Super mixed feelings about the dinner I had at Moim a couple of nights ago. I’ll start from the beginning. I’ve never had non vegetarian Korean cuisine so I was excited to try this place for the first time, as the friend who dined with me told me she had a great experience there. So I walked in, the décor was modern, sleek and very pleasing to the eyes. It was 5:45 so it was vastly empty and the waiter told us we can sit wherever we’d like. So we sat down and he brought us menus right away. My friend pointed out all the dishes she liked on the menu and we chose two apps and two mains and a couple of drinks. The waiter came back and took our drink order first. I ordered a glass of wine and she, a martini. When your restaurant is empty there is absolutely no reason for a martini to be sitting on the counter for roughly 5 minutes before serving it to the patron. No reason at all. But that’s what happened. I thought of going over to the counter and just taking it to my table but figured I’d wait it out. Finally he brings the wine, and then a couple minutes after the martini. He takes our food order. We ordered Tacos, Spicy wings, Bi bim bob, and Whole Bronzini. It took about 20 minutes or so for the tacos to come out, which I felt was way too long. We should have had it maximum 10 minutes later. And then it took another few minutes until the spicy wings came out. Both of these dishes, if I were to make them at home would take me way less than the time it took them.(Again, empty restaurant). I have no complaints about the taste. OMG, I actually have compliments. Those tacos were insane! Like, I’ve never ever had such amazing, tasty, pure goodness. Beef, topped with cilantro and guacamole and cheese for my friend! Absolutely amazing! The spicy wings were fabulous. Super spicy, exactly how I imagined them to be. The mains came out together.(Great) My first time having beef bi bim bob! Ahhhh — I will be having so many more of those«Meals in a bowl» I wish every restaurant made a bronzini like they did. The flavors, texture, sauces, spices — Pure Perfection! I’m so happy I did get to taste their foods because I was super impressed with the cuisine and the dishes. But I think service(Which is a huge factor in my reviews) could have been better. I do plan on going back again — though not sure how soon. But those tacos yo! They’re a must.

This place is terrible. I’m not even an avid Unilocaler and I felt compelled to write this review. Let me preface this by saying I’m Korean so maybe I’m pickier about Korean food. What this place serves is some hokey version. I’ve gone maybe a dozen times — I kept going back because(besides the obvious nostalgia factor for me) we live only a couple blocks away and the convenience factor outweighed the subpar food and service — but I will never go back. Their bibimbap is ok i guess. But who charges extra for a friggin’ egg?! And their kalbi? A flank steak with some grilled mushrooms and onion is not kalbi no matter how you look at it(my Caucasian husband even agrees with me here). Their service also leaves something to be desired. We sat for about an hour with nothing. We ordered bibimbap, kalbi, and pajun. So a rice bowl with stuff that’s already pre made, Korean short ribs(at least that’s what it’s supposed to be) that’s pre marinated that you should be able to just throw on a grill, and pajun, a scallion pancake. The waiter said those are all dishes that«take quite some time.» Are you kidding me, waiter? Two hours in, we got the food(no banchaan to speak of). We had a hungry toddler with us so when I requested they bring out *something* the guy practically threw us a bowl of rice and walked away. Rude, right? I thought so. Anyway, by the time the food came. We had been there well over 2 hours and I was rage eating crappy food, which made me even angrier. Moim, I think I hate you.

We went here with the family early on a Saturday night. Upon arriving there were only a few tables occupied. They took our order and brought drinks. We then waited for more than 40 minutes and no appetizers had even arrived. People around us who had arrived after had already gotten apps and main courses. When we asked about the status of our food we were told they would check. I saw our waiter, who was also bartending, tend to other customers and drinks without ever going into the kitchen. Upon asking again, I was told certain dishes take a long time(BiBimBop, which is essentially rice, meat and vegetables) even though people near us got theirs and were seated after us. Having children with us who were very hungry I pointed this out to them and was told to just sit down or we would be ‘86d’ from the restaurant. We simply left. Some of the worst service I have seen in Brooklyn. I will never return.

First of all, I want to note the very sleek and contemporary style of the restaurant when I walk in and has a very nice ambience. The vibe is intimate, but very welcoming. The menu is simple, yet the food is far from it. My friend and I started with a «hopang,» a type of warm, sweet bun/taco style with pork in it. It was accented with cucumber, and other garnishings, for a fusion of different tastes. It was delicious, I would recommend ordering one order each(comes with two) because once you finish one, you still crave it. For the main course, we had a bi bim bop and kalbi. We ordered bi bim bop with egg(you don’t have to put the egg if you want, but I recommend you add it). My friend mixed it up(I wouldn’t have known to do that if she weren’t there), once again, creating a variety of flavors of the plate. It’s served in hot bowl–(I like my food warm from start to finish) and it stayed warm until the very end. Aside from the rice bowl concoction, we had a side of kalbi(short ribs), to complete the order. I am impressed with not only how much detail to paid to presentation, but to a variety flavors and ingredients the used to create these Korean fusion dishes. Coming from the west coast, I’ve never had something like this. I am definitely coming back when the next time I am in the city.

The food here is *amazing*. We’ve been twice and both times were spot on… really delicious meals, and the drinks are fantastic. There’s a great vibe at the bar(big pours from the bartender, for you fellow winos), a nice dining room, and a garden out back. Love it, will be back.

Went here with a couple of friends for cocktails and Korean bites. We enjoyed everything. I loved the jap chae and my favorite thing on the menu was the Korean pancake. Yum! I highly recommend this place!

I really enjoyed having dinner and cocktails here with a couple of friends. The Watermelon mojitos are fantastic! The kimchi pancake, the kimchi bi bim bob and Jap Chae are so yummy. I would definitely recommend checking this place out. Best Korean food I’ve tried in New York and I will be back!

My friend absolutely loves this place, I like it as well, but not with the same ferocity. The place is small, but the staff is friendly and the drink are ok. The food is pretty good, we usually get the big-bon-something, which is the stone-bowl with rice, veggies and meet. I enjoy it. If you are like Korea food, this is a definitely a good place to go for a casual dinner.

Lovely place. They make a great dol sot bibim bop(traditional hot stone rice dish with assortment of veggies). I get it with bulgogi(marinated beef). Delicious and never disappoints! The service is fast. The ambiance is modern and comfortable.

A few scattered thoughts: Most amusingly a waiter took away the saucer on which my teacup was sitting while I was taking a sip. Well-executed sea bass, very crispy skin, very good charred bok choy; Horrible lighting and music, both out of a dentist’s office waiting room; Sub-par kimchi lacking umami, depth, and spiciness; In summary, a typical fusion restaurant. In Park Slope that unfortunately makes it extraordinary, but outside of this well-populated yet desolate culinary doldrums I think it would be about decent to meh.

Since there are very limited Korean food options in the area, I was happy to find Moim. Came by on a random Tuesday and the place was pretty full, had to wait about 10 – 15 minutes to be seated. Simple décor and space, friendly service. Ordered the seafood pancake, dumplings, hot tofu casserole/soup and the bf had seafood bimbimbap. Food was ok, definitely not as good as Koreatown but it satisfies the craving if you can’t make it to K-Town. Was hoping for more of the delicious starter/sides you typically get from Korean restaurants.

Nice little place in Park Slope, great décor — could be a nice date spot. When ordering a drink from their fully-stocked(and cool little bar) hey were out of the Brian-Phillips(a gin infused drink so probably good for me) They made me a Korea manhattan which used sochu with bourbon and was amazing, I had the pork bun starter, Ho-Pang it was great, the pork bellies were minced and just a little spicy. Then Kimchi Jji-Gae, a nice kimchee stew over rice with a bit of a kick. The main course was a perfectly done bul-go-gi, which I shared with my friend. Perfectly done and served with bbq leafs and dipping sauce, the portion would be fine for one, but was sharing between two guys — gonna recommend no sharing ;) For desert we ordered the rice cakes, fried up into little crunchy circular shoots, and dashed in cinnamon, served with honey they were tasty. Service was attentive and friendly. Wish it was closer to my place.

In a neighborhood with very few options for Asian food in general, Moim is VERY welcome. The atmosphere is date-like, can accept big groups, and fairly trendy and contemporary. Bathrooms are clean, servers are kind and patient. Their cocktails are pretty yummy, and sake list is decent as well. As expected, you get a few small dishes of free appetizer as well, typically some kimchi, while the other small free dishes change on different days. It’s all good. Moim’s food is great! I wouldn’t say it is «the» best Korean, and some things do have a modern twist, but it’s the best you’ll get in Park Slope… and there’s nothing to gripe about with the flavors. Things can get spicy, so specify what your comfort level is. I’ve overheard some customers whine to staff about spiciness, and it’s so odd — Korean food is known for its spiciness. Why would you come here and expect it not to be spicy? I’ve tried several things on their menu on several occasions, and Moim is very consistent with their good quality. Bibimbap — this is the best value meal you can get here. You WILL be stuffed full, and it’s one of the cheaper entrees. I highly recommend the short rib with a fried egg. All of them come served in a sizzling pot, which is awesome because you get crunchy, delicious fried rice at the bottom of the bowl, and your food stays hot till the end: D If you or one of your friends is intimidated by Korean food, Bibimbap will probably turn them in to a Korean food lover. There’s a good mix of veggies in there too. Korean Tacos — Yummy but not very filling, and a little pricy. They’re nice for sharing in a group, but it’s definitely an appetizer. Not economical to try to turn the tacos in to an entrée. Pork bun — Similar to what you’d find at ramen places, it’s a steamed white bread with marinated pork belly wrapped inside. Very yummy, also a good appetizer. Personally I think this is a better choice over the tacos, but I’m a huge pork belly fan! For soup, I highly recommend the Kimchi-jji gae! Very spicy but very yummy. I’ve saved my leftovers from this a few times and cooked it with other meals at home, it’s very good soup. Jjap Jae is good, very solid choice, very savory. If you love noodles and meat you’ll love it! It’s also easy to make so you may wanna try a more complicated entrée for your money. Ssang-Sun Gui(Grilled Branzino) was ABSOLUTELY the best single thing I have had at MOIM!!! I dream about it sometimes. You get the whole fish, it has a nice grilled, smokey flavor on the outside, delicious white meat inside. The light sauce really brings out the great flavors. Highly recommended, especially for special occasions. Lastly, their chicken(Dak Bok-Kum) is really good as an entrée too. Crispy, delicious skin and everything on the plate compliments each other pretty well. Quite a large meal for a single girl. I highly recommend this place, if you’re in Park Slope.

I had dinner with a friend at Moim. Upon entering, we were greeted by a very pleasant staff. It was my first time trying Korean food so I didn’t really know what to expect. My friend(who is Korean) ordered for us. We ordered the bulgoki bi bim bop(beef, rice, veggies, an egg on top) which comes in a steaming bowl which you can mix yourself, depending on whether or not you like and the rice crunchy at the bottom! We also got the yachae mandu(veggie dumplings) and two litchi Martinis. The food was absolutely delicious and I am lucky to have dined at Moim for my first Korean food experience. I will most definitely be returning. Eat here, you won’t regret it!

The food is not as good as in Koreatown(the restaurant won some award about being authentic delicious Korean food?), but it is OK. However, the price is actually higher than that of Koreatown/Flushing for Korean dishes like japchae and bulgogi bibimbap… so I expected better. Very modern look & feel. The cashier girl seemed to be new the day I went since she did not know how to work the register.

Average food and friendly service. That sums up things. Prices were too expensive for Korean cuisine, especially for the portion sizes here, although maybe because I’ve been spoiled by working near K-Town for some time. However, if you’re in the mood this place is acceptable for the neighborhood.

The meal was tasty. I ordered Dak Bok-Kum and it was tasty, just tasty. The meal included grilled chicken with tteok(rice cakes) and some veggies; it is drenched in a sweet/spicy sauce. The order also included kimchi, veggies and rice. My favorite part of the dish was the tteok. The rice cakes were chewy, sweet and yummy, better than the chicken imo. Next time I will just order ttteokbokki. Also, the meal is a little on the pricy side, came up to around ~16 dollars. The portion size is decent though.

I came to Moim with a friend for some comfort food on my birthday. It was everything I dreamt of and more. Service was super friendly and well paced. The food was amazing. I had the seafood pancake and jap chae with shrimp. My friend had spicy chicken tacos and steamed buns. All we’re delicious. I only wish they delivered to my house in the South Slope! I will definitely be a regular here.

This place is always just a little above average when I go but it does satisfy a craving. Bulgogi tacos lure me in but this time they were served cold. Prob bc all our food came out at once? Seafood pancake was all scallion with tiny piece of squid and 2 shrimp. Salad was tasty with good amount of dressing, 4 pieces of tofu. Would I come back or recommend? Maybe in a bind or intense craving, maybe.
