Now that I’ve moved back to the area, several years after writing my initial review, this place is still one of the more solid, fresh sushi places in Brooklyn(few and far between in the borough). We’re not talking gourmet sushi here but for what it is, I have no complaints. Their regular rolls are fresh and generous and their New Year’s roll is one of the few special rolls I order consistently because I love it. Delivery time is usually pretty fast unless it’s Friday night. Thanks for being around, Sakura!

I wish I could give –5 stars. This place should be out of business. I’ve been waiting over two hours and still no order. They are located 12 blocks away, I don’t understand. Their food may be quality but the delivery ruins all. STAYAWAY!!!(best part is it’s a Monday, I would love to know how busy they are)

I’m really impressed by the Great Service! Today I went for a late lunch with my co workers and i forgot my wallet at the restaurant. I didn’t even realize it after I got home. The honest waitress at the restaurant called my friend’s no. which was in my wallet and told him to inform me. When i went to pick up my wallet, all the cash and the cards are there. I really appreciate her honesty. It saves me a lot of trouble to make new IDs and credit cards and also save money too.

I can’t believe I’ve overlooked this place for so many years. Don’t make that mistake! Don’t get distracted by all of the bigger and fancier sushi places in the area, because Sakura makes some of the tastiest rolls I’ve had. Especially since I’ve grown so sick and tired of Chikurin and Mitoushi, with all of their rolls tasting essentially the same, masked by a myriad of sauces. Sakura was fresh, and I could actually taste the fish and different ingredients. Yum

A friend and I recently moved back to the neighborhood and were looking for a local sushi place to call home. Sakura far exceeded our expectations. Their small, but cozy atmosphere is accompanied by an upbeat staff. The menu is solid, and the food is prepared with haste and quality. Everything is simply delicious. Its gotten to the point where we just walk in, and the chef is already whipping us up a meal. We love the place! If you’re feeling adventurous, try the soda with bits of peach in them. It has 5% alcohol and will give you that kick you need to carry on with your day. If you’re in the area, definitely give Sakura a taste, its simply perfect.

I went there with my friend to have lunch. 1) service was terrible 2) miso soup more like a stinky soup end up giving it back 3) shrimp was very hard to chew didn’t like it at all 4) and the best part half of our order didn’t come because waitress didn’t write it down and whatever we got it was totally wrong what we asked for. 5) it was my first and last time in this place

Four of us came here on a Sunday evening, because nearby Nargis was a madhouse and we didn’t want to stand on the sidewalk for 30 minutes or more. We were very lucky to find Sakura. It was low-key(we could actually hear each other talk), the staff was friendly and attentive, and the food(we had teriyaki and nigimake) was very satisfying, fresh and plentiful at reasonable prices. Too bad it is far from our usual beat, but we’ll gladly return if we find ourselves in that neighborhood again.

When I thought that all the sushi places around Sheepshead Bay are good, I was proven wrong when I came here. I came in to order take out because I was in a rush, but really craved sushi. So when my waiter did not come for 5 minutes(the place was almost empty), I just grabbed the menu myself. Yes, it’s cheap, but it did turn out to be poor quality. I ordered a Philadelphia roll, Green Dragon and some other one of their special rolls, which I can’t recall, but I remember-there was cheese in it and overall it was really disgusting, that I could not even finish one of those. The other rolls really flacked flavor and the avocado for the Green Dragon was not really fresh. When I came home and finally ate my rolls, I was extremely disappointed. And yeah– I waited 25 minutes for my sushi to be prepared. Guess you can understand how I felt! I strongly do not recommend this place!

I went here while visiting a dealership with my wife. The interior is quite small but quant. Our server was very nice and attentive. Their ingredients are extremely fresh but they skimp on the amount of meat/sushi used. It is however balanced by the fact that they have great recipes.

Yummy sushi and miso soup ‚ — those are the best buys overthere, the décor is nothing to yap about, but it always stays in holiday season, the service is amazing they have DelisH food and it not that clean but not that dirty, so it’s a nice place to have lunch !

This is a good sushi spot considering the location. In sheepshead bay where one place looks just like the other, its awesome to head only a few blocks away to get your sushi. There is nothing spectacular about the décor but the service makes the place shine. I suggest the dinner boxes. It will mos def fill your tummy: california roll, salad, miso soup, tempura, shumai… the works.

Ate here alot since it so close to where i live and worked. Not only is location a key factor into why i like this place its the food that is really good for a decent price. Come in if you can its a great spot atmosphere is casual and light i here light fm music in the background. I usually come in for the lunch special doesnt matter what you pick its all good. Same goes for dinner.

Honestly, there are better places in Sheepshead than Sakura but this is nearer to my bf’s house and we didn’t want to head further to Sheepshead Bay Rd where the better ones are located. Cute décor, small place. Sushi was just okay.

Two special rolls and a seafood salad to go. The salad was good and the seafood tasted very fresh. The soy sause was a bit on the salty side, but other than that it was great. The lady that took my order was very nice and they made it fairly quickly. Will be back for sure.

Didn’t know what to eat for dinner and drove passed this place and decide to give it a try. First off there was only one waitress but she is very friendly and attentive. The sushi is very fresh and cheap! There was a fatty yellowtail special usually I’m not a big fan of yellowtail but it was very fresh and surprising good. They weren’t skimpy with the uni which is a plus but I wish they were less generous with the rice! Not to mention uni for $ 3 a piece?! What a bargain! I will definitely be coming back here again!

Small cute little spot on Coney Island avenue. Came here with my girlfriend for dinner Tuesday evening. It was just one more table besides us. We ordered a «bagel roll», sandwich for and appetizer and couple of plain rolls,“bagel roll” was amazing, fresh, hot, crispy outside and soft on the inside. The girl who was serving us was very good. We really had a great time, will come back again.

I’ve been eating at this place for close to 9 years now. This is definitely my go-to sushi in south brooklyn. It is not fancy, but it is always neat. This may not be the greatest sushi you’d ever have, but you can be certain that you will always have very good and fresh food here. I won’t be able to count how many times I ate here, apparently enough times to be known by name and having my orders remembered. Great owners, chefs and servers. Simply a win-win kinda place. Can’t go wrong with it!

My FAVORITE sushi spot in Brooklyn! Great because of value and the calmness of this little-known spot on Coney Island Avenue right before you head straight to the beach! It’s my favorite after-beach spot!!! Should be rated«$», not«$$».

***** This is an amazing Japanese restaurant for so many reasons. They have delivery, take out, and tables to eat at there. The place itself looks beautiful, and has TV and music playing to relax you. The service to the table is always great, and they help you with everything. This itself has even helped relax me as well. The food here is even more amazing. I always have whatever I love, and always end up having some to bring home and eat later on or sometime the next day or other days. I also have done some additional takeout too, to enjoy at home later. Their delivery is also amazing. I highly recommend Sakura Japanese Restaurant to everyone! *****
