Went here on a Saturday night with gf and sat in the outdoor garden. First off, the garden had a nice vibe and tables were not all on top of eachother. So the place got off on the right foot As for the food. I had the fennel Salad and she had the beet salad. Both were good. A note on the fennel salad, although I like dill, I believe it had a bit too much. As for the main course, I had the cous cous royal. I would highly recommend this dish, especially if you like cumin. The roasted chicken served with this dish was perfectly prepared, and the lamb sausage was delicious. We did not do dessert as we had to run to catch a movie, but we had a good dining experience and would recommend this place.

Stumbled onto this place last night with a friend. We were looking for a light meal and a beer. They were super cool about it and still provided amazing service. Everyone was super friendly. The salads we had were fantastic. Really lovely aromatic greens and delicious tomato mozzarella salad. The ambiance is just delightful. It was a bit too cold to sit on the lovely patio but I would love to go back for brunch someday. Good prices.

— overall rating: 4.5 — personable staff — more than reasonable pricing, I’d go even as far as to call it a steal — highly recommend: the steak or the duck entrée, crème brûlée — quaint outdoor seating — cash only

It’s really a shame that Robin des Bois is about to cease to exist, because it’s a fun place with good food. If you were to judge the restaurant based on its«crazy crap on the wall» motif, I’d understand where you were coming from. Most places that have distracting stuff all over the place seem to want to distract you from the fact that the place is lame or the food isn’t good. Not so here. A lot of the dishes on the menu don’t sound like anything special, but they taste great. On the exterior, Robin seems like it’d be straight up French, but there is an Asian-inspired kick that is evident in a lot of the food. That’s not to say that the Boeuf Bourguignon isn’t old-school(it is), but the mussels are served in a broth that gives a decent kick and the roasted cauliflower has a fantastic fish sauce element in. It may be too late to get in, but it’s worth trying while you still can.

Great ambiance, great food, great pacing, reasonable prices. We split brie and escargots and each had some butternut squash soup. The soup was good but not great(too sweet and the texture was a bit of), the brie was good and the escargot were excellent. My girlfriend had the moroccan carrots and said they were fantastic. I had the croque monsieur and thoroughly enjoyed it. My girlfriend had the couscous and said it was pretty solid. All in all, good food, good prices, good atmosphere. The back garden at this place is very cool as well.

People never quite realize how dull and uniform most restaurants can be. Everything matches. The chairs, the tables, the lighting, the plants, the plates and the staff depending what snooty place you’re at. But here the décor and ambiance is like someone took an antique shop and planted a kitchen in it. It’s got this dusty, mismatched charm that makes for the perfect setting of a warm Brooklyn weekend night. Chances are you won’t find it on your first attempt because you think you’re walking by a thrift store or some kind of knick knack shop with a gator in the window. Then after walking down the block for the third time looking around with a confused look on your face you notice little letters reading«Robin des Bois.» It pulls double duty as a great brunch spot and an equally great place for a late night date or a group dinner in the back patio. I’d recommend you do a small-plates type thing so you can sample everything. The mussels in spicy beer broth were so damn good I asked for more bread to go with the broth after scraping the last morsel out of the last polished shell. Escargot were equally as tasty!

My favorite place in the neighborhood. The décor, the food, the service, the beautiful back garden are all second to none. And the prices are very reasonable. Much bang for your buck. A must try if you haven’t yet. Great date place too btw.

Ate here around Bastille Day and it was pretty solid. Didn’t order off the special menu but got the steak, asparagus, potatoes as one entrée and salmon, lentils, spinach for the other. The steak was pretty good, cooked properly(I know Unilocalers are sticklers for that), well seasoned asparagus and the potatoes were freaking delicious and I hate potatoes but oh man my dietitian wouldn’t have been pleased by the butter content… but still delish. I liked the salmon dish too but the lentils were a bit too hard, still undercooked and the spinach has a bit of an odd crunch to it like when you bit into a grain of sand and get that weird crunch bit. It sounds weird but I had to verified by the others at the table. Despite those two flaws both entrees were quite flavorful and well designed. Interesting décor, some decent beer/wine and a nice backyard. All in all, a very hip, worthwhile Brooklyny spot.

Used to be pretty regular here and I have to say it’s still a great standby. The garden is great and you can never go wrong with the Couscous Royale. They used to have just the best steak tartare but sadly it seems to be off the menu lately. Cash only which is a bit of a drag.

I used to come here all the time when I was in high school, but haven’t been back(which, unfortunately, has been a number of years). We had the escargot(which were really yummy) and the braised endive with ham(which was also really good. Very simple, but cheesy and delish) to start, followed by the duck with the cranberry sauce and the steak au poivre. Both were very good, though the duck was a bit tough, and the pepper sauce was a little thick. Flavors were good all around. Sides: string beans(a little overcooked), brussels sprouts fricassee(with bacon apples and walnuts — very good), potatoes au gratin(crispy on top and delicious), and a really delicious eggy cheesy leek thing. Really quite a lot of food… But it was all good! The atmosphere is rather frenetic, but it works in an easy going fun way. I did feel a little cramped at times. The table we were at was small and the mains were served on large wooden boards which took up almost the entire table. It got a little loud, so I wouldn’t choose this place for an intimate dinner with a significant other, but with friends it’s a fun and choice.

Adorable brunch spot on Smith Street — I want to come back here at night and check out the scene. I fell in love with the décor of this place. Good bloody maries which is always a plus for a brunch place. They had limited options for brunch items(sometimes a girl just wants eggs and toast, not some cheesy omletty concoction), but besides that it seemed cute. Apparently they have a garden in the back — I will be excited to come back for that!

Love this place. French inspired home cooking. Always with specials. The daily quiche is great. The vegetables are always cooked just right. Wine list is good. They’re French. Atmosphere is fantastic. Casual seating sometimes community ish. Back yard is great when it’s open. Don’t go if you’re in heals or say«like» a lot. You’ll probably expect more.

Often I wake up on the weekends eager for brunch after a long night of heavy intoxication. Only to realize that most places end brunch at 3 — 4 pm. I happened upon Robin des Bois by mere coincidence while driving aimlessly through downtown Brooklyn. The price was right, the food was delicious, and the vibe was comfortable. This place felt like home, with its eclectic ny style that reminded me of all the things I used to love about the city(I’m a native New Yorker). Also, there’s a cute fireplace.

Really had fun here. As mentioned all over Unilocal, the vibe is funky and relaxed. We ordered several small plates to start: Escargot(yum!), Baked Manchego(!!), and Saucisson w/cornichons and olives(!). Be warned, the website says 3 for $ 15 on the small plates, but that’s no longer the case. :( We also had the skirt steak with string beans and cauliflower. Pretty tasty. We finished of the meal with the Clafouti du Jour, which was peach. Never had clafouti before, but I thought it was good finisher. The waitstaff was pretty friendly and accommodating, but we did go on a Sunday night, so it wasn’t packed. Music selection was a good fit. Would’ve like more of a beer selection.

One of the most impressive things about this place to me was the atmosphere. With a mere glance into the restaurant through the open door, I felt like I was peeping into a different time and place — one that was perfectly suited for someone such as myself. There was nothing pretentious or overly stifling about the way the place looks, feels, or is, and that, to me, is always grand. There are bizarre and interesting decorations and objects adorning the walls at every turn. They seem like strange, silly artifacts that I wish I could have for myself. Even before you step into the door, the two front glass panels showcase some interesting things. I distinctly recall something that looked like one of those Powerwheels toys for kids(or perhaps a bumper car) with a pair of fake fishnet-clad legs hanging out the back of it. I was even more excited upon entering the garden. I wanted to live in it. It was the perfect setting for Sunday brunch with a friend from out of town. And the food was pretty great, too. For $ 12.95, you get a meal and either a mimosa or bloody mary and coffee. My friend and I got the eggs florentine and crab cakes benedict respectively and split the dishes. Their potatoes were perfectly seasoned with rosemary and expertly cooked. They were crunchy on the outside, yet soft on the inside(which is how I like them, personally.) It also came with a perfectly portioned local greens salad. Their crabcakes were excellent! Our server was nice, albeit a bit out of sight and mind for a minute, but they had a full house in the garden. In my book, that’s excusable. Besides, we only had a bit of a wait on the check — refills were promptly given, and questions were politely answered, regardless of the fact that I know she was in a rush. All in all, I am a FAN! I cannot WAIT to go back for dinner, and hopefully another delicious brunch.

Came here for Sunday brunch. Great outdoor seating with plenty of interesting knick-nacks for your eyes to wander and absorb the beauty of the garden. I ordered from the Brunch special menu – chicken sausages with roasted herb potatoes, salad, and caramelized apples with a glass of Mimosa. Everything hit the spot! From the aroma of the herbs in the sausages and potatoes; the sweetness and texture of the apples; the right amount of balsamic vinegrette in my mixed green salad. Good portion of each item to satisfy my palate. Top it all off with a nice cold glass of Mimosa — my stomach is smiling. Oh yeah, can’t forget the cute waiter and loved his Brit accent.

Totally cute kitschy vintage décor, which carries over into the equally sweet and endearing outdoor space in back. Our waiter was attentive and, added bonus, cute. Lilletini went down pretty smooth, and the $ 15 for 3 small plates deal is slammin’, I sampled the fried oysters(not bad if you’ve never had my mama’s), ratatouille w/breadcrumbs and oregano, and the fried manchego(crunchy! fried! manchego!). Yeah, pretty much.

With Patois gone this is now my favorite casual French place in Brooklyn’s Little Bastille(aka Smith Street). Solid, affordable, friendly with a great rustic outdoor space.

The Good: –They kept the kitchen open for us when we walked in at 1 am. –The eclectic décor; seemingly haphazard, but the overall effect is charming. –The movie posters. Especially Anna de Brooklyn. I want to meet her. –The shrimp appetizer. –Interesting conversation; friends. –The service. –The sign in the bathroom reads: nothing but toilet paper in the toilet.* –When 2:15 rolled around, they didn’t even kick us out. we left because we felt bad that they were waiting around for us. The Bad: –What appeared to be a small stone(shell?) in my escargot. –The fact that dipping bread in the little garlic butter holes was tastier than the snails themselves. –The wine.(That’s really on me though.) The Ugly: –Nothing. Even I’M pretty when I’m drunk. __________ *I peed in it anyway, because rules don’t apply to me.
