I’ve been here a couple of times and I’ve had the chicken burrito and chicken tacos. This one time I had the chicken burrito I threw up, but I didn’t think anything of it. Then today I have the Papis taco and immediately when I finished I threw up. I don’t know what they use and if anyone else has experienced this, but I don’t think I will be eating from here anymore. I will definitely be more cautious of the things I eat. In the meantime I’m gonna go to the doctors to figure out what was wrong.

Maybe a bit slow in service, and the rice is not so authentic(how come all new york taquerias serve hard rice?!). But the chorizo breakfast burrito has saved my life a couple times, and the folks are nice. Good to have around the corner.

Huevos rancheros was delicious. Their take on it is simple with excellent ingredients and texture. Service was fast. Price is so right.

I’m so glad I stumbled upon Papi’s Grill while looking for a place in Park Slope for the lunch. I got the Chorizo and Egg Tortas and it was absolutely delicious. Perfect balance of ingredients on a deliciously warm Mexican roll. It’s not a place I would go out of my way to eat at but if you’re in the area check it out! The food is quick and delicious. There’s a small place to eat in but they also do take out.

I’m liking this place. It’s a good example of decent Mexican food. I’m not going to lead Chowhound tours here or anything but I would definitely come back if in the mood for good Mexican. In Park Slope, people have really weird ideas about what Mexican and Thai food is, or perhaps have had their senses dulled by years of mediocre garbage. I was scared about the mentions of powdered cheese and cheese whiz, but as it turns out, this place is using the authentic stuff, meaning crema and añejo cheese. I had the spicy pork torta, which was well flavored and brought me back to the tortas of my Southern California youth. I also got the picadito based on a Unilocal shout-out — I’d never had one. It’s pretty awesome that they make the tortilla right there. It was a very tasty tortilla! The tinga was too bland for my tastes but I’d try the other toppings. In short, come for the tacos, cemitas, or tortas(Mexican food) and perhaps skip nachos and burritos and other less authentico stuff.

The flavor was there but I was a little disappointed. I ordered the chicken burrito to go the other day. It was my first time there so I should have specified with the waitress that took my order what came in the burrito. Even though it says on the menu what comes on it, should have asked for lettuce and tomato on it. It was chicken, rice beans, sour cream, and weird cheese. It was a combination of cheese whiz and it looked like mozzarella, it was very strange. The chicken looked very weird but I was hungry and hoping for the best. It was yellow and stringy is the best way to describe it. I will say the portion was huge I was really hungry and couldn’t finish it. I thankfully didn’t feel sick or extremely disgusting after eating it either. I will give it another chance, it wasn’t what I was expecting though.

Whole heartedly agree with a previous reviewer that says, «Park Slope should be rejoicing.» The thing that knocks this place a notch above similar Mexican restaurants is freshness. Everything is made to order and puts other fast food type joints to shame. Delicious, clearly, too.

I’ve been there twice and really enjoyed it both times. The vegetable burrito was solid, the steak in my taco was really delicious, and the staff was lovely. Happy to have them in the neighborhood.

Stopped in for a steak and chicken taco to go. So bland and dry I thought my Norwegian grandmother from the Midwest made it! I brought it home and«doctored» it up with my own salsa. Unfortunately, I think it’s the worst taco I’ve ever ordered. I’ll give the place another chance and try something else.

I ordered 1 steak, 1 carnitas &1 chicken taco. My favorite is the chicken, followed closely by the steak. The tacos were tasty and have a lot of toppings, also come with free side sauce. Delicious! The food is cooked in front of you, very neat and clean. Customer service is fantastic!

What the fuck is going on with powdered cheese on nachos? That should be enough said but their phone # doesn’t work. Service is mediocre at best. Tacos are decent. My challenge: respond to this review with a dish of nachos with MELTEDMEXICANBLENDOFREALCHEESE so i can bump this up to 4 stars. Thank you,

I love this place. It’s a family-owned-and-run spot — they also have a bakery in Sunset Park — and they’re incredibly sweet and welcoming. If you try to question the women who cook you may have some confusion as their English isn’t 100%, but the food is fantastic. Highly recommend the spicy meats, and on weekends they have the best tamales I’ve had in a long time — fresh, light and fluffy masa, and a couple of less-standard flavors like mole and tamales oaxaqueño, wrapped in banana leaves instead of corn husks.(Go on Saturday for the best selection of tamales, as they run out later on.) Also wonderful Huevos Rancheros. I’m so glad to have them nearby.

Hidden gem! A friend of mine just recently introduced me to this place, the food is great & very reasonable priced. $ 7 Huarache with $ 3 Tamale very tasty, very satisfied. It’s rare to find authentic Mexican food like this in park slope. Really hope Papi’s Grill do good on 7th ave, and I’ll be coming all the time.

I am happy that they are carrying some vegetarian options now. For a while they were offering a mushroom burrito, however the one time I tried to order it, it was unavailable. They seem to be responding to constructive Unilocal reviews. I have two issues with it right now: –The lack of variety and depth in vegetarian options –The use of styrofoam plates and plastic utensils, if you’re dining in. Our neighborhood is compost friendly, if you’re not going use real plates, why not figure out at least a more environmentally friendly option? My favorite dish so far is the Huarache with avocados and their breakfast burrito without meat.

Saturday we had a great inexpensive meal at Papi’s Grill. The burrito was huge and could easily be split between 2 people who don’t eat huge amounts of food. However she had the burrito(I ate half of it) and I ordered 2 chicken Tacos. The seating is limited but it was pretty empty when we arrived. Tacos $ 3.00 each and burrito $ 9.00. Starbucks is directly across the street because you’ll need it after the meal. Lol

I was excited about this place, but was very disappointed when I finally got to trying it. It’s not authentic Mexican by any means. The ingredients lacked any real flavor. The carnitas was dry and tasteless, as were the beans and rice. The rumor is that a Chipotle is going to open a couple blocks away, which when it does, will sadly(would rather support a ma & pa establishment) take all of the business from this place.

I feel bad for whoever invested money into this establishment. The staff have no idea what they are doing. I love Mexican food, so I was excited when this came to the neighborhood. First time I went I waited 30 mins for a burrito to which they didn’t get the order right… added sour cream and wrong beans. This morning I go for breakfast and ask about the ham and eggs sandwich asking how many eggs, she says one… I say for five dollars? She then asked and it was two eggs. Still not good pricing but the staff appear clueless yet the food is rather quality. With so many good places in park slope, I’ll take my business elsewhere.

The service(take out, mind you) was sub-par. Asked if they served breakfast all day and the girl behind the counter said yes. Except hash browns. Ordered the hot rice cooked with milk. Girl behind counter looks at me like I am the dumbest person on earth. «We don’t serve that here.» I look down at the menu. Re-read it to myself and she says«anymore…» So I tell her I will I order the same thing my daughter did along with a tres leches cake. On the way out I politely and discreetly mention that the way she talked to me was embarrassing. She gives me a blank look and tells me «Oh, I had finals…» Really? We walk a few blocks home and see that we only have one dinner, not the two we ordered. She didn’t charge me for two, so I didn’t bother to go back or complain. What would be the point? On the plus side; the place is spotless and smells great. Assuming she passed her finals, your experience may be better than mine…

Park Slope should be celebrating. Dipped in, ravenous, looking for sustenance. I ordered the chicken rings picadita. I was surprised to see picaditas on a menu on 7th avenue. It was delicious. Fresh masa and delightfully spicy. The menu looks great — if I lived closer I’d be trying it all!

Met owner Carlos and his wife tonight at this new Park Slope spot for Mexican food. The vegetarian huarache and tostada was fresh and delicious! Carlos’ mom owns two bakeries close by so there’s fresh bread and a tres leches cake that looks divine. Serves breakfast all day(except home fries) and is open from 6am — 11pm. Happy to have them down the street!
