Rude. MY wife and I got a coffee as we waited for friends a few days ago. We didn’t have cash, while my wife way paying I went to the bathroom. When I got out my wife told me of the horrendous encounter of «Olga» giving her a hard time for paying with a credit card and not cash! We totally understand the surcharge and my wife offered to not take the coffee. Eventually my wife and I went a few blocks up to get cash and on the walk back as we passed«Olga’s» there was an obnoxious hand-written note«bathroom is for customers only» hanging on the front door obviously directed at my wife and I from the sub-par interaction within the previous hour! Are you serious?! And this was all over coffee. Not how you run a business Olga.

Definitely recommend this restaurant. I’ve had 2 great meals here now. Tonight I had the Israeli panini which is eggplant, tomatoes, onions and za’atar(I love za’atar) hot pressed on delicious flat multigrain toast. I opted for no fries and Olga doubled my salad portion. Delicious meal!!! Healthy and yum.

This place is quickly becoming a regular spot. The service is not syrupy sweet but seems efficient and no nonsense. It’s nice to support a family restaurant. The spaghetti pomodoro was bare bones but really tasty and sort of refreshing — not too rich as some sauces can be. The spaghetti is great and so are the panini’s with cheese with the bread perfectly crisp. Looking forward to trying many more dishes. Affordable and a great family spot. UPDATE — Our last three experiences have been really bad. Most recently we had food that was delivered 90 minutes after we ordered! Unripe avocados and an owner that doesn’t have any idea how to run a business. Their table service is better than delivery but just keep a close eye — they have no problem selling unripe avocados so I imagine they take shortcuts elsewhere too. Also note the« Unilocal Lemonade» is one time only which is logical of course. Take a chance if you want — our last interactions with the owners really rubbed us the wrong way. We won’t be frequenting any more.

For months now I’ve been passing by this bright little spot on the tumbleweedy stretch of Smith where the subway pops out of the underworld, and finally gave it a try. Excellent. It’s kosher, which I’m not, but they make a perfect panini on the healthy tip, and the salad and fries that came with it were exactly right. Nice people running the show, too. A welcome addition to the neighborhood, highly recommended.

Thanks Unilocal for the free lemonade — delicious, honey sweetened but not too sweet. I had no idea there was somewhere with fresh, kosher salads that would deliver to downtown brooklyn — I’m all the way on Court st. & the min was $ 10. I LOVED the salad I just had. $ 8 for unlimited toppings. Not a large serving(although I got arugala, could be larger with other lettuces). I had feta & cheddar cheese, kalmata olives, hearts of palm, artichoke hearts etc… I think the ingredients cost more than the salad did! Next, the salad dressing — I got blue cheese on the side — had huge chunks of blue cheese in it, yum! Took about 30 minutes for my order to come. Well worth the wait, will be ordering again. Probably tomorrow. Thanks Unilocal people for noting the kosher location!

Cuisine: Dairy/Fish/Vegan RABBINICALSUPERVISION OK — Cholov Yisrael HOURS Monday-Thursday 10:00AM — 9:00PM Friday 10:00AM — 5:00PM Saturday closed Sunday 10:00AM — 6:00PM Nestled in Carroll Gardens Brooklyn, Olga’s on Smith is a modern café restaurant befitting Smith Street’s established trendy eateries. From the outside there is no indication that Olga’s is catered toward a kosher crowd and the food is a great alternative for those looking outside the standard pizza and kugel restaurants. The walls are white and free of clutter. Large windows let in the natural light from outside. It is a great place to take a date or just relax during the day and the space can hold up to 100 guests for a simcha or special occasion. The menu offers a healthy yet delectable lunch and light dinner. In the mood for a pan fried tilapia with wasabi aioli on artisan bread? Or how about a roasted red pepper and pesto panini with mozzarella? They’re all served with an exotic side salad and chips and go great with a savory soup. Finish off with a home baked cookie and café drink. There are as many options for fish and dairy eating customers as there are for vegan ones. On the menu you will find an easy guide for which selections are veggie, vegan, gluten free and dairy free. Olga’s on Smith offer a variety of catering options for your function with their carefully put-together platters. The restaurant is also very technologically savvy, with a Facebook page and group showing off the latest specials and menu additions. Ultimately, the restaurant is a great addition to Brownstone Brooklyn’s eclectic bistros and is especially welcome due to the lack of kosher eateries in the neighborhood. They offer delivery throughout the area, call to see if you are within their region. Close to the Carrol Street stop on the F and G trains in Brooklyn.

Olgas is amazing, where else can I get great looking healthy kosher food at a fraction of the cost in large Jewish areas? Olgas is clean, friendly and the menu is easy. I always order the ginger salmon with two sides or a large build your own salad. I like that I can pay one flat price for a salad without worrying how much the extra olives are running me. The breads are very good and the vegetables they use are top notch. I really like the roasted tomatoes with mint and the squash medley. My only complaint is the service, dinner never seems to take long, but a couple of times I ordered for pickup and when I got there they hadn’t even made my food yet.

We ate at Olga’s last night and were pretty impressed. The menu had changed(we were told) and most of the options are sandwiches/paninis and salads. The food is made to order and was very tasty. We ordered the arugula, goat cheese and lox panini and the mushroom, cheese and pesto panini and both were delicious. Both came with a very fresh side salad and sweet potato fries. Service was good. Place is spotless and cute, albeit a bit stark. My only compaint is that the paninis were quite greasy. In the future I would ask for them to be toasted instead of grilled. We’ll definitely be going back.

Hidden on the back end of Smith Street– near 3rd Street, you’ll find a healthy Kosher Parve(i think) home cooked(for sure) delicious meal! Lots of fish options, delicious salmon with whole grain sides. Salads as well, creamy dill dressing that goes with the salmon is really yummy.

Went here last night for Gaming night. This place is right by my work, and thus very convient. The owner was very friendly, and actually let a group of people bring board games to use in her establishment. My first impression was a little overwhelming. The place has a minimalistic ambiance, and there is no menu untill you talk to the guy behind the counter. On the menu there is a lot of selection, and it takes awhile to figure out what you want. I got there early, and decided to start with a home made iced tea. It was refreshing and hit the spot while I listened to some lazy jazz blairing on the radio. I decided to order some food, and talked to the owner behind the counter. I got the Talapia(On the chefs recommendation), and 2 sides. The brocoli, and some mushroom olive dish. Now the food is all freshly cooked, and looks quite good, but they need to use a microwave to reheat. That is usually a bad sign. The owner brought out my plate piping hot and I got too it. The bread provided was very fresh and tasty. The Talapia, tasted like, well, Talapia. It was good, but nothing special. The brocoli was literally that, just brocoli. The mushroom olive dish however was delicious. If I had gotten just that and the tea, I’d be running back. Anyhow the food was average, but for the 9 dollars I spent, I would probably venture elsewhere. The food was good to eat and the location was good, but there are a lot of good places to eat in BK. If you live in the neighboorhood, I would try this place at least once. P.s I later got the soup too. It looked delicious and I couldn’t resist. After all the food I ate, I didn’t feel bloated or gross at all. Defintely healthier then indicated below. I would definitely give this place another chance. If nothing else then the friendly owner and staff.

My husband and I were attracted to this place initially by the clean décor and the thrilling fact that a «vegan» place popped up in our hood. However, we had a less than stellar experience there. We ordered soup, sauteed veggies, mashed potatoes, and rice w/broccoli. The sauteed veggies were basically skinny sopping slices of pepper drenched in oil and leeched of all color. The soup was watery mushroom with no flavor to speak of. The potatoes were ice cold– I was told on the phone they make their food in the morning and microwave it to order, so no wonder. AND, the rice w/broccoli contained two greasy florets and that was it as far as veggies– the rest was just oily rice. Be warned… this isn’t that«healthy eating» kind of vegan place. It’s a kosher joint that uses the word«vegan» to draw business from yuppie health-nuts like ourselves. Shame on you, Olga’s. You’re no Wild Ginger.(But you’re WAAAY cheaper, so I guess that’s something.)
