Chill in the tree-lined courtyard at the back. Dance to live vinyl played by a DJ behind the bar. There’s no signage when you’re finding this place on the street.

No Name Bar is a cool spot in Greenpoint with a backyard and a small semi-private back area. Perfect for dates or unsavory conversations. The downstairs was closed when we went, but I hear it’s cool. We went early, so it started out lowkey but then got a bit more rowdy as the night went on. I wanna say it’s not great for groups just because of the limited space, but you should bring the party with you. Decent whiskey selection.

One of my favorite bars in Brooklyn. Always a great time, fun crowd, attentive bartenders. Love the lighting, décor… feels very cozy. Can sometimes be very packed, especially on weekends, so finding a seat can be difficult but it not a huge deal.

Good bar but if you’re coming in for the outdoor backyard … DON’T!!! Shut down three years ago.

Interesting décor for the seating area by the wall — a mix between industrial and rustic. The beers were average, a short selection of drafts, nothing to write home about. I don’t know if it was just me but I caught some attitude from the bartend. Or maybe that was his style of stoic professionalism.

No Name Bar is a very nice, laid back bar. The bartenders are friendly enough, the atmosphere is great– dimmed lighting, simple candles, comfortable furniture. The customers it attracts are mostly mature, yet still young, stylish Willyb folks who are just trying to have a good time– and cause no trouble. I would feel safe leaving my bag here while going to the bathroom(which says a lot). I’d definitely take a friend or date here– the prices are also not alarming, which is always a plus! This review sounds great, right? Why am I giving it two stars, then?! I’ll tell you why! Tonight I went here with two friends, at around 8pm. We had just came from the happy hour at Dos Toros and wanted a more chill scene.(Dos Toros was crowded, there were rando’s sitting next to us, and smelling tacos when you’re not hungry is not appealing). The bar was practically empty. We put our things on a seat and my friend came back to us, asking if we wanted to relocate, because the bar didn’t accept her ID? I didn’t understand. She’s of age… so I thought, maybe she misunderstood the bartender. I decided to take matters into my own hands(because I didn’t want to leave), and ask the bartender myself. The bartender: Very sweet girl, and clearly trying to obey her boss’ rule to save her job, but she didn’t even look at my ID. She claims her boss told her that the bar does not accept the new ID cards. And when I tried to make sense of it– that maybe fakes have been coming up and they are putting a hold on the new ID’s until further notice– she just said that this bar does not take accept them, and that maybe I can try somewhere else. ??? … ??? … !!! The«new» ID cards are years old. They aren’t new anymore. Mine was issued in 2013. That was two years ago. 75% of people should have the new ID by now. If anything, I would suspect the OLDID’s. They look like they’re easier to manipulate. We were offended and upset, because we are legal adults who just wanted a damn drink after a long day at work, and this bar was our first choice. I am not trying to bash the bartender, because she is the bartender of everyone’s dreams(pretty, sweet, loud, attentive, and friendly!), but if what she is saying is true, and the boss is not accepting the«new» state ID’s, then. dude! You’re going to lose SO much business. Invest in a scanner, or a professional fake ID examiner(if they exist), or something! Don’t just deny customers over something they can’t control. I didn’t ask for my ugly deer in headlights looking picture to be put on my legal identification card, not once, but TWICE(the little holographic version *shudders*)! I do not expect to be denied at such a cool local bar. My friend lives close, I work close, this is one of the only chill, non-hipster infested bar in the area, please don’t ruin it. I will change my rating and update my review if the owner of this place contacts me and explains the situation.

I was in the area after eating dinner at Amber restaurant for a friend’s birthday dinner. We were looking for a bar that served shots and this is what another bar suggested. The seating was nice, soft benches facing the bar. This place wasn’t my scene. It played hardcore rock screamo music. Nothing bad about it, just not my style. Served typical drinks, wasn’t super smelly or stuffy like the other bars we visited in the area

Sad news: No more secret noodles. Apparently they closed one year ago. Beers are ok. Cute place. Just one person at the bar on a Thursday night.

I didn’t like this bar almost immediately, because for the first time ever, I was carded twice — once at the door, and again about 15 seconds later on my way toward the back of the bar. Suffice it to say, I was very confused as to why I was being carded a 2nd time, and didn’t realize this had been the bouncer’s(I guess — looked like a heroined out metalhead to me) intention and when I realized what he wanted, I told him that I’d already been carded, but he kind of shrugged and asked for my ID again, so either one: this bouncer was a dick, or two: this bouncer was an idiot and didn’t know how to do his job, or three: a combination of the two. What was just as discerning was the trashy and awfully loud Metal the bar was playing from the second my group walked in, especially given that my friend«Kevin» had told us that this would be a nice, relaxing bar for a night cap. The one positive attribute that wasn’t nearly enough to make this an overall good experience was the private-isn area in the back with a couple of couches and nice chairs. Do not think I shall be frequenting this place any time in the near future.

I saw a noname bar fight last summer. A girl slapped this guy in the face in the backyard. This slap to the face was probably inspired by Kinfolk magazine

The door man tried to sell me drugs I think. He kept saying buy in whatever that means. After I called him out and threatened to call the cops he said he’d «bash my face in».

I Had mixed feelings about this place when they opened. I’m a neighbor and I felt like they had a habit of attracting a noisy crowd outside. I admit however that Greenpoint and Manhattan Avenue Is a rapidly changing cityscape and It’s impossible to stop this type of shift. Once I got over myself I started visiting the bar in the evenings. The music and overall vibe changes depending on who they have spinning records. Eventually I found my self enjoying drinks while Tony P was on the decks. I’ve been a fan of this place ever since. Aside from having a vey intimate décor, approachable and professional staff they have top notch music curation. Which is really what makes this place a real Gem and ultimately one of the taste making center’s that has highlighted Greenpoint on the map.

I’ve been to this bar many times, it’s ok. However, tonight my friend was denied entrance for being French. Seriously? Nationalism? In THIS neighborhood? Guess I won’t be drinking here again. Too bad. Not interested in that b.s.

Came here for a last minute drink with some friends. There were a few people trying to get in along with my group and the bouncer had to ask the bartender if it was okay to let people in. Luckily for us, the bartender was feeling nice and let us in — hence the extra star. That said, the bartender was incredibly rude. Rushed my friend to pick a drink and then kept refusing to serve it(Nope, draft is done. Nope, bottles are wrapped). We decided to lounge in the back area and about 5 minutes later the bouncer comes and tells us to get up because that area was closed. We get up and then he comes back to say the bar is closing and we need to leave. He wasn’t rude but the bartender started shooting us really ugly looks and it made us all uncomfortable so we chugged our drinks and left. Vibe was off, never coming back here. At least I can say I tried it.

Came here for drink specials. Ordered beer. It gets crowded after 7 on a Thursday. Crowd is hipsters. Food smelled good. Typical bar food.

Was in Brooklyn back in January and needed a place to go later at night. I was very hesitant to go here cause I heard the bar had just reopened after being closed for a number of months for failing it’s health inspection, but it was late and I let the group lead. It’s a small place and open late so it fills very easily. Service was to be expected — I’m used to bartenders taking their time at dives/lounges. I paid in cash and tipped well for a couple of drafts. My friend and I sit down, she notices the graf and pulls out some markers to draw a tag. Given that graf covered façade and tables and bar’s reputation as an artist hangout, I was surprised when the bartender(same guy I just tipped four dollars to) came over not to ask her to stop or her to leave but to clear MY drink and kick ME out. No warning, no acknowledgement of the fact that I wasn’t drawing, and never even addressing my friend who left with me out of solidarity. The bouncer who had to escort us out just looked so pathetically embarrassed and flabbergasted. I understand that bartending is stressful and that sometimes you end up taking it out on someone, but it makes me very very uncomfortable that I happened to be the only non-white patron at the time. Until now, I never agreed with the sentiment that the place is mostly for privileged kids of a certain type or color. Never going back.

Very hip and that’s fine, we are in Greenpoint after all. The only minus to this joint is that the canned beer should be a dollar less. I expected to receive a Naragansett tall boy for $ 5 and was instead given a regular can of Rhode Island’s finest beer. Disappointed on that end. Their draft list, while small, is effective and the prices are not too high compared to other Brooklyn establishments. The backyard is awesome. I would come back only for that purpose. To come all the way from my Carroll Gardens apartment up to Greenpoint on a regular basis would be silly but for taking out of towners or meeting up with folks on the northern part of the borough, I will definitely consider No Name Bar. Heads up: For a weeknight, it was rather crowded so keep that in mind if you go on the weekend.

I’ve only been a resident of Greenpoint for 4 weeks so take my review with a grain of salt but I think no bar here symbolizes this neighborhood better than No Name. Hidden from plain sight this oasis of tranquility has become my favorite neighborhood destination. The backyard is calm and soothing just like the neighborhood with locals congregating for a drink and a smoke. You don’t get the ridiculousness of Williamsburg in terms of atmosphere which is great but you still get some of the vibes. Perfect place to enjoy a spring or summer evening with some friends to relax. By far my favorite bar so far in all of Brooklyn.
