus is that they take debit and credit cards, the only draw back is that it can take a little while for the food to arrive.

Not happy with my regular local Chinese takeout, I went a-Yelping for a new place to try and found New Star. It’s got good reviews on Seamless, Grubhub and Urbanspoon too. They have a 2012 Golden Grub Award for their General Tso’s Chicken. And free WIFI. I didn’t like that bits of food from previous patrons were left on the tables and the dining area was grubby. Even the countertop where you order was greasy. But the place has a DOH«A» rating so I decided to have faith that the kitchen was better maintained than the front. The countergirl was polite and helpful, and dealing with her was very pleasant. My group liked everything we got: eggdrop soup(very hot!), pan-fried vegetable dumplings, eggroll, apple sticks, vegetable chow fun, Thai fried rice, boneless spare ribs, shrimp & broccoli. Everything was fresh, tasty and not excessively salty. I especially liked the dumplings – a nice variety of veggies including good tofu in a delicate dough, lightly fried and not at all greasy. The portions are ordinary-size but the Chinese noodles are skimpy, only half-full packets. But they’re fresh and crispy, not at all oily or stale, and I actually ate them unlike the oil-soaked packets of noodles I’ve had at other takeouts. So for me, New Star is definitely not an eat-in kind of place, only takeout and(free) delivery. And delivery will be very easy using online ordering and my credit card. UPDATE5÷10÷2015: Delivery is SLOW! The food comes by motorbike at least 60 minutes from the timestamp on my online order, and on busy days even longer than that(example: «4/20»).

I’ve tried every Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood and this is the best one. The food is actually flavorful compared to the bland food found elsewhere. The dumplings are always fresh and tasty which is a big indicator of quality for me. The delivery service has always been friendly and quick.

I always order take out from them, their noodles are very good and their boneless bbq ribs are awesome. The dumplings are as equally as good.

I’ve been coming here for 14 years. I LOVE this place! A hidden gem in the Sheepshead Bay area! I always order their lunch special, which has the BEST deal you can find in the area! And considering I care more about taste and flavor, than cost, this place really hits the spot. Their prices are crazy cheap and their food is DELICIOUS! Not even run-of-the-mill Chinese take out delicious, but actually quite good! I find myself craving their food whenever I’m in the mood for Chinese(and I’ve had Chinese from literally *every* delivery spot in my area!) I had a vegetable egg roll — Great! It was the freshest egg roll I’ve ever had! The oil on the outer casing was still crackling when it arrived at my door! the texture and flavor of the spring roll was delicious. No complaints whatsoever. My boyfriend did order a shrimp roll. I will say that the shrimp roll is slightly lacking in shrimp(you get 1 or 2 shrimp per roll). But still, delicious. My hot noodles in sesame sauce was FANTASTIC! Literally, the best I’ve ever had. The portion of sauce to noodle ratio was SPOTON! I shredded some carrots and cucumbers myself to add to it, and good lord did it hit the spot. I will definitely be ordering this again in the future! My boyfriend had their chicken with broccoli. The broccoli was insanely fresh! I don’t know if you can tell from the photo I’ve uploaded, but that is some real green broccoli! Nothing that’s been frozen or stored up for awhile. The sauce was incredibly flavorful. The chicken was tender, moist, and delicious. It was drowning in sauce, but had the perfect amount of sauce. Awesome! He’ll definitely be ordering this again — in fact, he just said this was our new go-to place. My vegetable lo mein was absolutely perfect. Not flavorless like many, many Chinese take out locations. Perfectly seasoned, some of that gorgeous fresh broccoli, and a great portion for the price. Jeez, I LOVETHISPLACE! I will ABSOLUTELY be ordering from here again(I believe tonight was order number 8 in total over the past 9 months). We love this place, and love that it’s a hidden gem, whose prices are still insanely reasonable, despite Brooklyn hipsterdom. Thank you, New Star!
