We’ve gotten delivery from here a few times, and it’s delicious! So happy I’ve found a tasty Korean place in the neighborhood — I’m Korean-American and lived in Seoul for 6.5 years until recently, and the flavors are spot-on here. We really liked the bibimbap — great, fresh veggies — and the beef bowl — the seasoning was awesome on the beef, savory and slightly sweet. We also enjoyed the pickles that were included. All in all, a solid place with affordable prices!

Came in on a cold day and it was perfect for my soul. I got a cup of tea(but I can’t remember which one! it was one of the two korean teas, not the plum one, I think it had honey) and it was delicious. I ordered the soft tofu soup with kimchi(the soondubu) and it was amazing. It was exactly how soondubu is supposed to be, really, I was so impressed and surprised. One star off because it was actually quite a long wait, and there was only one other table. I was really annoyed about it but honestly the food was so great that I was immediately appeased. The way they prepared the meal made it clear that everything about what they do is so intentional, like you could really taste the effort they made for my specific meal. The staff were really attentive, and a man who I assume was an owner came by at one point just to check on me and asked if I wanted extra veggies. With that context it felt like yeah, I can understand why they took long, the food really gave you the sense that they were an entire restaurant dedicated to just serving you. Would definitely go again, just always when I have a lot of time.

I’m no Korean food aficionado, but all I know is the bibimbap and kimchi fried rice were absolutely delicious. They’ve got a pretty awesome tea menu, which you need to ask them for, in case that’s your thing. Service was on point and super friendly. Definitely worth checking this spot out.

All I have to say is, ‘that ish’ was good’! We had the Bibimbap rice bowl w/chicken and the Sobora beef, and it was quite frankly one of the best meals that I had in NYC. Service is great, affordable. Done

Was going to go to Chuko next door but it was packed and thank goodness because this place is amazing. The duck sizzler, bimbimbap, and several other things that I didn’t even know what I was eating was so flavorful! Served very hot in iron skillets and one of the staff even gave our table free bombs. Absolutely delicious!

I’m not a Korean food aficionado, but I know what tastes good. And this spot tastes good. It’s a great addition to the eclectic neighborhood fare, and I hope it sticks around.

The service is great and the owner is so nice. Try ‘seafood soft tofu soup’ and ‘dynamites’(mixed seafood).

Looking for some Korean clay pot lunch options in the area. Nice spot with some great outdoor courtyard seating. Food prices are a bit high for lunch. No point in having a lunch and dinner menu if the prices are exactly the same. Can’t stress enough the need for lunch«specials» that are priced accordingly. Not a quick lunch if you are in a rush. Service is on the slow side when the place has more than 2 parties seated. Food is good standard fare. Solid 3 stars. Would love to come by for happy hour and see food specials included. They do serve alcohol!

My husband and I ate here a few days ago. The staff was super friendly and accommodating and service was great. We ordered the following –Kimchi Fried Rice: Fantastic, I asked for it to be made mild because I’m not a fan of spice and they did a wonderful job, still had a small kick and lots of flavor. –Kimchi Pancake: Absolutely delicious, and the sauce was nice as well. –Japchae: Not good, too much sauce which overpowered the ingredients. We sent it back and they gave us free vegetable dumplings and ice cream. –Vegetable dumplings: small, but good. They were fried, i prefer steamed but still good. –Ice cream: Vanilla and Green tea were great We did send the Japchae back, and it was unexpected and nice to receive the dumplings and ice cream for free. All in all wonderful customer service and good food. Would definitely come back.

Attention earthlings! Never trust a place that uses Costco Mango Salsa to accompany their chips. Also it’s Korean. No chips and salsa, yoo!!! Too weird. Cmon, brahhh. Sad slimy creepers in my soup and Kim Chi that taste like it smelled. Wait an hour for some Chuko Ramen da Bomben. I know I’m being harsh, mom.

I really wanted to like this place — its a cute space and I’m excited to have Korean in the neighborhood, but the food just wasn’t good. The meat was all totally a strange consistency. And they are using ground, sweet beef, which tastes like a sloppy joe, in the bibimbap and japchae. Most was edible, but the pork sizzler was just plain gross. I don’t know if they is their idea of Korean or they think they need to «Americanize» things to be successful, but Brooklyn palates are pretty savvy — they’d be way better off doing a simple, but authentic menu. Service was friendly, but slow.

Brand new in the heights. Great staff. Yummy option if your wait at chuko takes too long.

Wow, this place is awesome. I ordered a bulgogi sweet potato pot and accidentally they brought a plain bulgogi bowl. I ate it anyway and it was ridiculously delicious, but I called to let them know and they refunded me ALL of my order AND brought me an iced tea. That is the best customer service I’ve ever received, and the staff were super nice and understanding. Will absolutely be ordering from here again and recommending them to everyone– Thank you! I’m really excited to have this new spot in the neighborhood.

I reaaaaaaallly wanted to love this place, especially since the only other Korean restaurant to occupy real estate in the immediate area was a terrible place called Noona(before Cornelius, which preceded Bar Chuko on the corner of Vanderbilt and Dean). Unfortunately, it was completely underwhelming. I agree with other reviewers who stated that this place targets non-Koreans and perhaps«gentrified» taste buds, but not in a creative or fusion-based way. The food is bland and poorly executed. The seafood dumplings are of the frozen variety that you can buy bags of at any Asian market(for less than they charge you for 4 dumplings here). The kimchi pancake is actually a weird take on the Japanese Okonomiyaki, minus the crispness or the interesting sauce. It’s much thicker than your average kimchi pancake and oily and dense rather than light and crispy. There is also no noticeable kimchi taste and it consists of mostly shredded zucchini. My sister-in-law got the smoked duck and kimchi fried rice as her entrée, which was decent despite the oiliness of the fried rice. My fiancé’s don katsu was extremely thin and dry with an overly sweet sauce. My seafood tofu stew, which I thought was supposed to be soondubu jigae, was actually a watered down version of miso soup. The pork that accompanied it though was actually quite good and saved the meal. The server was nice but definitely not well versed in terms of Korean food or informed about the menu itself. We asked if we could have a side of real kimchi instead of white kimchi, and she told us they don’t offer that, even though other menu items include it. She then later said it was available and charged us $ 5 for it. Again, not very Korean. Also, they claim to offer beer, wine, and spirits, but their offerings are painfully limited. No wine, one or two spirits, and really crappy beer. I wish I could plug this place because I had high hopes for it. Maybe things will turn around once it has been open for a bit longer.

Bopsot is a really excellent addition to the neighborhood. It’s pretty new but my impression from a visit last week is that the food is solid and the place is well run! I went with two friends, and we got the beef bibimbap, the cold rice noodles, and ddukbokki. The food was great: well cooked, seasoned right, tasty and spicy.(My only, teeny complaint is that the servings are smaller than they would be in Manhattan/Flushing Koreatown, which is probably correct for the neighborhood, so maybe I’m just greedy!) The beer selection is great — no Coors/Buds here — and priced well, like a can of Founders for $ 4. Service was fast and friendly. I haven’t tried eating in the backyard yet but plan to soon.

If I could lick my plate clean, I would! Tofu scramble and bibimbap were both amazing. And the staff was incredible, even with our crazy 1 ½ year old tossing Cheerios everywhere. The backyard is beautiful and food is great. Highly recommend!

Service was very poor, but hopefully they’ll fix this as they recently opened. We had to ask for tableware and napkins, and they were very understaffed for a Friday night. Food took forever to come out. Ambience was very good, though, and the backyard has an awesome grapevine. The food was ok… Kimchi spicy pork tacos: surprisingly large, good spice, definitely worth $ 7. Would order again. Bulgogi soup: the broth was watery and lacked flavor, but the beef was nice. Pass on this. Dukboki: weird mix of squishy stuff covered in bbq sauce, accompanied by crunchy tempura. Very weird, but quite tasty. Good if you’re looking for something different. Overall, the place has potential for a great summer date, but they really need to get their service issues fixed.

I am always hesitant to review new spots, but this place can benefit from some constructive criticism. Pros: nice ambiance, especially in the garden. Very attentive and friendly staff. Well cooked bulgogi and spicy pork. And the kimchi fried rice was a real star. Needs work: in general, the neighborhood seems to favor authentic flavors. The days of fusion are over and this place while seemingly trying to be a Korean restaurant also is trying a fusion angle that comes up short. This place would be wildly successful with an expanded traditional Korean menu, with stone pot bibimbaps and traditional Korean appetizers. Currently as It stands, the food leaves a bit to be desired unfortunately, especially the seafood pancake which was mushy on the inside and lacked flavor. All told this place really has potential. I hope they double down on Korean food which the neighborhood is lacking in(in terms of a sit down establishment) and go the more traditional route. I’ll likely give it another shot.

Came here on Friday night around 830 and was able to get a great seat in the beautiful backyard with my 4 other diners. First off very lovely atmosphere. Food was awesome and well priced. I got the soy chicken(addictive) and the tofu and seafood stew and was super happy! The service was also super nice and attentive. Will be back!
